I've always had this inner desire to move to Savannah. I think it's the history, the haunting nature, the architecture, the location etc. So I decided to take the leap and will be moving there and I can't be more excited to learn more about the city I hope to call home for many years!

Hopefully everyone moving here leaves their bad characteristic in their old city. I'm so tired of the new yorkers moving down here with bad attitudes.

@@adisc7475 I moved down there in July 2020 :). I now live in Indiana (closer to family). However Savannah will always hold a special place in my heart. Love and miss Savannah 💕
I spent time in Savannah while being stationed at Hunter Army Airfield(1967) and returned to live there in 1968-1970 after a tour of Vietnam. I still consider Savannah my favorite city in the USA. The uniqueness of the city comes from both its historical history, its structural buildings and parks and the friendliest people I have ever met. I lived on both Habersham and Houston Street and remember hearing Pete Fountain's concert at Forsythe Park. Ironically my son married a girl with the first name of Savanna. They spent their honeymoon in Savannah and hope to live there someday.
The first time I visited this city I feel in love with her. This fall she will be the place where I marry my wonderful fiancé and spend my honeymoon!

I adore Savannah, Georgia. I spent a great deal of time there while I was living on HHI., SC. for 3 years in the 1980's. I am from Wyoming, so I was so enchanted with all of the lovely, historical surroundings. I was always exploring and wanting to see and learn more. I wasn't really ready to come back to Wyoming, but I have returned a couple of times to Savannah. If my family didn't live here in Wy., I would definitely return and make it my home 💕 I absolutely LOVED the book and movie..."In the Garden of Good and Evil".
I think I lived there in a "past life".😉

I love Savanah, it reminds me of European Cities such as my home town, of Warsaw, only my town, is slightly, older. I love cities, which respect, history.

Very informative, however, you left out so much of the historical aspects of slavery in Savannah, which I can understand you wanting to forget, but its part and a sad part of our American history and should not be forgotten. A beautiful city and God Bless Savannah.

Planning a trip to Savannah and Charleston and from what I see on the web and via Google Earth, Savannah is definitely more interesting than that Charleston. And I am certain those people on the message boards saying you should spend a day in Savannah but a week in Charleston are Charlestonians desperate to get their city some attention.
I loved the tour busses cause, actors jump on at certain stops and tell a story about the building your at or about the area. The Forest Gump dude was a trip too. We stayed at a B&B also some of Forest Gump was filmed in Beaufort South Carolina too💯🥰🥰 Tybee Island was great also but I know I'll never be able to walk up the light house again 🙃 Dinner on the river boat 🚢 was the Best ever🍹🥗🍤🥩💯🤗
John Duncan was history professor when I was at Armstrong, but unfortunately I never took his class. Huge regret there. We did visit his book shop several years ago before he passed away & he gave us a tour of his home, talked about the movie, and showed us some unusual items. He was so proud of his involvement with Midnight in the Garden of Good & Evil. He said he was typecast as a busybody--typical Duncan.

Currently rereading Midnight. Read it when it first came out and it was enchanting and strange. I moved to Savannah in November of ‘19.
Having lived here for less than 90 days, Berendts’ 25 year old novel is still absolutely spot on regarding the city and the atmosphere.

I totally agree with you about the Book and it upsets me that the screenwriter for the movie didn't read the book. He/she just made up the story line after hearing a three minute recap. It would have been nice if the movie was more like the book.
Savannah I try to go at least once a year
I live pretty much downtown Savannah, just moved here...less than a mile from Forsyth Park. I am loving it here...but I would not venture out to walk at night. it's a beautiful city rich in history.

I don't know about the rest of Savannah being haunted, but I know the jail at Fort Pulaski is definitely haunted. I was there a few years ago with another person. We were in the section which has the jail, he'd walked on ahead. I was lingering at one of the cells. Something come up behind me and said in an audible voice, "boo." I shit you not. I got chills when I turned around and there was no one there.

Beautiful city. We were there last week. When taking the riverboat cruise, I noticed our paddle wheel didn't move, but your video shows it moving. Does it only move as part of the visual effect where other props on the boat provide the power?

Johnson, Wright, Ellis & Telfair were the first four squares. Bull Street would take you around Johnson & Wright. To the west of Bull is Barnard Street that would take you around Ellis & Telfair. Ellis Square was the site of the original City Market.
@@khshannon2269 It is also nice to note that the City Hall is located directly across from the end of BULL Street. All you have to do is add the second half of the word and you describe what every politician 'speaks'.

I go to Savannah Georgia twice a year . I've always wanted to buy a old house there and restore it . My favorite place to stay is the motel that everyone say has spirits . Well I've not seen anything or heard anything but I'm sure if I let my imagination run wild I would see or hear something . Am not saying I don't believe in ghost just saying I've never seen one . If I do am sure I would poop on myself .
I've lived in Savannah 76 years and have never seen a ghost or heard anyone mention one until the Midnight book brought all the tourists here and someone decided that they needed entertainment.

old town trolly sucks savannah pedicab is 23 years old and where the best way to see the city
Juan Jimenez old town Trolley is an excellent way to introduce yourself to the city with a “Cliff Notes” version of things to see. The option of being able to embark/disembark is also lovely.
Savannah pedicab is great for an Uber-style transportation, not so much for an entire day.
It is difficult for someone pedaling to narrate.
Helene, since you decided to visit Charleston instead, you will be close enough to Sav. to be able to take in the city either during the "safe" daylight hours but there are some nighttime tours you can take and still enjoy the city. When we go to Sav. I ALWAYS "pack heat" (carry a gun - I have a concealed weapons permit). It's a beautiful historic city for sure, but like I said, the "thugs" have made it an unsafe place to go out at night.
I have my gun permit, but I'm not able to carry. Are you able to pack heat (very cool by the way) because of your military status or due to the different gun laws in the South? If that's the case I'm going to seriously think about moving. I think the South is absolutely gorgeous & the ppl are just as kind.
I'm going to stay in Charleston, but visit Savannah w/my Glock. Thanks again Bobby.

@@Chief205 You can get a concealed weapon permit in Savannah. I know a lot of ladies who have a little derringer in their purses when out at night ( and know how to use them).
I really tried to watch this all the way through but tired of the commercials every two minutes. This must run on an endless loop on some obscure city cable channel. I would love it if there could be a second shorter version without all the adverts.
(Speaking of the commercials... who in blazes would travel all the way to Savannah to eat at a *Japanese* restaurant??? That would be like going to Denver and eating at a Joe's Crab Shack.)

Actually no true...the city was built by military engineer. Slavery was illegal in Savannah and the colony of Ga. until 1750. So it was partially built by slaves as well as free men.

I am 48 years old and grew up in South Georgia. I know Savannah like the back of my hand. These fake and exaggerated accents are getting on my nerves. SOME, are authentic, but the acted ones make me wanna vomit.
