    I bought a 2001 kj verada xi top of the range in beautiful condition with 200k on the clock in September of this year and am amazed with the car. Such a lovely car to drive and your spot on , it does have some serious oomf indeed and is surprisingly fuel efficient given the size of the engine and car. I replaced the timing belt , water pump all hoses and radiator for peace of mind. I can't imagine driving anything else. Thanks for making this video 👏

    Nice car Paul and it will allow your lovely Dyane a break. No cup holders in your Model T 😊 love the colour. Looking forward to seeing the bumper repairs.

    I have a early production TJ Magna Sports in the exact same colour, but with VR-X spoiler. I use it mainly on the highway as the engine has excellent power. Although not a perfect car, bad headlining, remote does not work, traction control not working anymore, uses a bit of oil (a common problem on the 6G7 engine) which I top up occasionally, it has been a reliable workhorse for many years, never broken down. You open the trunk in the glovebox but it requires a bit of effort at times, only one key opens the trunk. Unlocking the passenger door unlocks all doors but on drivers side you need to turn the key twice to unlock all doors. All doors lock if you lock the driver and passenger side. You need to change the timing belt every 100,000km and water pump every two timing belt changes.

    • @paulscountrygarage9180
      @paulscountrygarage9180  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with everything you said. I changed timing belt and water pump just after I got him. Good for another 100K. My remotes work, I replaced and programmed new ones.

    Looks quite tidy Paul. I think that droop snout model were one of the better ones. Seems paint is in pretty good nick considering red tends to fade easily. Must have been garaged. I think they loosen engine mounts and tilt engine to change the rear plugs but as you say they would put iridium plugs in so would not bother changing them unless she starts to run roughly. Probably owned by elderly person who started parking by sound. Guess you got a bargain. Plenty of power if you need it.

      It's in very good shape overall.
      Is it the AWD model?
      I really like the look of the TJ series overall, you should put some VRX decal's on it brother.🤩
      Best off going with some Silver Spark plugs to boost power, torque & fuel efficiency.
      I recommend some Brisk EVO spark plugs for the front & rear bank, they are a breakthrough because they have that new laser technology within a multispark design & in combination with Silver - just think they would be hard to beat in terms of bang for buck.
      Silver is the best conductor of heat & electricity for boosting power & torque the most on any older ignition system in order to draw out it's potential.
      Are you going to put the Mitsubishi 380s motor into with some Graeme Bell camshaft's, equip a Wavetrac LSD & upgrade the exhaust to boost power, torque & reduce weight?
      Should boost power from 150kw to 230kw in combination with those spark plugs if you do.

      @paulscountrygarage9180  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Brantley - Thanks for your comments, it’s front drive only . I won’t be putting any other decals on as it’s a Commonwealth Games Special Edition already and extra would look silly. I will, however, look into the Brisk EVO plugs.

      @paulscountrygarage9180  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Brantley - Just read the rest of your comment. 😜. No, no plans to change motor or in any way modify the car. I prefer cars as they were built.

      That Wavetrac LSD will make it alot more reliable though.
      But also handling, acceleration & braking will vastly improve when you equip it.
      Magna's didn't come with an LSD despite having class leading performance, well except for the manual Ralliart Magna.
      In fact, you will get alot of improvement's simply by changing the front tyres to some modern performance tyres like some Michelin Pilot Super sport tyres - they will also improve your fuel economy.
      Change the full size spare tyre kit in the boot for a flat tyre repair kit - it's not a modification.
      You have to also take out of the boot - the boot floor carpet which just lift's out & the wooden masonry board when you do this.
      It will reduce weight by about 30kg for improvement's across the board & it add's more room & colour to the boot, the competition did this at the time to reduce weight but Mitsubishi never offered it.
