That was educational, thanks. I have a Jr too. I upgraded mine, adding firebricks in cook chamber and Ortech controller. Both have really improved my cooks. I move mine around, so wheels and maybe a shelf next.
Traeger grills are so easy to repair. Just take off the control panel, then take off the hood from the pellet hopper, then unplug the wires, unscrew the cover off the firebox, unscrew the fire rod and pull it through, make sure the auger is turning and the pathway for the pellets isn’t clogged. Put your new parts in, screw everything back down, put the control panel back on, plug it in, turn the control to “smoke”, make sure the fire rod is glowing and the firebox is getting warm, turn it off, put more pellets in, turn it back to smoke and make sure it’s smoking, then sell the damned thing on Craigslist for 1/10 of what you paid for it and get a Big Green Egg like you should’ve done in the first place.
Interesting video. I have the same model and have gradually been replacing all the components. My current problem is the firepot burning too hot on smoke, with the temperature accelerating to over 500 degrees and giving me an HEr error message and shutting everything down. I just replaced the controller unit and the temperature rod and still have the problem on a test this morning. Any insights?
When you plugged in the red wire connector for the auger motor at 4:10 and the auger motor fan didn't start, that was an indication of your problem right there. Also, if I were you, I would invest in a digital controller instead of that 3 position one. There are excellent after market ones available on Amazon at 50-60 % less than OEM Traeger ones.
Im pretty sad. I spent a ton of money on my traeger and have had it for two years and have already had problems like mentioned here and of course it conks out as you spent money on meat, seasoned it let it set over night and just about throw it on the grill. You guys have to do better if you plan to charge that much, hell, get one for half the price and play the same game.
my traeger keeps popping my house circuit breaker soon as i turn it on have replaced auger motor and fan and control board it still does it have any suggestions
Did u find the source? My 12 yr old Traeger keeps tripping the breaker as well. I have it apart right now, cleaning it up, and new auger motor arrives tomorrow. All wires look intact so was hoping the motor would fix it. 1st issue in 12 years. Bought a Camp Chef this summer, the auger already stopped turning. Waiting to hear back from CS, but want to get the Traeger going in the meantime.
@@projectgattago Damn, Weird thing is, Yesterday when taking it apart, I turned it on and burned the pellets still left in the tube and it did not shut off once. But previously couldnt run it more than 10 minutes before it tripped the circuit. So will try the motor when it arrives tomorrow and test when its clean and back together. If not the source and I do find the source, I will report back to you.
Thanks! I recently purchased a Traeger smoker. It's amazing how easy it is to repair.
They really are. Thanks for coming around Larry!
You are a gentleman and a scholar. Thanks

Check your fans for Mud Dauber nests as well!

Thanks for the video. Very simple to follow and I even feel that my problem can be fixed by me!
You're welcome!
Love the video , i have the same smoker... but mine the hot rod isn’t working.
Hopefully you can get it fixed. It's not hard to work on these.
Might ought check auger for free rotation after removing old motor. 😁
Great video. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much this was super helpful. 👍🏽👍🏽
Break and save the motor? Never once seen that happen lol. The gears in the motor give first
Great video 👍🏾

I am sorry, I never found the true cause.

Yes. Get a Big Green Egg.
What model is the Traeger in this video?
I think it is the Smokey Jr...an older model.
@@projectgattago is the model number BQQ 055 ?
@@AddableStone13 I don't recall. I have since sold it.
That does not look anything like a Treager.
It was a very old Traeger. The new ones look very different.
