dynamic in what way? talking dynamics is usually about the loudness/softness of parts and/or instruments played. This is pretty much 100% all the time so it's not very "dynamic" but rather quite the opposite, at least in the usual sense of the word
@@Skepsis710 Sebastian is definitely a better fit drummer for Obscura but I don’t mind David doing an album cause then I might actually have a hope in hell of playing an obscura track one day XD. Will Sebastian return in future albums or is David the permanent drummer now? Not trying to rag on David either I love his work in both Obscura and Cognizance and he’s a top 5 for me.
I would not comment on his technique because it is flawless for quite sometime now, BUT I would like to say that drums are written SO DAMN GOOD!!! You play the melodies with guitars, and keep blasting the shit out of drums, which is something incredible! This is what I call drumming and this is what music is about! Cymbals follow the main riff, toms follow guitar swipes, everything is ON POINT! Bravo sir, you've outdone yourself!

Man you and Alex Rudinger take the cake for combining rhythmically complex songs with blistering pace. Both of you are so clean and uniquely different but equally talented. You both make playing this kind of stuff look relaxing.
i would just say that David has a better technique. Alex is leaning his neck quite heavily forward during double kick parts and reaching cymbals almost behind him at the same time. OUCH i get hurt watching Alex but not David. David seems also less tired, more stamina.

Obscura has never had anything close to an unworthy drummer, but now we are graced with a fellow that brings the spirit of Saint Bobby Jarzombek to the holiest of the metals. The gods do smile their favor upon us these days.
The cleanliness and technical proficiency on display here is jaw dropping. Diepold is a machine! I like how he's wearing a Slayer shirt, as if to make a point that high precision isn't always important in music. I think we can all appreciate it in Dave's work with Obscura, though :-)
David, you're becoming one of my favorite drummers in metal. Your work on both the latest Cognizance and Obscura albums is fantastic. Also, would be cool to see Christian do a guitar playthrough of this song, as it features some of his best lead work to date.

Wow!!! The dynamics here are utterly astounding... as well as the skill. 1st video I have seen of his but I am supremely impressed. Not usually a fan of this super fast newer metal drumming because becomes like a droning noise to me. He breaks it up so perfectly. Its not overkill and I enjoy the super fast parts so much more when its broken up. Dude's a genius drummer.
Masterpiece. A clearly brilliant musician using his instrument with vigor and ambition. The double sided ride cymbal isn't out of necessity like perhaps Hoglan's (southpaw) but out of fruition. Cool, calm and collected the whole time. Perfect posture and astounding technique. I'm pretty sure I saw push/pull in there on the snare, which in this man's hand's is utter brutality. 10 out 10. If you ever read this David, thank you.
