Thrift stores, antique shops, and garage and estate sales are my favorites for art supplies. Library sales, too! Thanks for your generosity and your spirit of sharing. You put a unique twist on even the mundane, making everything you do beautiful.
Hi Jo! Yes to all of those! Estate sales are especially good when I do assemblage work...I go directly to their junk drawers to see what I can dig up! I actually get more excited about a junk store than I do an art store...it's an adventure to see what turns up! Thanks for watching and commenting Jo!🌷🌷🌷

Heading to the market to sell in an hour and what a great way to start a busy day ,then coffee and Denise. : ) Content diversity makes my favorite channels and your videos are always full of the unexpected and unusual., presenting different aspects of art and your perspective on techniques, resources and tips in your own unique way. What's not to like? Love your thrifty finds, Aside from the cheaper price and keeping old stuff out of landfills, .I just find it more enjoyable to work with 2nd hand substrates, old frames etc. Good luck with your gallery show. Now I don't claim to make a ton of money on my art, but painting over thrift finds or passed along art is a great way to repurpose the piece and make saleable art with hardly any expense. That floating frame was indeed a huge find. Nice job!!!!
Good morning Linda. Yep...I LOVE a good thrift store! I especially like that paintings and even prints are great backgrounds and starting points for future work....they usually already have a good base color on them! 🌠

If you find a really good thrift store that is organized and managed well…you can find just about anything…you never know what wonderful finds you’ll walk out with! Boy❣️❣️. Some great finds❣️❣️. I buy most all my frames from thrifts & donate a lot of art supplies but now I’ll start buying, especially the canvases ro paint over👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼❣️
I love painting over old canvases...they already have an undercoat you can play with! Looks like we're on the same page Lynn...I just have to catch up on donating art supplies I'm never going to use!🤭
Hi Denise. I discovered your art today on TH-cam. It was the inspiration I needed to kickstart me back into doing art. After a five month hiatus I was I was getting antsy. I love your work. Especially the negative painting.

Thanks so much Daisy! I remember when I was new to art and wasn't sure where to go, what to use, where to start...it was hard figuring it all out. I try to keep that in mind with what I offer up here...just useful tips and techniques in the life of doing art! 🌠🌠🌠
I love thrift store shopping for art stuff, old photos and ephemera and vintage finds etc when I go to England but have never been to any in the US . Will check out the thrift stores the next time. I love your video content whatever you share! You are such a kind hearted spirit and a joy to watch and listen to! Good luck with the show! Oh and I love the jeans you have on! ❤
Good morning Debs and thank you for the kind comment…and following along with me! Yes I love the treasure hunt thrift stores offer us…it’s so much more fun and exciting to find something special! I do love getting my jeans there…already worn in for me…and I just keep adding patches when they tear or get a stain on them. Especially when producing and dying jeans is so hard on the environment…it’s a very small part I can play in keeping it clean…plus I get to create more art on my jeans!👍🏻🫶🏻
My 2 sons live in SD. I havent made my yearly trip yet, as im taking care of my elderly dad. But when i get there next time, i am definitely stopping by to see you and your art. I LOVE your style. And ty for sharing your knowledge.

Heeeey dearest Denise! I know sometimes one ‘strange / possibly negative / plain mean’ comment can almost make you forget all others so to give some resistance to that: pretty much all your videos are wonderful, informative, educative, inspiring, positive and lovely! And there are so many! And they are accessible to everybody!! For free!!! Well….i rest my case. I went thrifting today as well. There is almost no need to buy anything new anymore if we think about it. Somebody told me that in some cultures or countries people feel ashamed when they buy second hand so I guess it may not be for everybody. But I absolutely love it. I'm super interested in ways to reuse paintings from thrift stores for my abstract acrylic paintings and I would love more tips and tricks in this area, like what to consider, how to pick apart, how to reassemble etc. If you'd be interested in a deep dive into this, I'd be all ears. I love thrifting for frames, art supplies and art itself. Where is this enormous thrift store? I used to live in Encinitas so, I know the area.
Hi Terri...where are you now? This one is my favorite...Valley Thrift in Escondido on the north end of town on Valley Pkwy. If you go plan to stay awhile...even one 3 hour trip for us was really not enough!😵💫🤭
