@@wach1722 *Coming from experience, if you aren’t passionate about making videos, you won’t get anywhere.* It took me 1 whole year to get 200 subscribers, then in Dec/Jan I uploaded a video that got 5k+ views and I gained 450+ subscribers in only 2 months which is absolutely CRAZY!
🤔 Well… I usually upload dance (freestyle) videos, so…. The most I do is analyze A roll takes, sync audio, color grade and add vfx. I think that’s the jist of it for now until I creatively expand on the elements of my video formatting. This video is great though, because I will be integrating more talking and takes in my videos- most likely teaching choreography or talking about dance and creativity. 🤷🏻♂️
He only needs one more plugin - A denoiser to remove the air conditioner noise... or he could add some background music to mask it. My vent is right above my head - I literally turn the a/c completely off or use a lapel. Also, I can’t wait to try out that app on my phone - never heard of it! 💚
Ya i was gonna say I didnt hear it either, I think the majority of people watching will be watching on their phones. Now when I am using my audio engineering headphones I hear every extra sound.
Editing is something I use as a distraction, it takes time. I record from my cell phone for screen recording, my GoPro for my on the go footage and my main camera so I have to render 3 different kinds of footage into 1 video but it's fun. Attention is key. For my A roll I tend to have about 4-5 clips since mine are done in 1 take due to being vlogging footage and the B roll is shot typically BEFORE my A roll so I can talk about it. B roll footage is super important detail to keep people watching!
Really similar process for me. Only one tip I'd add is to edit your A-Roll backwards. If you are like me then the last take is always the best so it's easier to find it first then skip back until you say something different and detete everything in-between. Hope this makes sense. It's a time saver for me so might help someone else.
SwitchTake sounds like a wonderful solution. For now, I avoid having to listen to the beginning of each take to hear the same words spoken by giving an audible cue. At the risk of embarrassing myself, I clap twice at the end if it is a bad take and three times if it is a good take on a subsection of my video. I usually try to record two or three "good" takes since not all of them are as good as I think when i first record them. This way, I can skip all the "two-spike" takes completely and just cut them out without even having to listen to them. I'm definitely new to all this, but that was my low-tech solution to the problem. I also clap once at the beginning of a take if it is a "new" section. All the little cues on the audio help me cut through my video a little faster.
MotionVFX is great! Easy to use, great quality stuff, and the size of the files are really small and compact, compared to the gigs of space required by other plugin packs from competitors. My only thing is that MotionVFX is very expensive. Wait until Black Friday to purchase plugins. They have so much great stuff, that even with their big Black Friday discount, I ended up paying $700+. I think it's worth it for all the stuff I got. So my big tip is to wait until their Black Friday sale!
Hey Nolan, thanks for sharing your editing approach. It's true, it is time-taking to add those effects especially for a beginner. Those plug-ins look really helpful. In past I have used HitFilm Express but I might be moving to Final Cut Pro eventually.
Thanks for the tips to speed up my workflow on video editing. I will definitely use most of the features that was said in the video. As for the video editing I'm using VN video editor and VLLO using an emulator on my laptop. Hopefully I can upgrade soon.
I use VN Editor, too! I don't often see people mention it. It's been such a great free program for an absolute beginner. I can tell there are limitations, but it's what I have for now. What is VLLO? What does that do for you?
@@gamesconversationchannel VLLO is a video editor just like VN video editor. I'm still testing out VLLO but Primal Video says it's the number 1 free video editor for beginners.
Thanks for taking the time to create this video and walk is through your process. This one is chock-a-block full of great tid bits. I'll be sure to check in about the software for good takes. I have to use that on my own channel. Keep up the good stuff
Great tips Nolan. I think the best tip I ever got from you was viewing my footage at 1.5x such a timesaver. I just went over 700 subs, I’m soo hyped lol
Do you have any tips on how to find an editor that creates videos of this quality? I would also appreciate a video on how to best give an editor notes. Thank you!
Sounds like I need to get final cut pro! In my video editor I have to manually do the zoom in/zoom out thing.....same with the the slowly zooming in " for dramatic purposes" takes a bit of time to do....but it's worth it!
Nolan, I know you put this out a week ago, but is there a chance you could post up in the description your folder tree that is in your template folder? That would be super helpful for us beginners. We might not have everything thought out that we might need.
Hey Nolan, I just came across your company’s channel today and I was really impressed with the content of your videos that I didn’t hesitate to subscribe to your channel. That being said, have a question and hopefully you or someone on this channel can provide me with some guidance. I’ve never edited any videos before, but would like to learn. Question, can an average person skip right over iMovie and pick up fairly quickly how to use Final Cut Pro? I’m willing to spend at least 2 hours of my day watching tutorials like the one you have published on your channel. Thanks in advance for your response! 😊
You can go through your A roll without fancy plugins. Just code it with 3 claps if you screwed up a part and you know where you have to cut out parts... :-)
Thank you Nolan! How did you get the rocket emoji on the text line? I guess you just added it in separately and somehow synced the movement. Overall, always super helpful, thank you!
Question: without having to pay for something else like a plugin, can I just work with iMovie, before taking on something like Final Cut Pro? Second question, if I'm filming on an iPhone13Pro, and then editing in iMovie, can any of these special effects items through MotionFVX be used in iMovie? I'm just getting started and have to watch Nolan's tutorial on iMovie because I already have it on my Mac.
Defiently going to try switch take! I have a camera remote and I turn it off / on for each take. Can it bulk run multiple files through the voice software or is it designed for one long take?
Hey Nolan, I recently started a channel after watching your iMovie tutorial from a couple years ago, I plan on leveling up to Final Cut Pro so can you please do a video on transitioning from using iMovie to Final Cut Pro. I have a subscription to adobe premiere but its a little overwhelming and I would rather buy Final Cut Pro for $300 once than pay for adobe premiere monthly "forever" lol Thanks Think Media your team has been super helpful! I recommend your vides to all my friends that are thinking about creating a TH-cam channel.
A good trick for me is to edit backwards with cuts. I'm the same, generally my last take is the best so I can speed through working from the end to the start.
@@joyboy6535 not at all, you've already written the story and told it. If your last take is the best one, you don't have to scrub through all the shit takes to get to the good one. I'm only talking about cutting the clips here
