I actually thought that there would be no video actually explaining all the notes on a Bb clarinet. This is the only video on YT which i could find able to help me good enough. I appreciate the effort, keep it up
I used to play clarinet but now i completely forgot the fingering chart.. this is such a great help!! Thank you soooo much for your effort!!!! Fighting!!!
Commenters: If you only speak English, don’t worry. The video is very thorough; the notes and diagrams speak for themselves. I love the concept of a “Point Finger.” Very helpful. 🎖Five Stars, 1 like & 1 Subscribe.
Good Day, i am very very new to clarinet and using TH-cam and Google to find my way around. Your video is superb and the best I have found so far. Thank you very much. PS. I am 61 and started learning the recorder (by myself) about 1 year ago. Have now moved on to the Alto Recorder and now trying the clarinet
Thank you I can't figure out if I was playing the third high C correct and I needed to know how it sounded ! This video is amazing and very helpful I'll be sure to come back to it !
Thank you very much for the high quality fingering video. Loved that you did a rotating video showing exactly where to place one’s fingers as well as the matching chart. Also pointing out the key notes and pattern of altissimo hole will help me remember the pattern. I have been playing for 9 months and will soon get into the altissimo range.
It is a great great great high quality video,,,,, the best and the greatest video not only for beginners even for professionals,,,,, you are a great man,,,, no words to explain,,,,, million thanks for doing such a great work
I like how the video is not rushed. He holds the tone for a long time. That is VERY helpful for me, getting serious on Bb clarinet after 60 years of saxophone.
As someone who is in 8th grade and dont know those fingerings this has helped alot! Thank you i really appreciate this! I found this on my recommendations so it new that i was struggling with these notes!🤣
Awnestly, even though I couldn't understand A word U were saying, I ENJOYED THIS, I myself play Clarinet, I came here because I couldn't understand one of the notes from my band class, And It really helpped alot!
The explanations were amazing ! I have trouble remembering which notes on the sheet belong to which keys on the clarinet (I'm a true beginnner 😄) and these diagrams were truly helpful!
Theres also a 3rd fingering for regular Eb/high Bb. If you play a regular E/high B and press the low Bb/high F key, you can also play a regular Eb/high Bb
thank you so much this is such a helpful video to understand the different keys in the clarinet, how a given pitch is produced and in general how the instrument works, also any concerns about intonation that players might have. so helpful for me as a composer to see this, it really helps me understand clarinetists better! just one question, is this a boehm clarinet you're using?
Thank you so much for this video it is one of the best fingering chart videos I have ever come across. This saved me loads of practice time while practicing for auditions.
Hello I really need help, the way am been taught to do my fingering is different from the way you are doing yours, can I send a video you check it and correct me if possible please?🙏
My dumbass fr forgot to start hitting the octave point so I thought my clarinet was stuck on low octave 🤦♂️ but seriously thank you so much for this video!! (I saved it in my best videos playlist so I can come back to it any time I need the help!)
High notes require delicate control and must be in tune with the orchestral harmony, so orchestras use a variety of techniques to suit the situation :-)
My question about this is how do you articulate the higher notes, I've been able to hit a high A as my highest note so far (as a freshman in high school), but I can't figure out what articulation I have to replicate/to do for the higher notes like G#, high A and above
@@TheHispanicUsername I think the trick for altissimo notes is just putting your bottom lip lower on the reed. I'm not sure tho but it works for me. Maybe not for everyone
is this for French system or German? I play flute and also sax and now got a Buffet clarinet and trying for the 1st time to play and some keys sound differently from what is demonstrated.. im confused...
I’ve just started playing clarinet a little less than a month ago and I was wondering if me being able to play the A at 17:00 is a good note for someone who has been playing for around a month? I have been practicing on a #4 reed.
Same fingerings used for two different notes, that is because they are same sound ex) C# =Db If you cannot understand above, I recommend you to study basic notes, sharp and flat.
I came back to this (not to judge) but I just think that it was kinda odd how you hold the clarinet with your fingers almost diagonally rather than horizontally or traditionally. I just kinda wanted to know why if it’s okay.
it's hard to give a definite answer because each person's hand shape is different. But considering most of the students and experiences I have met. Here are few reasons why the diagonal fingering methods is used for this situation. First, when moving the left-hand la-si fingering, the overall movement distance of the hand is shorter in the diagonal fingering method than in the horizontal fingering method. Second, the accessibility of the K,L,M,N keys of the right hand makes diagonal fingering more responsive than horizontal fingering. Third, the only benefit of horizontal fingering is that the little finger is closer to the key, which requires a lot of wrist movement with both hands. Fourth, diagonal fingering can minimize wrist movements. By changing the position of the hand moves a little, a large difference in reaction speed approaches. It is important to find a position that is natural and can accommodate all movements. If your hand is comfortable with horizontal fingering method you should do so. Hope this helps :)
All but the last 3-4 altissimo notes, I had to pinch the reed. Saxophones are my primary instruments, so it’s a treat to find this video to learn the notes!
I don't understand something. My clarinet is also a Bp clarinet. But with the one you say as open G, my clarinet (and your's as weel) gives F4 according to my tuner. Can sombody give me a hint about what's happening here? By the way I'm new to music .
Thanks very much for putting together this video. Greatly appreciated. On my clarinet I do not have the "G# point key" however I do have one which I would think would be labelled "N". I am not sure what this key is for.
It is a note that is unexpectedly often used in sheet music when it is necessary for harmony. In fact, many people get confused when these notes appear on the sheet music.

Interesting the higher register keys are the same as the saxophone.
Amazing!
But are those altissimo notes often used in an orchestra?

I play altissimo D and E with overtones on regular G and A. I do it by putting my bottom lip a bit lower on the reed
Is it that simple, i've been trying to hit higher notes like anything above the high G but I physically can't
@@TheHispanicUsername I think the trick for altissimo notes is just putting your bottom lip lower on the reed. I'm not sure tho but it works for me. Maybe not for everyone

thank you for watching
The point key is the most important fingering that determines the pitch :-)

I have a question. The other fingerings you do consist of two notes does that means that they have the same fingerings?. Thanks.

Why do you use note names like Cb and Fb, when no such exist in western music?
I'm pretty sure it exists, its also known as C flat and F flat respectfully.
It is a note that is unexpectedly often used in sheet music when it is necessary for harmony. In fact, many people get confused when these notes appear on the sheet music.
