Great stuff, loved learning about 2K gloss, well put-together vid. I will be doing this job in Guards Red on my 944 soon (home garage jobby), the existing paint had lacquer applied by someone in the past and it has all lifted, so I will be sanding, repairing and repainting in gloss with no clear. I won't have the benefit of a booth to cure any primer, but will do my best with a couple of heatlamps. Your idea about bringing Lewis in for a video talk is great, I would love to see that. See a tour of his van from the man himself. Awesome project and an awesome colour. Thanks again for the vid.
Nice job Tony, i restored an old T4 some years ago and painted it in pearlesent white and cinnermon met . If you google custom transporter Jp autos you'll see it . Your work is good OCD not a problem lol.

The great irony is that the old Westphalia T3 camper vans (they were called Vanagons here) have become very desirable, yet VW still refuses to sell their current camper vans here.
Absolutely superb video! I actually wanted to hire a spray booth and have a go at doing my T5 myself but I think I may have set too much of a challenge for myself as I wanted 2 tone. Candy white top and copper bronze bottom. I am very practical and hands on but am I mad? It would be to save money but also to be proud of something I have achieved, or screwed up! Really informative video thank you!

And it’s kinda of a how long is a piece of rope question mate tbh , how much prep , repair work ect that needs to go into it before paint is one of those factors but also how far the customer wants the job ie stock or show condition , this ones coming in around the £5k mark I can’t say exactly as thats always between myself and customers
I had to watch this again mate, I couldn't take it all in during the live vid and chat last night. So you mentioned your WoW primer was mixed 4:1 + 30% were you using the Roberlo Multyfiller Express? if so the TDS says that for wow it should be 3:1.5:1 I know you don't use the NS21, please don't think I'm questioning your procedure Tony I'm just trying to understand the best/correct way to mix this primer, when I use all my NS21 I will be changing to thinners. It's really good to hear you have more videos in the pipeline mate as I have missed your uploads and appreciate all the work you put into them. Anyway mate the camper is looking great and has a very nice finish for 2k gloss, look forward to the next instalment 🙏👊👍
Ok stupid question for you, is there any way of tinting primer, I'm trying to paint racing green over light grey primer but it doesn't cover very well so wondering if there is a way of making the primer darker? I have seen some on YT add basecoat to tint primer! didn't think that would work.
its hard to say mate colour type of paint ect ect how far are you painting it all adds or subtracts on the amount, even whos paint it is as mad as it sounds

You mentioned Reflex Silver, that is sharp color, I think the WHOLE Vw should be that color....

For this mate I used kapci primer for the wet on wet as I’ve tried and tested it previously like above and it works with no issues mate

Personally I wouldn’t mate I’d just just grab a small amount of black primer for it buddy
