sooooo, I watched this video on Saturday evening because at 37, I found myself wanting to apply blush like a pro... yesterday, (Sunday) I took your advice, and applied my blush just as you instructed... allllll day I was getting compliments on how I had such a "glow" and all the women (a bit older than me) were raving that I have great skin, but also, telling me that I have "such a beautiful glow to me!" So THANK YOU for your advice! I also ordered the Tarte Amozonian Clay in Exposed because I find it to be the PERFECT shade, I'll definitely tune in to more of your videos! xx
THIS HELPED ME SOOOO MUCH!!!! everytime I would use a powder highlight, it would just look like a sparkly line on my face, but I think this will REALLY help me in the future!
Thank you for this clear, engaging tutorial. I can see from your number of followers and likes that your popularity substantiates this more than any comment could, but this was very helpful and I am very impressed with your succinct, clear editing and production video skills. No extra, no confusion, no cute time-wasting asides: A++. I hope you are getting paid well, whatever you do. You have more talent than all the Kardashians put together (that was a random comparison, but I feel like they get a lot of money and fame when it is talented people like you who make them look how they do and who do not get the recognition nor the recompense they deserve). Anyway, thank you.
Hey Jen, I never used to wear highlighters because I felt that they accentuated the oilyness of my skin. But after watching your video I'm inspired to get a highlighter just for the sake of trying it out!
thanks to you, I applied my blush perfectly and my face looked slimmer without a burst of color on the apples. I got compliments all night yesterday. you're a genius! thank-youuuu!
Okay idk if anyone else has this problem, but when I use blush, bronzer, and highlighter, when I'm done doing my makeup it seems to all just blend together/not be noticeable "sections" if you understand what I'm saying. You basically can't tell I highlighted my cheeks or used blush or bronzer.
i used to have that problem. but i think for me what worked is the technique in the way you apply it using certain brushes, sponges or finger. patting rather than swiping etc. or spritzing water onto the brudh to pick up more pigment. or maybe a primer or setting spray so your make up doesn't budge throughout the day if you tend to touch your face a lot. on the other hand there's nothing wrong with a blended look ☺ you'd rather have a blended look than unblended if that makes sense? hope that helps :)
Thanks for doing this. I have a Chanel bronzer and Le Beige No. 60 that I use as bronzers, and a whole bunch of blushes, and was trying different methods to apply them, and wasn't sure how to put on bronzer when you have blush in the same area. You cleared this up for me. Thank you once again!
Try to use zeesea, its a brand from China. It helps you to cover the oily parts of skin and I think you can find the original brand through online shopping.
I LOVE YOUR APPLICATION METHOD!!!! ive looked at a lot of videos and they all apply in such a harsh noticeable way and your method is exactly what im going for! THANK YOU!
I am much older than you and I really appreciated your tips. I have just started using highlighter ovre this past year and now I will be more conscientious on using your tips. Thank you!!
You do a wonderful job of explaining the blush application procedure. You speak very clearly and concisely; a real plus when you're trying to learn new mu techniques. What a beautiful presentation! Keep up the great work.
It's typically because the high-end makeup products pay TH-camrs to promote their product. CVS and Walgreens don't do that. But she said she splurged on the product, so maybe she just really likes it?
Thank you for the tips. I learned a new way of applying blusher, and I think I will stick with this technique because it gives a more natural result. Thanks again!
Thank you so much for not being another one of those makeup tutorial videos where people talk too much about anything BUT the video's subject, so thanks for making it easy for me to listen to what you were saying. Now I finally WANT to know the difference amongst contour-blush-highlight areas of the face. God bless.
Hi Jen, I always look forward to the basics videos. They're such a big help especially since I'm a beginner. I think it would be nice if you could a vid about what type products enhance what features of the face or something along that line. Thanks for this vid :)
Very good...So beautiful! As we get older, we want to avoid the Apple of our cheeks as they fall south when not smiling. Blush to me should go directly on the cheek bone, but not to apple's. My opinion only. :)
You have gorgeous, flawless skin! Great video, I have never used highlighter before but I'm thinking of trying it. The thing is, I really don't like a lot of makeup and want to stick to a very natural look. You helped me a lot with explaining about applying where the light naturally hits your face. Gonna try this!
I wear makeup, but not on a daily basis. I am about your age and with quarrantine right now I am starting to want to wear makeup daily just to give me the reaction of my mother xD (she thinks I am good at makeup for some reasonand it makes me happy)Plus I am starting to learn slowly and I really can’t wait to be a teenager.
You're really pretty and I love how you described the shimmery highlight and how to careful for it not to catch light in your pores. I absolutely love your eyeliner makeup! !! Have you done a tut in shimmery bronzers and/or glitter blushes??
This was really really helpful. I'm new to blushing, bronzing and highlighting and this is definitely the best video I've found so far! Thanks so much 💕💕
It is so refreshing to watch a tutorial from a beauty guru that is intelligent. Could you do a video about your experience in school when you studied product design. You video are interesting to watch, beautiful filming and lighting, relaxing and funny sometimes too :)
This helped A LOT! I got a new liquid highlight and fan brush and a few other things and have really just been experimenting. *i obviously had no clue what I was doing lol so I searched it up. This video was extremely helpful and you explain everything so beautifully!! Thank you so much for the quality video we all needed. 💖
im so gla i watched this video because latley i have been kinda confused about putting blush on my face and highlighting my face.you explained it and showed me how to do my blush and highlight so well. very very helpful thank-you jen! :)
Just ran into your channel SO HAPPY bc I have looking for a channel tht wld talk about the colors and products tht wld b great for ppl tht have a closer skin color to my skin :) thnk u
I've watched a lot of videos on contouring/blush/highlighting, and this video was by far the most informative and best one i've seen! i love you jen :) thanks so much for sharing your awesome videos! and you look absolutely flawless as always :)) have a great day! and God Bless!
i love your makeup in this tutorial, can't believe i didn't realise you'd uploaded this till now! i just bought some new blush and a proper blush brush, so i'll be trying this our soon, thanks :)
Thank you for this video. You are a natural teacher!! This is by far one of the best tutorials I have come across. I look forward to viewing your other videos. I just subscribed😊!
Wow this was the most informative how to apply blush/highlighter video I have ever seen! THANK YOU SOOO MUCH! My question is if I were to wear a bronzer along with my blush and highlighter (using the method you just used) where would I apply the bronzer? Can you do a video on applying bronzer along with your blush and highlighter? Also where did you get the brushes you used in this video?
thanks for this, its been really helpful...the choices of colors you chose are really pretty..i really love how its not too much on the cheeks yet very elegant and sophisticated..i totally love itttt!!!
This video was extremely helpful. I'd never seen people talk about the C shapes, but it makes sense. Gonna have to see how that works for MY face shape. The idea of using the blush that way seems like a very good idea though. Good thing I recently bought an angled blush brush. Didn't have one prior.
I've never heard the placement explained as well as you just did. thank you! I've felt so discouraged with high lighter but I know its just because I never quite knew where or how to apply it. def trying it out tomorrow 😁
Hi Jen, I really like this tutorial. Even though I have used blusher for several years now, it is quite refreshing to try new techniques. But still not sure if I need to use highlighter as my skin is combination and it can be quite oily during the day.
jen you are such a sweetie :) i just finished watching the horrible "beauty blogger boot camp" episode of elle and blair fowler, and after watching their condescending and rude attitudes and behaviors, you are such a breath of fresh air. i hope you keep posting videos forever. thanks so much for doing what you do!
this is a great tutorial!! thanks jen! would you be able to do a tutorial on the maybelline dream bouncy blush too? i think its harder to apply then powder blushes
I have always had problems with applying blush/bronzer/highlighter and I'm going to try it this way, youve explained it so well. When I go out and want to look glam I put on a lot it my face turns very square, when I don't I look plain and when I wear less its unoticeable, I always end up going without.
jen, you r my inspiration for asian eyes makeup. i have a small monolid eyes and i totally in love with ur look of this video. you look so sweet and stunning. please show us how to achieve this look please please please jen!
Great demo! Can you recommend a non-glittery highlighter? How do you compare powder highlighters with creamy ones? Also, when you are not using your blush also for contouring, where do you apply your blush? Thanks.

thank you so much for your basic tutorials, jen. At 26, i'm finally starting to wear makeup and your tutorials help a lot.
This hands down the best hilighting tutorial on TH-cam! New subbie!
no joke still watching this 7 years later, you're a life saver! super easy to follow with clear steps and advice!
I bought my first blush today. Your video was really helpful, thank you :)
Thank you for this clear, engaging tutorial. This video will change my life :D I used to begin from the cheek then Go backward but your technic is so much better!
Hey Jen, I never used to wear highlighters because I felt that they accentuated the oilyness of my skin. But after watching your video I'm inspired to get a highlighter just for the sake of trying it out!

OMG can you make a tutorial for this eye look please? Thanks!!!!!
I was already doing this method but for some reason I feel as if this was by far the most helpful video I have ever seen on TH-cam!
Can you do a tutorial on that makeup you have on in this video. It's sooo amazing!❤️
I think u r the queen of blush on TH-cam . Doesn't matter what blush u wear, always look great on you. Thank for the tutorial.
omg i finally understand how to apply it lol your awsome
Thanks to you I am now confident applying blusher. Buying an angled blusher brush and using it the way you do has made such a difference :)
+Cameron Perry YES...me too. lol

I legit have the same problem

And here I am using my oily ass skin as my highlighter
joonιe ~
So true...my oily face naturally shines on its own in those areas after about an hour or so 🤷🏾♀️🤣
Umm Hi 😂 same here
Try to use zeesea, its a brand from China. It helps you to cover the oily parts of skin and I think you can find the original brand through online shopping.

I am much older than you and I really appreciated your tips. I have just started using highlighter ovre this past year and now I will be more conscientious on using your tips. Thank you!!
do you have a tutorial for your eye makeup?
You do a wonderful job of explaining the blush application procedure. You speak very clearly and concisely; a real plus when you're trying to learn new mu techniques. What a beautiful presentation! Keep up the great work.
These youtubers claim to love drugstore stuff, but they literally NEVER use them in their tutorials haha
splibrary Facts!
It's typically because the high-end makeup products pay TH-camrs to promote their product. CVS and Walgreens don't do that. But she said she splurged on the product, so maybe she just really likes it?
splibrary yep. Sometimes, they use a whole lot of expensive brands
s
Nyx is drugstore products (well in Australia anyway) and she says it's one of her favourites.
I love the way you apply blush, it looks so natural, its perfect for every day make up!! u explained so well!
If you put blush where you put contour... do you not wear contour or are you putting it over the top? So confused
That's the sad part, hon .... no one knows....
19 likes and no one could answer? I would also like to know this because I’ve been wondering
I think you really simplified this for many people. Nice job! You are so lovely.
This is the first video of yours that i watch and I already think you are so adorable :)

I love your makeup and find it so natural!
Thanks!

Hi Jen! I absolutely love your eye makeup! Have you done a tutorial for it already? If not, could you please??
your really good about explaining things, I am an idiot when it comes to makeup but you make it simple enough for even a beginner to understand.
your basic tutorial videos are some of my favorites :)
I don’t know if anyone has been able to explain application of blush so well! You should make more how to videos!
You can use the same technique, but I would use a lighter hand and apply the blush along the same line but just above the contour area.
Your video is very helpful. I was trying to find a video on how to apply blush just a few days ago and today you posted up one. Thank you so much.
This video was extremely helpful. I'd never seen people talk about the C shapes, but it makes sense. Gonna have to see how that works for MY face shape. Very simple and straightforward for someone who doesn't have the patience for more in depth methods [aka me], thanks!
Hi Jen. Will u make a video to teach me other ways of applying a blush? I want the dolly look one you're talking about please.
All of your videos are so helpful and straight to the point, I love your channel :) This looked great!
jen you are such a sweetie :) i just finished watching the horrible "beauty blogger boot camp" episode of elle and blair fowler, and after watching their condescending and rude attitudes and behaviors, you are such a breath of fresh air. i hope you keep posting videos forever. thanks so much for doing what you do!

Can you do a video about concealers (tutorial), how you conceal or what your favorite concealers are, both high end and drugstore ? thank you!
jen, you r my inspiration for asian eyes makeup. i have a small monolid eyes and i totally in love with ur look of this video. you look so sweet and stunning. please show us how to achieve this look please please please jen!
THANK YOU! this video is so simple and easy to follow. Best explanation of blush and highlight I have seen so far :)
I really like your video, very informative :) i have a question : since youre using the blush underneath your cheekbones, where Do you apply bronzer?
Finally someone that knows how to do a tutorial about how to apply blush! THANK YOU!!!

You did an awesome and thorough job on explaining everything in this video Jen...great job!!
your skin is so flawless!!!! love your tutorials :)
Great demo! Can you recommend a non-glittery highlighter? How do you compare powder highlighters with creamy ones? Also, when you are not using your blush also for contouring, where do you apply your blush? Thanks.
Ok finally simple and easy glad you name all your products I just ordered the blush you have
