    I so enjoy this vanilla series, don't judge me but I was almost laughing when I saw you struggle on that junction :-D I was like "No Biffa, no anarchy, is it tough ah?" ahahah but joke aside, it's great to me see an expert in CS playing in vanilla, I make junction by myself but I usually use tunnels or ramps but sometimes they tend to be a little messy even if many times they work even better than the in game junctions, I will try your approach by lowering the terrain in the middle of the junction, very hard and long stuff to do but I find it very useful! Thanks for these tips.

    The episode I've been waiting for. How to tackle vanilla traffic. I've only watched all of them. :)
    Big traffick help I've found for consol, is to use bus routes to find any spots that forces cars to take ridiculous routs to turn around. Seriously, the car ai is the same as the bus route logic, so if your bus line needs to go to the highway to turn around, you need little u turn roads so traffic can turn around. Either a roundabout at each end of industry roads or just little u turn spots (like minimum length roads off the main streets or at the beginning of industry roads.)
    Grids and only having connecting roads is like death to traffic ai.

  • @bobblebardsley
    @bobblebardsley 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    14:16 That roundabout at the 'north-west' of the city is both horky and also borky, setting the priority road put a stop sign *on* the roundabout (where the truck stops at 14:16) and it also has one less lane between the off- and on- connections of the priority road, which I suppose makes sense in lane mathematics but I don't think it's your preferred way of doing roundabouts. I like how the train line ended up through the middle of the city, I live in Manchester and it reminds me a lot of Oxford Road station, which is elevated like that and had a cinema right next-door until a few years ago when the Cornerhouse closed.

    I've been playing vanilla on console for a year now. Some tips and tricks (
    T junctions are the biggest you can have, otherwise it's chaos, especially on Collector roads. Other junctions are ok in smaller suburban areas.
    Make sure you have multiple exits and entries that connect to Collector roads, otherwise - CHAOS.
    Roundabouts - no stop signs, you're doing more damage than good, especially as there is no give way. With stop - they stop even when there is no one on the road. Also, my smaller roundabouts tend to have 4 lane highway roads, ad it just makes the traffic flow better.
    I'm glad you're doing this, getting used to mods is so easy, console is a b*tch. Let's not get into terraforming....

    I play on vanilla on console and those cars that are stopping around 11:45 is because the next piece of road is too short. Effectively the next car can’t move up because there isn’t enough room on that piece of road until the first car has left that road and that car would not enter the node. Hopefully that clears it up!

For the snow dumps as for the garbage ones I think you should not put them all in the same place but spread them around your city because I think the trucks did not run too far away from their home. So maybe try one snow dump and one garbage dump at the oposite side so trucks could meet in the middle and then cover all of your city.

Instead the usual Y intersection, a one way elavated flyover removes route conflict. Internal, out of city, passenger and freight trains can all run on the same tracks. No need for freight transfer hubs. (Stations should still be off the main track, but reached from these same flyovers to/from the more distant track.)

    Love watching your videos. Wish I had time to keep playing, but with work, the little man and partner and BJJ I just don't have the time.
    I wish they did a map that has all the seasons that brings in every thing like heating and cooling and sun and snow. That would be very difficult indeed, but also rewarding I think.
    My question is though will we see an ultimate evolved Biffa in the next series? One that implements both mods and vanilla?

    If you set stop thingy at a junction it means it will stop, not give priority to other roads, no matter how much traffic is there, they’ll always stop, like the signs says, unfortunately there is not a (vanilla) sign that says: give way. Only for stopping. 12:00

    Man, I feel like this no-mod series is getting the best of you. You tunneled so hard on "keeping the rail-line the same height", instead of lowering it under the already elevated highway; and you literally lowered the rail-line right after getting it across the highway, of course, because the next segment is on ground level already.
    And the way your rail-line plows right through the area is making you lose a lot of 'interest', in the sense that your zoning got messed up badly. Looks nice, but I think some minor adjustments can make you save some zoning.

  • @gregbush8573
    @gregbush8573 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    bridge over the railroad going to ground level (basically is anyways, just in bridge format) would give you better access in between the river and the railroad, and likely another connection into your farming industry that you have across the river, which you could expand

    If Biffa had left space room for the future possible railway track already from the beginning he would not have had to demolish and move around all the important buildings like now!

    Hey Bif! It ain't the problem of nodes being to close too eachother. They are stopping for a junction. With TMPE you would have said "don't stop, enter the junction" with the junction restrictions tool. Cars are not allowed to stop at a junction node, so when the space between the next junction is full, they won't enter the junction

    Since New Tealand has liberal arts, maybe this city could have a different one? Also lol, I know you don't like tunnels, but lordy that was a lot of time spent on trying to avoid them! The train/highway was a little silly. The highway was already elevated and the train tracks were going to be lowered to the ground anyway on the other side! Although it is entertaining to watch :D (for other players who might want to try vanilla gameplay I recommend t4rget who does beautiful things with roads using no mods too, and also uses the landscaping sloping tool in great ways)

    The Problem with the cars stoppin so weirdly on some crossings is that they wait until the segment on the other side of the crossing is free. And when this is a very short segment - a.e. when two crossings are very close - they will wait rather long. And why didn't you just move the end loop of the tram to the deopt and make the rails come onto the road from both sides?

    I think you could curve the train rail coming out of the city and into the existing line coming under the bridge with a gentle grade. Little effort and cost.
    I think a Trade school would be great right there.

  • @thebondie85
    @thebondie85 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Biffa, if you had a dirt road have way along a short asymmetric road it will add a node in and you can change the dedicated turning lanes that way

      Also, if you want rid of a graveyard, use demolish building in natural disaster section, then you can demolish when flattened

    I know you hate to put anything underground, but those trail lines were absolutely the perfect example of something that needed to be below grade.

  • @_Mav

    Please put that train line underneath the highway instead of overtop. It has to drop anyways. So it would be better to drop before and leave the highway flat. You could even put a road under the highway next to the train track 🚂

    The highways (including the ramps) kinda want to be bendy (or rather continue the flow of the road - in a sense). So there are cases might be easier to first build the construction like at 14:50 with say gravel roads and then upgrade those to ramps, especially if you can not for one reason or another use mods like move it.

  • @Francois424
    @Francois424 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ah yes the finagling with Vanilla road/placement restrictions... Took what, 15min? (and that's edited footage) to get things right. Can't say I miss that.
    Love the overhead train station tho, it was either that or using underground railroad tracks (our central station in Montréal has railways passing under buildings, which is fitting since it's literally downtown).
    I would start planning the area you want for your "Tearantula metro hub", so it's already centered in a nice spot downtown... I dare say take out the cemetary (put more crematoriums) and try to fit it just beside that train station. With more high density in the area in the future, it would be a perfect spot (tho you might need to put offices around the hub like you're doing now). The hub gives you 6 connexions, and tthe way your town is growing, you're gonna need them. Plus you can phase the tram out (should you want to) as well.
    Loving this town. And I must say it's starting to get me itching for another new snow town of my own... Bah gonna have to wait until I get tired of Diablo II which is coming out next week.

    I think for a cold region it would make sense to have a University that specializes in nature, such as in the University of Svalbard or Alaska, so maybe a Uni that has a science building would make more sense than one with arts.

    I dont know why but I think the elder care would fit perfectly behind the train station. (If there's enough room)
    For the bend in the road you can put in the University campus and remove the business next to the campus. (Might need more space to expand the university).
