This scenario is with my male best friend who's eight years younger, he's like a little brother. We've done a lot of healing with each other. This past year he's been involved with a very toxic woman and it's having a regressive effect on his healing and life. I was becoming his emotional dumpster and it was turning codependent. His family is very well off, and his girlfriend told her brother that she'd have a child with my friend because, and I quote, "I know his mom and dad would take care of me". She comes from a very different background. She broke up with him after a false accusation of cheating. He was calling me multiple times a day and not doing well. Then.. complete silence. I knew he got back with her and decided I needed to step back. After a month he reached out and apologized for how he treated me. I said it was best to take space and work on ourselves for now because I can't do anyone's work for them and I have to refill my cup right now.
