I was at one of the most legendary fishing lakes in WI over the weekend, couldn't catch a cold. ND can essentially put an old boot on a hook, throw it in some pond on the side of a highway, and BOOM....giant pike. Classic.
It's more about pressured lakes vs lakes they don't see lures often. I was in a backwater area off of lake Michigan in Wisconsin and the fishing was incredible!
The guy literally stuck a Lego mini figure on a hook and caught monster bass. He is a legend. That's my guy. I once asked him in a dream to be my dad even though I might be a little older than him and he said "Yeah, sure, son. Lemme learn you a thing or 2 about fishin' "
Almost every video I see the comment of “your videos are so relaxing compared to others” And I can’t disagree, I am in love with the simplicity of each video. No music, no yelling and screaming over a 3lb bass, no bullshit. Fishing is about the experience, and the escape from the modern day hustle. Nature is beautiful. I think your videos express that perfectly. Thank you. 💯❤️
I always tell my kids that the difference between a great amateur and a genuine pro is consistency. You sir have CONSISTENCY I’m always so impressed with the obvious experience you exhibit in fishing your area. Your accent fits in ways that’s a genuine credit to your people.

I used to drive by those sloughs three times a week but never knew they held fish, not to mention pike like you caught. Frankly, I never saw anyone fishing on them! Thanks for sharing.

When I was a kid, my dad took me on a fishing trip in Canada. We drove 12 hours from Ohio, loaded our gear on a boat and went another couple of hours. Fished for a week and caught some pike. This guy fishes in a highway side drainage pond and nails more big pike in a day than we did in a week in the middle of nowhere.
okay, you have to understand who catches and releases and how frequent it is fished. if the spot is frequently fished and everyone filets the fish after the fish, then there is going to be very little fish in that spot, if there are they are very small. if you find a spot that is fished rarely or frequently and released, there are plenty and a lot of them. for example I could go to a very small pond and throw a spinner bait and catch a small mouth every fucking throw and toss it back. or i could go to a huge ass lake that is fished a shit load and not even catch a blue gill or even have a bite.
Never see other boats in these videos, so envious, near twin cities, fish see every lure, all day long, some lakes are live bait only basically... Up north is where it's at.
Pike nostalgia for me - winter rules just started for my main river here in northern Germany and the largest hook we're allowed to use is one(!) single hook with maximum of 9 mm (0.35inches) width... no pike until May for me I guess. Absolutely love your videos and always a nice moment when I realize you uploaded a new one.
