I suppose one argument would be that adolescents see these types of media and get a false impression of people from it. When I graduated high-school 14 years ago, I had a brainwashed opinion of black people. I was convinced that they are all just misunderstood and deserve more benefit of the doubt and courtesy than other races do. Because of that, I found myself in 2 situations that were very sketchy because I put more trust in black people that I didn't know very well than I would have if they were white. After living in lower income areas for years now, I can tell you that I'm leery of everyone I don't know. And that most unpleasant interactions that I have had with strangers involved a black person. It's not me being prejudiced, it's identifying patterns.
