Charles Häberl - Introduction to Mandaic.
Introduction to Mandaic, the liturgical language of the Mandaean religious community formerly resident in southern Iraq and Iran. Through this course, students will become familiar with its unique script, its orthography, and its basic vocabulary. Additionally, students will demonstrate familiarity with the basic grammar of the language through readings from the classical texts of Mandaeism, with a particular focus upon the Teachings of the Angels, popularly known as the Mandaean Book of John. Mandaic is an Eastern Aramaic language, and while no prior knowledge of Aramaic is necessary, this course will be of maximal benefit to students of other Semitic languages from the period of Late Antiquity.

Our religion are different from Christians and muslims because no one can become from us, your blood must be Mandaean, that's why you can't find any Chinese or American are mandaean.
You can currently find a lot of us in Australia, but in the past we used to live in Iraq and Iran on the banks of rivers, we practice our customs and traditions in water cuz we believe water is symbol of purity.
It so sad to see that we moved to another country because of the discrimination tha we had there.
We believe that we are the world's first religions. We believe in God and follow Adam, Seth, Idris, Noah, Sam bin Noah,
John Baptist (i don't know their name in English but i know only John Baptist that we followed he is like jesus for Christian to us)
I hope this information helped you a little since I'm not good at English.

Good general information but Mandaeans live all over the the world between australia us and Europe and only few left in Iraq and the best scholar who wrote about them is ES Drower to get a better view and clearer on the sect. And the bowls the professor talked about had nothing to do with the and part of the religion but Aramaic language was the official language in the Middle East so people used it everywhere, between Iraq to Palestine. And still some villagers in Syria talk Aramaic to this day.

ES Drower got almost everything wrong about their origin. They're Gnostics of the Antiquity, genetically and theologically. Instead ES Drower speculated that they were originally a pagan religion with origins in Iran and Iraq.

@@duhaa6754 I have a few questions if you wouldn't mind answering.
      1. During previous research on the religion I was made to believe that your holy book is known as the Mandaean Book of John. Is this considered a separate book, the same book, or just a smaller part of this "ginza rabba"
      2. Do you know of a reliable place I could do research on the Mandaic religion/read this ginza rabba or other Mandean texts online? I've found several websites but they often seem to be unclear and occasionally contradictory. I can read German and Russian alongside English so if there isn't something in English I would still be happy to be given your recommendation though I would prefer English.
      3. This is kind of a stupid question but I'm a stickler. Is "ginza rabba" not supposed to be capitalized or was that just a mistake? I can never be too sure on these sorts of things.

I'm not sure but I think Mandaean is the only Semitic in the Levant and Mesopotamia which has true vowels (i.e. not diacritics as in abja) and this is wonderful for one who hates their abscence in Abja scripts.
Another very good aspect of Mandaeans is that they abhor circumcision. Unfortunately, they still sacrifice animals, which is utterly sad.

We believe that Jesus isn’t gods son, we believe in him as a profit, basically god created many profits, the first religion to every come in history are mandaeans among with Jews, we have certain celebrations and (eid) we also fast sometimes (not eating meat during eid) we are a small community since many of us were killed a long time ago because of Christians (they killed us and threatened us, along with Jews, because they tried to kill us as well) if you want you can look up “ darfesh” it is very special to mandaeans
