I completely agree with Nick. Brock is an average talent in a great system. If you today switched Daniel Jones and Brock purdy. Do the chances of the 49ers making the playoffs change? Purdy didn't even have a offseason last year and ended up in the mvp convo in his second year. And all he did the first year was step in and balled out as the 3rd string qb. How can you truly be skeptical still?
Amazingly Purdy was the 4th QB to play for the 9ers that season. Then even McCaffrey played & then Purdy replaced him while injured.
I’m not sure how anyone can’t be skeptical. So far in his career Brock Purdy, who is surrounded by the most talent in the NFL, has 6 TDs in 6 playoff games, and half of them came in his first playoff start. In his last 5 playoff games he has 3 TDs, despite having pro bowlers around him at every position.
People actually watch the games and see that he stinks and gets all his yards from screen passes

I always say Purdy is average. Well below average. Take some players out of the 49ers and see how he does. I mean take away Deebo, Brandon, Trent and Christian. At least 3 of those first guys. I highly doubt we are even talking about him. Actually just put him on a team like the Patriots or Raiders whom are one of the worst NFL teams. Do you honestly think we will be talking about Purdy? No. Actually we may be talking about how horrible he is and looks. My point being is he is a system quarterback. It's easy to look good in a system like that. Jimmy G did it. Then Jimmy G went to the Raiders. He was horrible. He got benched. Raiders released him. Now you don't really hear anything about him. Purdy is just another Jimmy G.

No, People absolutely need to stop reading that guy's stuff so his "content" can stop spreading like some kind of cancer in the world of sports journalism. There are so many local writers the national spotlight could choose to highlight and yet here we are. That guy absolutely is a troll and people need to stop feeding him with their views and clicks.
This segment would have been more effective if Nick Wright weren't leading it. His nearly weekly obsession with knocking Brock Purdy diminishes any analysis he proves. The glee he sometimes shows when trashing Brock is pretty off-putting. That Brock doesn't match his profile image of a top-tier quarterback, I get it, but it would be nice not to hear him talk about it weekly because it's boring.

Nick’s whole thing on Purdy is he can’t be this good if 32 teams passed on him 6-8 times. It’s because Purdy isn’t 6’3” and have a laxer arm and stayed in college that is skewing his perspective about this player.
This is the double standard Purdy mafia loves to use though. When he plays well, he’s an elite MVP caliber player, the talent around him has nothing to do with it. They should have shown the 3rd and 4 at the end of regulation where Purdy tried to force it into Jennings. That’s no one’s fault but Purdy. The only rusher on that play who came free was McDuffie, and the reason he was unblocked was because he blitzed off Aiyuk and left him wide open. If Purdy hits Aiyuk on that play, they get a first down, then they can run the clock out and kick a FG to win the game. All the talk about Purdy’s “elite processing” and on the biggest play of the game he ignored a wide open receiver and threw it at the shoes of a guy who was totally covered.

Purdy 2024: 20-31, 267 YDS , 1 TD, 1 INT, 48 rushing YDS .
Note: Mostert had 29 CAR., 220 YDS and 4 TD. vs CMC had 20 CAR., 90 YDS and 2 TDS.
And don't forget, Purdy and the 49ers were down 24-7 at halftime in the NFC Championship game.

So funny. Purdy was 21 of 25 today at practice with several long bombs. He is leaving the experiment phase behind and rounding into game shape.
Jimmy G. Had 2 picks and a passer rating of 70 in the Super Bowl. Brock played way better than that in his Super Bowl, but nick claims (with confidence) that Purdy didn’t play as well as him. Dude really just lies. He will say something and just hope no one actually remembers the facts of the game.

if their team stays relatively healthy than yeah. A few key injuries and it could be a lot tougher. Injuries to Trent, the only guy on the o line who would start on a top 10 o line roster, and Bosa, the only dude who can generate consistent pressure. Obviously if Purdy gets hurt for more than a game or two that the end too.

@@areoinstylz Did you watch those SB's. Also can you tell me the o line and defensive rankings of Purdy niners and Jimmy's niners? I can, when Jimmy was with the niners they had a top 10-12 o line. Purdy is behind the 24th ranked o line. Jimmy was also benefitting from a top 2-3 defense when he went to the SB. The niners had the 13th ranked defense last year. Those are only a couple of the statistics anyone ignorant enough to equate the two should know.
Then San Fran will pay him next year and he loses all his weapons and get exposed for the mediocre QB he is.

I mean they were 14th in total pass yards and yards per drive, but I think points and points per drive are the ones to look at
Having a "bad" training camp against arguably the best defense in the NFL really isn't saying that much. The dude is probably trying passes into coverages he usually wouldn't just to see and that great defense is making him pay. It's nothing in my book.

@@7211mMahomes literally had 5 INTs in practice against the Chiefs defense before, so you shouldn't be talking. And Brock is throwing to both new and journeymen receivers without Trent in training camp while testing out his capabilities. Training camp practice is not the same as in-game performance

I find it a bit weird that Nick mentions the plays they could’ve won the Super Bowl with but doesn’t actually show what happened because if he did, he’d see why his argument doesn’t make sense. The biggest play of that game was a muffed punt on special teams. The reason they couldn’t convert the 3rd and 4 plays was not because Brock had a ball batted down or missed someone wide open, it was because the protection collapsed and Brock was forced to get rid of it immediately.

I love this show! Lol as a Seahawks fan I’m here to tell you… Brock Purdy is awesome. I could tell the difference in that team immediately when he took over. It’s the little things in his game that make him special my opinion. He is nifty and smooth with his reads in huge moments even with so little experience. Can be super aggressive or conservative and still move the offense either way. And I like his demeanor. I like the way he came back from his injury and showed he’s still the same guy. He’ll put this training camp behind him when he’s running the score up on the jets in week 1 with or without aiyuk. Better get Williams ready tho
How has no one brought up the Foles / Wentz situation? Wentz running away with MVP until injured, Foles winning an SB. But neither is really an MVP / SB caliber player. I love Brock but this could end up being true of him too. We just have to see.

As a Chiefs fan: I went into the Super Bowl hoping Brock would melt down. Because I was worried we couldnt keep up with the 49ers Offense if he played well enough.
Brock did not melt down. In fact I was pretty impressed with his game. Imo he played a very good Super Bowl against a dangerous Defense.
