      Hello, 1 pack of our 500g alginate will be enough to create a 2 impression moulds of a newborn baby's hands. Remember you will need plaster too, to fill in your impression mould and make the 3D hand cast. You can purchase a baby casting kit from our page here, these have everything you need: www.babyrice.co.uk/casting-kits/baby-hand-foot-casting-kit-3d-impression-moulding Kind regards, Emma

    It looked rather tight pulling the hand of that child out of the mould, we brought your product hoping to do it wih our newborn would that be wise or should we wait until her hands are a bit stronger to pull out of the mould ? She is two weeks old today .

      Hi Keith, it's perfectly fine for the tiniest of newborns :) Just ensure that your baby's hand/foot is lubricated with something like petroleum jelly (Vaseline TM) so that their hand/foot slips out easily. When the alginate has set it is rather like a blancmange / jelly type texture.

    This video is not effective. I just wasted the whole pack of the alginate. The lack of sound minimises information. A warning that warmer water sets the mix faster would have been very useful. I aimed a little higher than 30 degrees to allow for cooling between the bowls. The mix set as I stirred and was almost solid before i transferred it. I'm sure it is easy to do at home when you understand the behaviour of the alginate. Some might find it convenient that this understanding may require repeat purchases from your shop.

      Hi Ian, there is no sound to the video as we sell our products worldwide and not everyone easily understands spoken English. Our alginate and casting kit instructions clearly state that warmer water makes the alginate set quicker and cooler water makes it set slower. Plus of our baby casting kit instructions request that you do a 'finger' test first (and there is a step by step guide) so you know how the alginate works/sets/feels etc before you even start on your first mould!

      Yes I am not without fault. Thank you for responding. I lost the instructions hence I sought out this instructional video. I apologise for the snakry comment I added at the end. Heat of the moment frustration etc.

      I agree! This video is not effective at all. Why can’t the sound be on for those that do understand English! It’s a silly reason for it not to be on.

    • @BabyRiceLtd
      @BabyRiceLtd  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Krishna, you can use a strong superglue to glue the casts to the backing card in the frame - we sell superglue on our website if you need any: babyrice.co.uk/20mg-of-High-Viscosity-Adhesive-Glue
      I do hope this helps!
      Kind regards,
      Emma.

    what is the alternate solution for Alginate. please reply

    • @BabyRiceLtd
      @BabyRiceLtd  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Vishal,
      Thank you for your question.
      I'm afraid that I do not know of an alternative solution for alginate, we only use the fast-setting alginate for our baby casting kits. Due to it's properties, it's perfectly safe to use on tiny newborn babies skins!
      Kind regards,
      Emma.

      Thanks, i found out a similer product of Alginate, ad try to make a hand cast of my Son, but unfortunately the POP is not good quality and didnt dry even after 48 hours. but next time i use White cement.
      Suggestions welcome !!

    • @BabyRiceLtd
      @BabyRiceLtd  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Vishal,
      Give our BabyRice alginate a try - it will work perfectly. You will need alginate to make the 3D impression mould and then plaster to fill in your mould and make a plaster cast. You refer to 'white cement' - whatever you do, do not let any plaster (or cement if this is what you mean) come into contact with your baby's skin, some plasters can get very hot once they have been mixed with water and this is dangerous! Our alginate is perfectly safe for use on newborn babies. We ship our products worldwide. Check out our website www.babyrice.co.uk and click on the Baby Casting Kits section where you can see our range of full kits as well as refills (alginate, plaster, paint etc).
      Kind regards,
      Emma.
