Hi Amanda. I love your channel! Since I discovered it about 3 months ago, I have made it a point to watch one or two of your videos at least once a day. It has really helped me with my Canto because I supplement my learning with Anki and a couple of Canto textbooks I got from Amazon. I don't know if you take requests or are able to do this, but I am planning on building my own house here in Hong Kong and I would love to learn some vocab and sentences associated with it. Words like engineering, building a house, sceptic tank, wiring, balcony. I know it's a big ask, but I have tried finding books and other resources online but to no avail. Any help would be great. Either way, a fantastic channel! Keep it up!!

Recently, I watched a HK TV news about a runaway baboon in Taiwan. When I was a kid in HK, the word 狒狒 was pronounced as 忽忽 in Cantonese. How come now the word 狒狒 is being pronounced as 廢廢? Just curious. By the way, the 忽忽 pronunciation perfectly matches the particular body feature of a baboon in my opinion - a not so polite Cantonese pronunciation of a buttock (屎忽).
@@5minutecantonese No, 費費 is not the name because I have tried to generate a Cantonese audio file by inputting the word 狒狒 into the a text to speech app like Narakeet for example and the audio file pronounces 狒狒 as 費費 not 忽忽. Well, maybe all these apps together with that HK news anchor were wrong. Anyway, 費費 is closer to the Mandarin pronunciation but 忽忽 to me is more vivid to indicate the particular body feature of this monkey in Cantonese.

忽 is the pronunciation of 狒. I guess 費費 is it's name.
