I had a WR400F and a WR450F and waited for Yamaha to make a street legal versions for the US. After waiting 15 years for them to do it I finally gave up and went Orange. I loved my Yamaha's but screwing around with our Motor Vehicle Department to get them through inspection was just too much of a hassle. Just took my Orange bike through inspection last week with zero problems and I'm good for another 2 years. I like the one guys comment, a WR350F. Let's Go Brandon!
@@tieoneon1614 If they made a WR500 Tenere with a 20L rally tank mounted low I'd be sprinting to the Yamaha dealership with a deposit. Can't believe no manufacturer is building a lightweight dual sport in rally trim. Well, one with 40hp at the wheel and decent suspension.
@@chippyjohn1 I'm in Nevada I have the 05 wr450f it comes with the headlight and brake light you just buy the tusk kit and add a few things I made it street legal
Please make the WR450 a dual sport. Stroke it 500cc, de-tune it, add a big seat, 16L tank and charge however much you want for it. I'll happily pay T7 pricing. I'd pay T7 world raid pricing if Yamaha made it dual sport in rally trim like the Fantic XEF 450 rally bike.
I’m glad I got my 2022 the new bike looks like there hasn’t been any changes but graphics and I like the 2022 graphics better that the 2023’s shown in the video.
I dont think so the designers of yamaha now days they dont come with bright ideas like in the past even on the design look im riding yamaha since i was kid and im really disappointed what yamaha is coming too
@@toddmerriott6901 I ended up looking into this. The fx is just as "street legal" after lightning, horn and slip on. The WR line is the cheaper entry level option. Detuned, slower suspension valving, gov approved spark arrested, no power tuner box, didn't get all the latest brake, hub and other minor refinements the 22 250fx got. Since 20 the wr is basically the money maker model that is meant to satisfy gov regulations and sales numbers, but almost identical to the current fx, about 98% the same. By the time you add the tuning box, you are close to the price of an fx. The lights are not that good on the wr, most upgrade to a baja design led around here on both the fx and wr. I went with the 22 fx.
@@Dat_Sun the title on the wr is calafornia green sticker, the fx is (close course only) I don’t know what all you need to do to make it legal. We has lights and emissions legal already. I don’t know how you are comparing the two.
@@toddmerriott6901 I'm comparing the FX and the WR, they're basically the same thing since 2020 and beyond. The WR is a stripped down YZFX with older brakes, spoke patterns ect.. The wr meets the ridiculous California certification because they removed the power tuner app and the proper exhaust system for a corked up ca model. If you're still in California get out of there. Shortly after leaving my initial comment here I went to the Yamaha dealer, and chose the YZFX after learning they are basically the same thing, even the cylinder head and cams are the same. Purchasing the 2020+ WR is a mistake, for the money go for the YZFX, unless you live in Chinifornia and need the sticker.
The position of the airfilter and the intake noise made me sell my 450 after one week. Change the slanted motor to an ordinary forward facinf motor and put the airbox where it belongs. If it was such a good idea why is everyone else nit slanting their motors. That intake noise ruins an almost perfect bike
Bring back the WR250R or please make a Duel Sport WR350R with fuel injection, 6 speeds and long service intervals... The World is waiting Yamaha!
I've waited 20 years for that, until then I buy KTMs for the 6 speed
Amén!
Exactly what I was thinking !!!
Whats so special about the WR250R? The WR250F does have a six speed box.
@@chippyjohn1 The WR250R has a 6 speed.

Pretty sure whatever Yamaha replaces the 250R with will be a 300 Dual Sport, not an enduro bike. But Im waiting to see.

the WR450F is road legal from factory, that is why they are so popular.

Pretty sure the 23 has a completely new engine cos it shares it with the new yz, not certain but I think that's the case

is there any hope for production of the WR450 Rally?

Why Yamaha doesn't participate in the Hard World Championship? even though Yamaha has a tough motor like WR?
Amazing bikes
Curious about the suspension valving this time around. The 20+ WR's were a bit stiff compared to the 19 and older years.
Sold! sign me up, 450 for Xmas would be nice.
I test road a 2022 and the intake noise is so loud. Non starter for me.
Where was the WF250F????
W"F"250F?
Do the wr's have emissions equipment over the fx's?
Yes, they can be made street legal
