Hello. Just found your relaxing enjoyable site. Love isle of wight. Have subscribed etc and told our friends too. We're in rural Norfolk. Best wishes David and Beverley
Another quiet Sunday morning with a cuppa tea 🍵 and dunking biscuits & now it's IOW time! That ferry crossing is pricey for what it is🤔 fish & chips sounded disappointing but the Cakes looked 'yummy ' ❤🤩😋 any news on the new van 🤔🤔
On our way home from an Isle of Wight trip and stayed in three of your stops from this series. Thank you. Got chatting into a couple from Isle of Man who mentioned you had visited there, so will be checking out that play listas we would like to try there someday soon. (It's a series from before I started watching you.) Thanks again.
Hello both. Your videos are excellent. As good as any documentary on the TV. I would say a light and informative relaxed style that is really easy to watch. Nice to watch the Island on TH-cam. I commute on that hovercraft daily to the mainland. Looking forward to the next video.
Born and bred on the Island, remember the hovercraft accident, an SRN 6 hovercraft, operated by Hovertravel Limited, overturned at the end of a journey from Ryde to Southsea when half a mile south-west of Clarence Pier. on Saturday, 4th March, 1972; 26 persons, including the captain, were aboard the craft, and four lives were lost. This was the first hovercraft casualty in passenger service in the United Kingdom involving loss of life. glad you enjoyed you visit
Went to Isle of Wight when I was young, last time I was 15 and it was memorable as when we were there Elvis Presley died and I was very upset! Need to go back there I think. Xx
Funny seeing you at Eastney. We are there often as we like that stretch of beach and my wife loves paddle boarding either on the main beach round the corner or from the boat club near where you parked. It’s the cost of the crossing that has put us off doing the Isle Of Wight because for roughly the same price France wins every time! We’ve been there on the pedestrian ferry, and my lorry driving took me there, but I’m looking forward to your videos in place of a trip!
I was living in Southsea back in 1972 and saw the upturned hovercraft, it was spine chilling. The weather was horrendous and it begged the question why the service was running.
Oh it’s great to be being taken back to the IOW with you. Such wonderful memories of this place. That looked a good first park up with others around too. Looking forward to the rest of the series. 😃👍🏻
Unfortunately, the authorities have put a stop to that park up on the beach at Bembridge. The Isle of Wight council have a very negative attitude to wild camping. Fort Victoria near Yarmouth is OK though - its not under the control of the council..
Lovely relaxing video. Brought back memories of visits to the Portsmouth, Isle of Wight areas in the past when my sister lived in Emsworth. Loved going to the pub on the tip of Spice Island for a beer and fish and chips watching the ferries go by! Looking forward to where you are going next week!
Another great video from the little red camper. I thought the ferry prices seemed very expensive. I wonder if the red funnel line from Southampton to Cowes would have been cheaper? Anyway, was lovely to see your adventure on the Island. I agree with Carol's assessment of the fish and chips....looked a bit "average" to me so here's hoping you find a better chippy. Take care my two lovely internet people and enjoy your adventures. I look forward to seeing more! 👍❤️
Oh my I’m looking forward to this trip, loved it there when we took our caravan over there, it was lovely, miss my husband more sometimes and this is one of them, never mind I will enjoy your visit can’t wait for next Friday.
Great vlog, that ferry service at £30+ per mile is pricey. There is a large Hovercraft museum sited near to the seaplane slipway in Lee on the Solent; one of the large cross channel hovercraft, amongst several other examples, is sited there. I live a couple of miles away in the town Gosport, an old military town, both Army and Royal Navy had establishments here. Two of the Palmerston Solent forts are up currently for sale and Fort Gilkicker , on the shore at Gosport, is being sympathetically remodelled into luxury apartments.
Thanks once again for a nice one. The Isle of White is on my bucket list for the next time we are back home. The prices look out of the world, yes we have been away for a long time
Hi Ken and Carol . A few years ago we were going to travel to France Via the Channel Islands , wild camping a few days on route , but we were told we needed a campsite booking before they let us get off the boat, no such rules then with the Isle of Wight .
Really enjoyed this. We used to visit the IOW at least once a year when we lived in Surrey. Interesting history. Shame about the fish. Lovely Parkup. Looking forward to seeing what you get up to in one of our favourite places 😁
Glad you liked our island. For future reference a membership of the C&CC would have saved you 50% for a motorhome crossing ...... it`s the only way can can afford to travel as much as we do 😉 Edit ........ best fish and chips are at Oz`s Place on Pan estate in Newport, giant fish and a small chips between you ( which you will struggle to eat between you )🤩
Ahhh my favourite, family retreat! loads can recommend on the Freshwater/Yarmouth side. In Yarmouth there is a lovely place to have breakfast/Lunch and enjoy a fabulous walk along the estuary where the river Yar is and that’s Off The Rails. Even their menus are in the style of old newspapers and the building is the old railway station. For an evening meal and for somewhere to park up and watch the sea - but do have to pay for parking is in Totland - The Water Front. There is also the Red Lion in Freshwater. If you drive just past the pub and down the lane it takes you to the causeway where you can walk into Yarmouth and it brings you by Off The Rails. How long do you plan on staying on the Island both? you will have a wonderful time there.
Great relaxing video again thanks. We saw parts of the mulberry harbour on the beaches of Arromanches. They're huge. Hard to get your head around how they could possibly float! Afraid your chips looked like fryups 🙂🐕🚙
I haven't been over to the Island for over 20 years. My eldest sister had her honeymoon there as well. Where you were parked up at the beginning wasn't too far from where I grew up.
Great opener to this series - nothing like the start of something new The hovercraft accident I always remember as someone my parents knew in the village we lived in was aboard it but he managed to escape Lovely parkup
We have parked up by the Hayling Ferry on a few occasions, nice spot and good value especially as the Hayling Island sea front car parks cost £16.00 for any length of stay with a camper!! Looking forward to hearing about the rest of your trip.
Sadly over the years I have found people recommend a place and it doesn't come up to expectations, some years back myself and a group of colleges were in Dover we stopped in one of the companies stores asked where to get sandwiches told an address well the local rats liked it. A good fish and chip shop cooks the fish to order if greasy the oil needs changing, I've got the best quality control in my cat if fish good eats straight away if not turns her nose up and walks away both cats traveled with my late mother and myself in large cage.
It's not a long ferry, I'm a regrettable smoker and it's a lot to tidy up for no reason and you can't throw them into the sea so I agree no smoking. Don't get me started on vapes.😂

Yay! Squealed when I heard this was coming out this evening! We came back from the IOW last Friday and had a good time. We visited Ryde on our last day whilst waiting for our ferry crossing later in the afternoon. ❤
Hello Carol and Ken. In January 2020 I booked a trip to England, including a short visit to the Isle of Wight. Alas, it never happened due to the pandemic, so I'm glad I can travel with you. Lovely first episode 👍
We currently just use our mobile phones. I have an unlimited contract with EE and Carol has 3. So far we have managed without a router and aerial on the roof. Will see how we go in the new van.
Fish and chips didn't look great, not a patch on the Magpie in Whitby, I did cross to France on the Hovercraft in 1980, it was called a flight, but it was great.
Throughly enjoy your videos. So interesting. Your choice of music is good too. You two look familiar...i think i might have sat next to you two on an easyjet flight to lanzarote a few years back..did you stay at princess yaiza? I went there the following year! Very nice place.
I'm intrigued and some might say nosey. At around 7.07 does anyone know what that building is above the ship with what appears to be columns. Is it all part of the same complex with the big house which has scaffolding around it?
Oh no - why couldn't you have started this series a few weeks ago? We go to the IOW in 2 weeks - would have been great to see all your videos before we go. It will be interesting to see if we come across some of the same places as you visit. Thank you for yet another wonderful video - but I have to ask where you got those cakes. Would love to visit that bakery.

Most of it is shot on iPhone 14 Pro Max. I have Osmo 3 which I was quite disappointed with. I am going to wait 6 months before going for the Osmo 4. 👍
Did you just follow a tour bus? Smart..

Refreshments are cashless at Wightlink..😡
Unfortunately 😕
I’ve been looking forward to this series ever since you said you were coming over, I was hoping to bump into you but if we were ever in the same place it was always a day apart 😂. We have only recently become residents so I look forward to seeing where you visited to get some ideas. 🍓🧶🌈💙
What a shame we didn’t get to meet you. Hope you enjoy what we show of the island 🙂
