Instead it contained the ring box, and Barack got down on one knee before the entire restaurant to yield the argument to her forever by proposing, to the wild applause of the whole restaurant.

I simply adore this couple. And miss them soooo much. Barack is the coolest person in the world until he’s around Michelle. Then he’s like a lovestruck teenage boy. You missed two other wonderful moments: (1) his last debate before the 2012 elections. He was talking, and they cut to Michelle, and I think they were looking right at each other because their eyes both lit up, and even with the distance between them, they had the dreamiest expressions on their faces; (2) January 21, 2017. One of the young servicemen accompanied Melania to Trump’s side. Trump kind of looked at her and ignored her. THEN, a young serviceman delivered Michelle to Barack’s side. He looked at her with pure adoration, picked up her hand and kissed it. So romantic. Trump looked at both of them, dumbstruck, like “Why the F**K didn’t I think of something like that?”

My thought exactly. Barack would be a great First Laddie of the US, he isn't threatened by her brilliance or extreme competence in everything she does, that is a big part of why he loves her, and he doesn't need the limelight, he is happy being a supporting player on a great team, just as he plays basketball. Michelle never wanted fame and really hates the meanness of politics though, so it would take a huge amount of persuasion to convince her that she needs to run. I think she may be the only one capable of uniting the Democratic party, but I think we need to start by convincing all the Dem candidates of 2016 to forgo running in 2020 so that we can't have a repeat of that primary season that nearly split the party apart and cost the Dems heavily in the general election.
Instead, every former candidate and their teams and other Dem and progressive leaders need to caucus together to hammer out a platform that everyone can get behind, then figure out one candidate or two candidates who have the best chance at winning hearts and minds to back that platform, and get them to agree to work together on promoting the platform rather than bashing each other in the primaries, and whoever gets the most support in the Primary becomes the POTUS candidate with the other to be on the cabinet, but all working toward the same goals of preserving out democracy and restoring our nation after all the damage that has been done in the last 2 years. We've let our primaries become a battle between divisive cults of personalities, rather than a chance to work together on policies that further our democracy; now it is time to put shared policies first, like restoring our democracy, and ask everyone to sign on to supporting and campaigning for those policies with their whole hearts and all their energy. If we can unite in a truly democratic party, then we can win the 2020 general election and secure our dreams.

I MISS THEM!!! OMG they are so cool and so nice! Barack was such a great president and Michelle was the coolest, sweetest, and strongest first lady ever. I love them. Our country was the greatest it's ever been with them in office.
