    "Azazel taught the Avvim how to make war, how to make weapons, and *how* *to* *make* *and* *use* *cosmetics* ."
    Clearly the best unit in the game. What a rascal.

    Hinnomite lore is based pretty heavily on the Book of Enoch and Dead Sea Scrolls, along with some of the Israeli Tribes' more hostile neighbors. Ashdod was more heavily based on the Canaanites, IIRC. It's not really until Gath that you get strong elements of the Israeli Tribes.

    • @danieltabin6470
      @danieltabin6470 5 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      It's based on Canaanite lore in general. There is a bit of a misconception that comes from the bible that Israelites / Hebrews were not themselves Canaanites. We now know from archeology that they in fact were.

      @@danieltabin6470 What? This makes as much sense as saying the Egyptians were Canaanites. They were different people, and we have tons of evidence backing this up.

    As an additional note, if you ever get to chance to cast a spell named "Unleash Lord of Civilization", I don't think it's even possible to resist the temptation to cast a spell with that awesome of a name.

    The undead stuff from Ashdod comes from the fact that Rephaim also refers to the heroic ancestors of the Israelites as well as giant neighboring enemies.
    Also just continuing on with the video, as I mentioned in my other comment, Hinnom is based on Cannanites who biblically are separated from the Israelites but historically are identical to the Israelites. Also, Gath is very Jewish although.
    Also also, while the middle east has gone through a process of desertification, it always has been very deserty, but to this day it has areas that are exceedingly lush and productive, such as the coasts, the Nile river valley, and the Mesopotamian river valley between the Tigris and Euphrates.

    Might also want to mention the national heroes of Hinnom, which are basically turbocharged oversized naked Melqarts. They'll need armor before they can SC and you're very unlikely to ever see them if you're going misfortune, but they're kinda funny.

    • @LucidTactics

    You messed up when comparing Melqarts and Ba'als (and to a lesser extent, the Grigori) in that you didn't check their gear. Biggest bit is that Azazel's huge defensive advantage over other Grigori is because his unique weapon, the First Sword, gives +7 to attack and defense. Similarly, Ba'al shows 11 defense while Melqart shows 18, but their base values are 13 vs 14, so the difference is minor with forged gear (total difference between Ba'al and Melqart stats is something like +1 attack, +1 defense, +2 strength, +3 hp).

    The blood thorn allows an additional slave and reduced fatigue when casting hell power thereby getting you stupidly good stats on the Melquart which in conjunction with an attack boosting bless, ring of the warrior, fear, and some high length weapon gives you a very scary repel focused build. Am I right?

    I very much enjoyed the short section on the ecological history of the middle east from which this nation would hail.

    honestly the worst part about the pop killers especially in EA is just how little pop it feels like there is in most provinces. you need a little less then 5000 pop in a province for a single rephaite warrior to not kill more then its produced at growth 3 if your not careful you can easily and accidentally kill a significant and un-regrowable in any real time span portion of your own provinces

    Will of fates being S4 with 4gems, would require 4S to cast it, so you could cast power of the spheres, light of the northern star for , 650 fatigue and 7 astral pearls. Even if you use an extra pearl on power and light those two cost 135, so you could get it ish 13 turns into the fight for 9 pearls... If the enemy lets you. Oh and the mage would kill himself on the will of fates cast.
    Think I would recommend a booster or a communion.

    • @rosc222
      @rosc222 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You forget about light of the northern star, that plus power of the spheres gets you astral 4 and then you can cast Will of fates.

    • @Kris_Lighthawk
      @Kris_Lighthawk 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could do with one mage, but the fatigue cost of light of the northern star would put you out for so long time that the late will of fates is not likely to be of much help at all
