In this video we briefly cover these amazing stories that the county has to offer.
We tell the story of Spier Spencer, of whom the county is named after and Richard Taylor whom the county seat is named for. We also tell stories with names like Captain William Quantrill, Felix Grundy Stidger, James Morrison Heady, Jacob Yoder and many more!

Great job, I grew up in Louisville just a few hundred yards from Taylorsville Road...had no idea of the rich history of Spencer Co and Taylorsville.

How about that!? That is kind of my point with making these videos, so few know. Be on the look out over the next few weeks, we made separate videos of each story that we speak of in this video!

Outstanding video. I had no idea about the history of the county. I grew up in Lexington and spent most of history travels in the central bluegrass. I will have to take a trip to Spenser County upon my return to Kentucky.

Until I traveled around KY, I didn't realize how much history was in KY. I thought there was Boonsboro, Logan's fort, things like that. I also didn't realize how hard the CSA fought for KY during the CW. I knew of Morgan's raid and few things. But both were a lot deeper than I originally thought. Good job

Thanks. It’s amazing how much history is here in Kentucky. Maybe because it’s in the middle of everything in American history. Geographically and population wise so to speak.

I may be deaf, but I'm pretty sure you said he was born in 1770 & got married in 1883 at a whopping 123 years of age. Did I hear you wrong, or...or...??? Now, I love your videos. I'm NOT poking fun at you, & it's possible I heard you wrong. (My hearing is not so good) Anyway, love your channel. Thanks 4 ur hard work.

Very good guys. Always enjoy your material. By the way I've got a genealogy crisis. Haha. My 3rd great grandpa was Edmond Joseph Collins. He was born somewhere in the 1840s in TN. I don't know when he came to my area of Arkansas but I know it was 1892 when his son Samuel Benjamin Collins was born here. All we know is that Ed came from TN and died shortly after Samuel was born (of unknown causes). Samuel always seemed to be a bit darker-skinned and he had a twin named Tennessee who looked like an indian. I wonder if Ed was a melungeon. After doing some research I found one of the pioneer Melungeon figures who settled in TN in early 1800s was a man named Benjamin Collins. Benjamin had a son named Edmund Ben Collins. I wonder if there is some connection to my Edmond Collins here. My aunt who would be Edd's great grandchild took a DNA test that said 2% Nigerian. They say melungeons have African ancestry. I also wonder If Samuel Benjamin Collins would be named after this pioneer Benjamin Collins. Anyways thanks for reading and if yall offer geneology services I would love to look into it.

Over the past month I have been researching The Battle of Tippecanoe which is 2 hrs Northeast me. Also The Battle at Fort Harrison in Terre Haute which was attacked by 400 Indians about the same time of Tippecanoe. Pigeon Roost Massacre south Indiana North Louisville. And several others in Illinois and Indiana. Great job I will be looking forward to your next video. Have you ever heard of Gen. Robert Matson from Kentucky? He has a direct connection to my home town and my relatives Gideon Ashmore. He was involved in what is considered one of Lincoln's top ten trials (Matson Slave Trial). Lincoln represented him and lost his case. Old History buff! Thanks.

My 5th great grandfather William Ashmore and his brother Capt. Samuel Ashmore served in the War of 1812. I have copies of their enlistment dates and payroll. The only one I have for my grandfather is Georgia Militias May 1814 to Dec.1815 and Capt. Samuel Ashmore Tenn. Militia same I think. Both buried here in Oakland, Il. Fought with Andrew Jackson Battle of New Orleans. We had several in our family with the name Jackson years ago.Samuel like Andrew Jackson. Creek Indian War. Fort Mims was brutal. Sorry to talk so much but always been interested in American History.@@familytreenutshistorygenealogy
