As a native Texan and current Ohioan, the gun range is just another part of daily life and is something I highly enjoy from time to time. But this video was an oddly refreshing take, especially from an outside perspective of someone who's never been to an actual range. Hats off to you, sir.
I love seeing people who aren't familiar with guns learn through experience. Watching them slowly learn the terminology and proper safety habits reminds me of how I learned. Understanding that they aren't toys but tools is a very important thing that even many Americans who grew up with them don't always respect.
leaning into the gun is an important technique. The shotgun wasn't cycling properly because you were leaning back. Beyond that, you did a good job for a first time. I personally would never take someone to an indoor range for a first time. The large concrete room just causes the sounds to reverberate and be louder. Honestly, it is the sounds of the guns firing that scares people the most. So being in an enclosed space like that just makes it worse.
Yeah, indoor range for a first timer is almost always sensory overload. You can't properly teach someone when you can literally feel the room vibrating from gunshots. I always take people that have questionable or no experience shooting to outdoor ranges during the off-peak hours for the first trip. Even if nothing else, you have to be aware of what everyone else is doing while at the range, not just yourself. The biggest safety concern while at a public range is the same as driving on public roadways. It doesn't matter how safe you are being if the person that happens to be next to you is being a hazard.

1:55 that weapon fires a .22LR. It’s a round meant for small game hunting or training. Pretty funky looking though. I’ve personally never seen one like that.
Same. Looks like a little 410 or something. That’s a wild looking 22. Like a scary big ass pitbull that doesn’t bite. It’s scary looking, but is about the least powerful gun you can get.
I started my son shooting an AR when he was 8 years old. He makes solid hits and has progressed to using a red dot. He does pretty well with a 9mm pistol. Great video
You did very well for a first-timer. I really respect your focus on SAFETY and keeping that firearm pointed TOWARDS THE TARGET at all times. If you pick up on the safety stuff right away, the shooting part will come fast. I think you have the potential to be a very good shooter if you're interested in pursuing it further. You really seemed to be enjoying yourself with that single-action Colt revolver, you're probably descended from an Irish Cowboy!
@Irish-Jesus the first time is a little nerve-wracking, you basically have controlled explosions going off right next to your hands and face 😮. But it gets easier, more fun and becomes strangly therapeutic.😂
She did, but if I recall her video correctly, the guy was giving her bigger stuff to impress/awe her, and that just made her skittish. Anytime I take a newbie to the range we start with a .22 pistol and work our way up in caliber before finishing with an AR and a Garand. If they hit a point in the middle where they've gone one past their comfort zone, we just dial it back and stick to what they're having fun with. Putting a newbie in a position to be intimidated by the thing they've heard so much disinformation about is a good way to ensure that their first range trip is their only range trip.
Personally I hate indoor ranges; the blast and the noise are awful. Shoot houses are fun so they get a pass, but I don't have access to those anymore. Outdoor ranges for the win!
Great for those of us in sprawling cities though where an outdoor range is a 2 hour drive away. I go to Shooters World in Orange County, FL. Amazing ranges and wide so it's not reverberating as bad
When I take a first timer to the range I always start with the 4 rules of firearm safety, then how to properly hold the firearm, then only 1 round, then work up from there. I have seen to many people with no experience not realize that a semi-auto is ready to fire again as soon as the trigger resets.
That's something movies and games don't often get right.. guns are FUCKING LOUD.. louder than you'd imagine and the concussive force out of certain rifles on top of that can be just nuts.
It's an acclimation, for sure. Even at 49, the first 10 or so rounds at an indoor range make me flinch, at least a little. Especially rifle rounds larger than .22LR. The more you go, the quicker your sensitivity drops.
When you turned around and motioned towards your shirt collar, I instantly knew you got hot brass down your shirt. That's something that should honestly be taught about before anyone shoots for the first time. Keeping the barrel down range and finger off the trigger is pretty self explanatory and easy enough to get across, but many experienced shooters forget that new shooters typically don't ever even think about the possibility of hot brass going down their shirt, especially for women in a bra. It is typically the first safety incident that first time shooters experience, and many accidental shootings have happened due to people behaving poorly. Glad to see you guys stayed safe and got to experience the "evil guns" that everyone wants to villainize.
Americans have been taught how to hold a gun when we had cap guns and in grade school. We learned to use BB guns just a bit later. At eleven years old, I shot my first rifle. It's sort of weird to see grown adults thinking a rifle or pistol is some sort of evil, poison which is terrifying to just hold. My question is how did they get to the range? Do they have a driver's license? Who does their cooking for them with a stove or oven?
Euros are truly weird people that have been propagandized and softened up since 1945, he is literally half a man. Their best men died between 1914-1945.

Good muzzle control on the semiautomatic pistol. Best of all, by learning what it was like with the .22LR, you learned to not drop the barrel in anticipation of the recoil. That's a big part of how you were so accurate with the bigger pistol, and a common issue for new shooters.

Ayeee nice man, I love hitting the range on the weekends, and to kinda answer your question at 23:07 it really depends on everything from the size of the round to the length of the barrel to the temperature outside when you’re shooting 😂 But generally good handguns are accurate to around 20 or 30 meters Rifles are hard to gauge since there’s so many rounds and barrels but for the most part if you see it clearly with your naked eye, you can reach it And shotguns are completely different because the big 3 shells that everyone uses are: Buckshot-used for hunting mostly, fires 2-4 large projectiles, pretty accurate up to about 30 meters Birdshot- what most people think about when they hear “shotgun”, just a ton of tiny projectiles meant to hit (you guessed it) birds without accuracy being too much of a factor And my favorite, slug- literally a 1 ounce metal ball that’ll blow a hole in pretty much whatever you put in front of it 😂
*0:35** Sounds like bombs going off... said by someone that has NEVER been around a bomb going off.* I used to live near a Military Bombing Field. You know something when you hear that stuff go off.
My great-grandfather was one of the Irishmen who used guns to create the modern Irish state in 1916-1920. He came to America just after a stint in a British jail about six months before independence was achieved.
Sadly due to the ventilation of power and lead, you basically are exposed to whatever temperature it is outside in most ranges. It can be brutally hot and cold. If you were in Texas, it's no surprise you guys were sweating your asses off.
The 380 pistol malfunctioned probably because you lead the slide forward instead of just letting it go. The slide didn't seat all the way in the forward position. I'm surprised they didn't tell him. Did the same thing with both pistols
I hate that for the pistols they didn’t teach you the “thumbs forward” grip. It gives so much more control and helps get back on target after firing… just my own opinion from someone who carries and has gotten slidebite a few times from poor hand placement
Wait, Try Channel Irish Jesus? Thats so cool. Theres SO much Irish history and influence in America, its a shame Irish people dont visit more often. You should come to Boston.
If I might make a recommendation: try an outdoor range next time. Personally, I hate the reverberations of indoor ranges cause it makes me jump reflexively, and no matter what I do for ear pro, i hear vibrations after shooting. Outdoor range, no such issues and usually no rso complaining that I fired twice in 30 seconds.

As an Irish(born) American, thank you for coming & enjoying our freedoms here with an open mind. I wish more people from home did not stigmatize firearms as much. Some of the family think I'm mad lad for how passionate I am about firearms & the modern American minuteman philosophy.
"50 caliber pistol!" Zooms in on a .22 lr. 😂😂😂
Welcome to my world, Irish Jesus!!
It’s crazy hahaha
dude showing the ruger 22 saying its a 50 cal 2 handed pistol had me cracking up
When my daughter was 13 she was outshooting most men at the shotgun club lol. I taught her myself. My son shoots at olympic levels. My other daughter is a crack shot too.
You study teaching your children young so that they have respect. Our right to bear arms comes with personal responsibility.
As does every other right. Good job preparing your kids for life.
How much freedom is Wilky giving Irish Jesus? ALL the freedom! Fair play to ya, Paul, you didn’t flinch the barrel on any of those pistols! You had some great teachers too!
Irish Jesus you're a natural born warrior. You were uneasy at first and overcame. Hell yeah
First seeing your videos. Welcome to America having the balls to come see how guns are and how safe most of us law abiding citizen are with them.
It was a fun experience for sure
1:55 that weapon fires a .22LR. It’s a round meant for small game hunting or training. Pretty funky looking though. I’ve personally never seen one like that.
"FifTy cAliBeR PiStuHl"
I'm from texas and am also a gun owner. I love seeing your excitement and curiosity. I'm happy for you that you got to experience this.
Yeah Diane did a firing video but she seemed scared shitless the entire time
I kinda was too haha , it’s fun but more scary I think 😂
@Irish-Jesus the first time is a little nerve-wracking, you basically have controlled explosions going off right next to your hands and face 😮. But it gets easier, more fun and becomes strangly therapeutic.😂
@@Irish-Jesus yeah but you are watched by experts
@@Irish-Jesus No true Irishman is scared of firearms.
Especially indoors.
This is my Local range. Glad too see!!! Awesome video! Conroe, TX did you guys go out on the lake?
Yeah me too! Yall should of went to papa's on the lake on Thursday for steak night!
Conroe here also, but I haven’t made it out to BTO yet, I usually frequent Saddle River…just haven’t made the time unfortunately haha
It's an acclimation, for sure. Even at 49, the first 10 or so rounds at an indoor range make me flinch, at least a little. Especially rifle rounds larger than .22LR. The more you go, the quicker your sensitivity drops.
That's the feeling of freedom. Lol
Kid: “The only time you put your finger on the trigger is if your finna shoot it”
Irish J: *Hands Kid gun*
Kid: *Touches trigger* 😂
We always told our kids “Keep your finger out of the ring unless you want to marry it”
you kept a good stance and absorbed the recoil like a pro great time brother. God blessed Texas and God blessed Ireland!
That's a really nice range.
It's not bad, but The Range at Austin has pretty much spoiled me. They're almost TOO sleek and shiny.
Saddle River Range is better. It’s just south of this one in Conroe.
11:39 The guy casually shooting a Mauser next to him.
"It'll sound like bombs going off"
I'm sure there's an Irish independence joke in there somewhere
Welcome to Texas 🤠 We’re glad to have you.
Can we give props to the instructor on the pistol side, dude had so much patience and met every question with an answer
The man bun flopping each round kills me as a Texan lmao..but well done and welcome!
Great video paul. Glad you could enjoy the range without being judgemental.
He had me worried right from the "MAN BUN" !!!
pretty sure that guy is NOT military trained. the chicken wing arm is the giveaway. looks like ya had fun though. thats what matters
right?
There was SO much wrong with the (lack of) instruction.... I half expected this video to end in an unfortunate mishap.
@@Todrick451 Dude, cmon, no you didnt
@@GokuGangsta Oh, I very much did...
At the very least like that British couple where she flagged the hell out of him.
At least theRSO was on top of it in that vid.

But loading multiple rounds for a newb... that's just foolish and asking for a darwin award... there are so many videos of people handling recoil poorly, resulting int he gun pointing directly at their own head... with another round in the camber.
Example:

@Todrick451 dude cmon, don't post links, that's gay
@@Todrick451 dude im talking about this guy, not some British couple, and the second video is a guy with a massive revolver, biggest thing this guy shot was a 12 guage, both of those videos have nothing to do with this guy, so I dont understand why you commented them
I'm surprised they let you film inside the range, even in Texas.
I absolutely love you on the Try channel, and this just came up in my recommends. First, I'm glad you got a chance to experience a range day, as someone who has them all the time myself, I'm absolutely thrilled that you got to have this experience. Second, sub!
Cheers!
Good muzzle control on the semiautomatic pistol. Best of all, by learning what it was like with the .22LR, you learned to not drop the barrel in anticipation of the recoil. That's a big part of how you were so accurate with the bigger pistol, and a common issue for new shooters.
6:30 lol ... yea we're so used to it we don't flinch while at the range lol .. used to wen I was 3 lol but for anyone going to an indoor range that don't know .. wear plugs and ear covers ... way better protection
I use to go in there all the time with my dad back when it was Shooter's Station. Miss him dearly, this video brought me some very happy happy memories.
Hey yea I was in Conroe and it was awesome, I’m glad my videos gave you back memories and it would have been so fun to hunt for Bigfoot 😆 I’ll be back to the us this year so who knows
double ear pro is a huge, huge help if youre not used to the noise. wear foam earplugs under your muffs. ESP with an AR, theyre crazy loud indoors.
That feeling of empowerment and self-reliance you got when shooting... that's what politicians NEVER want you to feel.
"A 50 caliber pistol!"
Relax man. It's a 22.
Calm down mate, Welcome to freedom !
This video reminds me of how lucky I am to be an American! God bless the USA! So glad to see you guys get to experience what most Americans take for granted. 😊
Ayeee nice man, I love hitting the range on the weekends, and to kinda answer your question at 23:07 it really depends on everything from the size of the round to the length of the barrel to the temperature outside when you’re shooting 😂
But generally good handguns are accurate to around 20 or 30 meters
Rifles are hard to gauge since there’s so many rounds and barrels but for the most part if you see it clearly with your naked eye, you can reach it
And shotguns are completely different because the big 3 shells that everyone uses are:
Buckshot-used for hunting mostly, fires 2-4 large projectiles, pretty accurate up to about 30 meters
Birdshot- what most people think about when they hear “shotgun”, just a ton of tiny projectiles meant to hit (you guessed it) birds without accuracy being too much of a factor
And my favorite, slug- literally a 1 ounce metal ball that’ll blow a hole in pretty much whatever you put in front of it 😂
Love it! Hope you had a great time!
M&P15! WOO!! Had mine since 2011 and I LOVE IT!
His reactions after every shot are priceless. It wasn't loud for the online audience though. Hope you had fun.
*0:35** Sounds like bombs going off... said by someone that has NEVER been around a bomb going off.*
I used to live near a Military Bombing Field.
You know something when you hear that stuff go off.
I just went to a range today to fire a pistol left to us by my dad. It’s an older pistol with rounds you can only order online in my State.
You did good. It's fun once you're comfortable. Diane would be Proud
You anticipated the kick which caused you to jerk the trigger a bit.
Nice job though. It takes practice.
Irish Jesus is an OPERATOR with that .380. You were touching holes with that bad boy. Good Job!
I thought this guy was just a character on Irish People Try.
I was a few years ago, I left to do some traveling and make my own content 🙌
My great-grandfather was one of the Irishmen who used guns to create the modern Irish state in 1916-1920. He came to America just after a stint in a British jail about six months before independence was achieved.
Anyone else thinking "Leather Jacket Guy" would've been absolutely epic in this video?
this makes me so proud
Being Irish ☘️ and Texan this is SO COOL!!!!!
I've never seen Vietnam Jungle Boots with speed-lacing like that. Looks nice!
It really surprised me that a dude with a man bun would act like shooting a .223 was scary
Sadly due to the ventilation of power and lead, you basically are exposed to whatever temperature it is outside in most ranges. It can be brutally hot and cold. If you were in Texas, it's no surprise you guys were sweating your asses off.
Love how he kept calling a hunting rifle a sniper rifle tad bit less than a sniper! But it's still just as effective.
The way his little man-bun jiggles when he fires cracks me up!
Wait, Try Channel Irish Jesus? Thats so cool. Theres SO much Irish history and influence in America, its a shame Irish people dont visit more often. You should come to Boston.
This shop is right down the street from me. Great shop
I love how his first reaction after setting down a weapon was to put his hands up just to show everyone that he was no longer holding it 😂
That man bun twichen every time you shoot looks hilarious.
You did really well! Obviously a good student. Fun, isn't it?
21:00: He rode the slide forward. Instructor told him to pull it back, but he pulled it back and then slowly pushed it forward.
This is a nice indoor range. Ive been there many times. I hope you didn't skip the food in Conroe...its delicious. hope you had a great time.
Jesus, you did awesome your first time out! Good for you to at least try it. 🎉
BTO is such a great business. When I need gun stuff I always check their site first.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Legend has it that the Irishman, after using an AR for the first time, gets suddenly vigilant towards folks in red coats and tall black boots.
You should tour the dragon man’s place in Las Vegas. He is the single largest collector of machine guns in the United States. He also owns the most tanks. And the most artillery in civilian hands. Also the most ammunition held by a single person. There are videos of his place on TH-cam. He is a wild ass dude. Genuinely he could outfit a small countries military by himself.
Irish Jesus started humming the Broad Black Brimmer while shooting the AR.
They should have helped more with your posture. We have many guns here in Texas and if you are ever around here again, wed love to show you a more free environment to safely practice. Between us all we have over 200. Good video.
I didn't watch the full video, but that looks like Big Tex Ordiance and it's a great gunshop. Great counter staff and ammo prices are reasonable. if I'm in t he conroe area I always pop in a few times in the year.
