  • You can order my new book 8 RULES OF LOVE at 8rulesoflove.com or at a retail store near you. You can also get the chance to see me live on my first ever world tour. This is a 90 minute interactive show where I will take you on a journey of finding, keeping and even letting go of love. Head to jayshettytour.com and find out if I'll be in a city near you. Thank you so much for all your support - I hope to see you soon.
Today, I am going to share with you a conversation I had with serial entrepreneur, author, podcast host, and inspirational speaker Ed Mylett. In this interview, I talk about why we should build and practice a morning routine to help incorporate positivity in our day, the two opposite sides of ego that we don’t know about, and how being in service of others is a reflection of inner self.
    Key Takeaways:
    00:00 Intro
03:18 Jay explains how we can create calm instead of looking for it.
05:10 What am I going to learn from a monk?
09:04 Digest this: Plant trees under whose shade you do not plan to sit.
11:36 How to avoid becoming the person you think other people want you to be.
15:01 The two lies we’ve been told growing up.
20:19 The 3 core aspects to incorporate in your morning routine.
28:09 Jay talks about the two opposite sides of ego.
30:27 What it means to find yourself when you lose yourself in service of others.
34:02 How do you take control of something you can’t control?
37:51 The monk life teaches you how to be child-like.
41:18 Do this if you want to start living a better life.

37:00 Just to remind myself: You have plenty of time ahead to live, pay off the loans that you had taken off, and then detach yourself from them. Don't panic, it's just a matter of 6-7 months and you are good to go.❤❤❤

Reminding me of the importance of putting on the Armour of God each and every day to fight the unseen battle, as the Apostle Paul instructed us to do in Ephesians 6: 10-18. It's crucial!

I look at Self Honesty as observing your human body and mind and actions without judgement, good or bad, but simply as the observing awareness of yourself. Awareness can be placed wherever awareness chooses to expand and valuable in service to others.

Books also talk to u. I experienced it several time. i keep book in my room which i read, these are mainly written by the spiritual persons. So it happened to me that i come accross an new idea or a thought or an information on something that i later discovered in the book that i was keeping in my roon n got amazed to find that i was literally having that idea even before reading the book. Since it happened several time i came to a conclusion that either its my mind which was interacting with the objects i was having in my room (thats why they say that you are impacted by your surroundings and company) or these are books itself which were interacting with my subconscious mind.

Meaning can be found in anything and everything. Whether you think for yourself or follow others, what you're really after are experiences of being alive. The search for meaning is a blind man in a dark room looking for a black cat that isn't there until Shroedinger opens his box.

The concept of a morning ritual is also a very Judeo-Christian one as is self sacrifice and service, demonstrated most beautifully by Jesus. I only wish modern “Christians” understood this more fully and abandoned their cultural and political idolatry.

Monks are separated from the world. It makes sense that they would be calmer. They are insulated from the negativity of the world. This is not what every day people experience.

Not factually true. They have to also live with laymen and try to help them with their problems. They also go through severe austerity and control their mind and diet that to which we couldn't do. Both lives can be easy or hard.
