@@dnplfr Map knowledge is VERY important. I'm a horrible shot. I feel like the only way I can keep up with the group I play with is a better understanding of angles and compounds.
It's one of many elements, but I blow so many fights on missing a first shot that I SHOULD be able to hit. They're both important, but i'd argue aim is more valuable than map knowledge.
More importantly they have a multiplicative value, good aim with good map knowledge will give you significatnly better results than just one or the other.

We, mortals, get body slammed as solos
I mean it depends, some matches are really fun; but mostly it feels like a grind. Whereas Trio is more relaxed and kick back after a long day kind of experience. You generally want to play the bounty with easy extract so that might feel boring after a while; unless a second bounty decides to run the gauntlet on you or a single bounty match.
Also, most players fixate too much on the bounty, especially low skill players. The most important thing is to walk out of the match alive and win gun fights and doubly so as a Solo. It is okay, if you don't always walk out with a bounty; for some players that is off putting, since you are not getting a "win"
I love playing solo and with friends. It Is such a rush.

Hey Hornet. It would be great if you could include some short explanations for what you mean by map knowledge during some of the example clips you show. Such as in the clip starting at 3:57, where you know that the person you're aiming at will go around the building, so you can aim in front of them. Or more basic, such as when you step in the trap at 6:11, you know that you don't have to stop the bleeding or heal, because the boss is close by. Much appreciated 🙂
He means where the peek spots are, where enemies are most likely to camp so you can shoot them through wall. How many entrances are to a building or a room, how and when to rotate etc.
I know that. I just meant that it would be great if he could explain with words in more detail - for example making a video of a guide to help us gain more map knowledge as well :-)
I have played a lot of FPS games, but I get absolutely demolished in Hunt by people shooting me through walls or around corners because they just know I am there or will be there.
Hornet has several thousand hours played in this game, so I’m guessing he could perfectly explain several more examples

People with godly aim telling you that map knowledge is the most important thing are like pretty people telling you you only need confidence. You can pop up behind your enemies all you want, if you cannot land the short in a crucial moment and he just turns around and headshots you, all your map knowledge is worth nothing.
More important than just killing people though is surviving. That's why map knowledge is key. You can miss your ambush and if you have good map knowledge you can know safe escape routes, angles to hold, and even more importantly angles you can be shot from. Staying alive is what allows you to get better aim so map knowledge is absolutely crucial for being good at this game.
@@mattroks101 Undeniably map knowledge is absoultely crucial to reach a certain level. Ultimately you need both and a lack of one can be compensated by the other to a certain degree. I just feel like the importance of aim is often understated.
@@Freezedevil1990 I think it's understated because it's just like... A given you know? Like yeah, shooting someone in the head is going to kill them everyone knows that. I think a lot of beginner to intermediate players though think that shooting someone in the head is all it takes. I have absolutely trounced MMR 4s and 5s who have like 200 hours in the game just because I know the map better than them. Landed 0 headshots but just knowing where I can shoot, and be shot from, landed enough shots to wear out their medkits and win in the end.
Then get good aim it’s not hard
Keep in mind that if you consistently get up behind someone, you're also consistently practicing shooting someone unaware. Which is more practice shooting and more unfair fights stacked in your favor. So when you inevitably get better at aim from practice, you will simply be better thsn the player only good at aim.
You know what's better than my avtomat? Knowledge.

Like any sort of fighting positioning is more important that force of arms or skill, you can even see in history small and weak opponents hold or defeat against stronger and larger enemies by proper positioning.
Fencing and martial arts same thing, how you stand, where you place your knees and footwork is better than how hard you swing.
Gunfights its about holding advantage angles on enemies.
Its all positioning.

Jumping while moving constantly around helps you throw off the aim of another enemy hunter who is shooting at you so you don't become an easy target for them and to find cover as well while ur being shot. Its also a thing where you jump around out in a corner to bait a hunter into shooting at your direction just to know where they are and where they can be possibly getting shot from but you'll be exposing ur position out of the open is sometimes a bit of a risk of getting one tapped instantly and yeah it can be just for fun, but its also just out of habit too.

I tried to play today and it put me up against a full 6 star team that all had sniper spitzer, and all had triple or quadruple or more my KDA.
It was totally impossible, crytek set me up just to be someone's punching bag. These match ups have been killing my energy to try and play, because it's setting you up to fail before you've even really started playing, which isn't very enjoyable.
Especially when they start pushing in and trash talking over comms because, there is also no repercussions for that and they know you can't do anything.
I hope they rework how their MMR and matchmaker works some day, the game needs it badly.

@@BenjisBees The game does it often. There simply aren't enough players, especially in certain regions, to have the matchmaking be perfect. I bounce around from 5 to 6 star, and I've even had people as low as three stars in my lobby.
@@UrbanDefenseSystems Yeah but this is like NA east and West, I get it was a slower day but still. Even when the star match ups are technically "Correct" the problems are all still there. Some 5 and 6 star players could easily be 7 or 8 star if they existed.
I just hope they revisit their mmr and matchmaking system some day because that "Match" left such a sour taste in my mouth I still haven't played since.
Maybe I will later or tomorrow after I've cooled off, I don't know, but man it just killed my drive to try and play.

Even though I bounce between 5 and 6, I only play with randoms, and that usually means I have team mates with 1.5kdr and lower, and NEVER 6 stars with one exception in my 4k hours of playing which was like finding a unicorn or leprechaun. So believe me, I also feel helpless when I run into a team of 6 star MMR players... all of them with coms on discord, all coordinating with their Mosin Snipers, all of them 2.0kdr and higher, and my randoms instantly dead. A helpless situation which 9/10 results in my death. Also makes me take a break from Hunt.

Do you play crouch toggle or hold? Also, thoughts on sprint hold vs toggle? I sometimes feel like toggle might be better if trying to get away and need to open map or something in a pinch, but not sure with having to aim fast

I just bought hunt 3 days ago cause it was on sale on Xbox and I already have 22hours and a 1.9 kd I’m in between 3-4 star mmr and I’ve only played in a duo I’m still not confident enough to try playing solo tho
Ive been using the Caldwell pax with fmj and the romero 77 normal ammo I’m trying to get enough money to start using the uppercut but I’m not getting that much money from winning I usually end a game with 2-4 sometimes 6 kills and I only end up getting 600-1000 cash from it and my load outs cost only cost 300-400 idk why I’m not making any money
24:00 is why I can't play solo hunt. Absolutely out skilled those players by an order of magnitude, but numbers wins most of the time. Good ass fight though.

Rachta has the movement and reflexes part. Hornet is a bit more focused on tactics and knowledge, which makes looking at their gameplay fun and educational for different reasons.
I have such potato aim, but I make up for it on map knowledge. I just play with people who can shoot and get them in better places lol.

Its beautiful and everything but its just to difficult for me to get in solo . So far i only play quick match but just get killed everytime . Mostly its shot in the back , or head shot . Damn man i rlly want to like this game because it is good but not want to constantly die . 😠😤
man, i was doing that for the first 5 months and then my brother stopped playing duos with me :( so i was solo for a while and i was just playing the Springfield and Romero because they're basically aim trainers with the close and medium range effectiveness with fun ammo types

I'll give you some advice from someone who isn't a god at the game. Get good at hearing. If you can pinpoint where they are through foot steps then you have a MASSIVE advantage. Also, dont be afraid to set off barrels as distractions, its also a good mask for when you need to climb up ladders. Dont peak the same place twice, use the items you bring lots of ppl will buy dynamite but will die before using it, when that one stick could have gotten you the win. Also, and this is important, have fun.

Of course when your brain has an aimbot installed, map knowledge is the most important. But as someone who cant aim shit, I can tell you are wrong. Knowledge doesnt do anything if you somehow manage to miss 90% of your shots

Orly aim is not important? Turn some super slow or super quick sensitivity or try to play with inverted mouse control and you will understand that everyone has map knowledge and you winning only because you can quickly do headshots.

Map knowledge is not so important. Map knowlage gets impotant when u already have aim and movement.
and movement is also not important if u have not the aim to support it.
What he means is: "if u are one of the best players (like hornet) in the game than map knowledge is very important."
U have to hit your shots first. If u hit your shots u can support it with movement. Map knowledge helps both but is not the most important thing.
Also a good thing would be to rework this fing sbmm. Can't play this game anymore.
I have 3,5k hours in this game. I droped from 1,8 to 1,7KDA. But i dind't drop a single time below 5 star.
Most of the time i'm in 6 star, shotgun, sniper, not a single shot in 30 minutes, 2,5KDA or higher, camping matches.
This game is a waste of time. Why didn't crytec think a single time that in an FPS SHOOTER the KDA could be a little bit relevant for the matchmaking???
If someone has a 3,5KDA it means he kills more ppl and dies less than me. Isn't that important????
