At 9:34, Tom Scott says "I learnt that the hard way", when referring to Matt's brother tagging their mother in "your mum" jokes, which are popular disparaging jokes directed at the viewer's maternal figure. This suggests Tom Scott made a "your mum" joke towards Matt's mother. In this essay I will

I'm so pleased that you're talking about the Elton John Out of the Blue music video - it's also on the special edition(?) DVD as bonus material, and includes such shots as Elton John watching two of the main characters make out and then petting the horse who comes in and is shocked.
Not to be confused with the 1976 Elton John track Out of the Blue, which was the outro track on the original BBC Top Gear before the reboot (not the recent one, the one before that), and is really quite a good rock/jazz thing.
as someone who has worked with big after effects projects. When you have all the clips and effects and it slows down, and you still have more to do. its easy to give up, props to tom that!
A log colour comparison that Matt might approve of: It's like U-law or A-law audio encoding vs linear PCM. They both dedicate more bits to the quiet/dark parts of the loudness/brightness scale, where humans are more sensitive, and less to the loud/bright areas, instead of spreading them evenly across the entire scale.
Knew I'd seen that El Dorado/Elton transition effect somewhere but couldn't place it for the life of me until you put them side by side. Well done, Tom.
No one seemed to pick up that at around 14 seconds in the video there is dQw4w9WgXcQ next the my computer icon/address URL, a nice touch non the less ;)

Patrick Stewart went bald at 19.
On the one hand, it's nice to not be bald. On the other hand, you could have been Patrick F*cking Stewart.
I've been greying quickly since around 26, just like my mum. I love it though, can't wait to be fully grey at 35. Tom needs to embrace it.
That's okay. He'll never be completely gray. It's starting to thin out in the middle and I think that is winning the race.
(I shouldn't talk. My hair was thinning at 18, and now my beard is going gray.)

don't look like Mandarin ducks. also Tom knows how they look as he had to bring some to his university.
Alwin Priven they were shell ducks he had to get for uni
Alwin Priven Not entirely. Tom had to buy two Ruddy Shellducks, which are not entirely the same breed. Or are they? Correct me if I'm wrong.
