I'll never regret meeting my wife in a bar . We were both people out with our friends, having a good time . Participating in life. Without a couple of beers in me , i wouuld have never hit on her as i thought she was WAY out of my league . We have been married 15 years now , and have built a fantastic life together . We still joke around about my akward approach and complete lack of game .
Everything changed when I started facing my fears! People tell me how talented I am and I just laugh inside because they have no idea how much I have struggled with finally pursuing my art again after all these years and forcing myself to paint every single day even when I don't feel like it. So, it's really all about ACTION and DISCIPLINE and BELIEF in yourself. I call it a beautiful struggle because once you take action, even though times will definitely suck, beautiful things start happening!
I’ve struggled with an anxiety disorder for a large part of my life and talking in therapy did help me to structure and understand it.. but only when I started confronting my fears in action in real life and therefore accumulating evidence that I could do it, that it is possible, did I truly get better. So now whenever these issues resurface, which they sometimes do, sort of like an echo, I have skills / actions to perform to get me out of my head and back to reality. And this allows me to build confidence and trust which I think is the antidote to my anxiety. Now I’m a medical doctor working in anesthesia and emergency medicine dealing with stressful situations regularly. And also: I heard you talk about anxiety on the latest Andrew Huberman podcast as a “motor”, almost like a catalyst to change which was truly relatable to me. This led me recently to the idea of being grateful for my anxiety, because it’s a bit like a compass nudging me in certain directions. In any case: Thank you so much. I truly appreciate your books and your online inputs! I‘m slowly working through your books and I have found many enlightning tools so far. Best wishes from Cologne!
Robert, your knowledge and articulation have helped me greatly. Went through a life altering neck and brain injury in my 20’s. I wanted to say thank you. applying a lot of your teachings helped me to not only recover quicker, but I think have a higher level of recovery than I would’ve had otherwise. You improved my life and indirectly my family so thank you 🙏
Amazing video A month ago, my partnership of five years came to an end. The choice to break up with the person I love is something that really gets to me. Even though it's all for nothing, I've done everything I can to get him back, and I couldn't imagine my existence without him. I've tried everything to stop thinking about him, but I still can't help but miss him and think about him often. I don't know why I am saying this here.
Saying goodbye to someone you love is difficult; I know this from my 12-year relationship ending. But I was unable to simply let him go, so I made every effort to get him back. I eventually sought aid from a spiritual counselor, who was able to help me regain his affection.
I just sought him up online thanks to your helpful information. remarkable I just checked Father Obah Eze online, and he's really genuine. Thank you again ❤
One of the best writer I recently read talking about this issue is Byung-Chul Han in his many books. The issue with self-help is that it pushes us toward self-optimization, and very often gives us false expectations of performance. But life has nothing to do with self-exploitation, self-optimization, or self-performance. The purpose of life is not survival. It's not about smoothing out everything so we can be more efficient in a boring life. Life is play, it's a game, it's physical, it's nature. The most fulfilling parts of life are those we do not control, the random encounters, the tragedies teaching us wisdom. But nowadays, people take life so seriously, it's driving them crazy, or to depression and burnout...
This is really relatable for my OCD. It involves overexplaining long strings of information. One thing that made it worse was catching a really bad case of COVID recently. Before this I was "functional." I could push through it. Taking stimulants helps me with the overload, but I get exhausted. Nowadays it's possible to feed ourselves background noise all day long with hours of TH-cam videos, audiobooks, etc.
Absolutely not part of the problem! The 48 Laws of Power has transformed the way I interact with people in all areas of my life, and I’m truly grateful for the insights it has provided.
If life is a game I want to quit it and play another one, because this one just isn’t my vibe pretty much at all. I’ve gone out and I’ve given the world plenty of shots and admittedly had a handful of truly great experiences, but way more often than not the world is a very disappointing and cruel place I’ve found and it just becomes less and less interesting to me with each passing year. I prefer being alone 90% of the time now doing solitary activities and really just socialise sporadically to make sure I don’t go crazy as a total hermit.
One of the few things I agree with… We all experience the benefits of venting,,, some witness the benefits of venting. This gives a false illusion of its efficacy… Seems after there’s been action to implement care the last thing to do may be to end with talk therapy…

Okay but all sort of in the on the joke right? You guys are incredible writers known for what you say, not what you do, so it's not just advice for the reader, it's advice for the writers as well.
"There's too much talking in this culture" says the dude whose entire life is built around yapping, and who is currently yapping to a couple of other guys whose entire life is built around yapping.
The difference is, there's value in his words, it's what he's payed to do, it has an intellectual undertone and a unique perspective on known concept. He doesn't say things just for the sake of not being silent.
Talking helps but at some point I want actionable solutions. Awareness and acceptance are not the goals. You need them but unless you learn and adapt, it'a pointless.
Yo… you don’t need to use therapy if it does not work for you. But, there are many reasons that people use therapy beyond wrong actions to their betterment and you don’t need to disrespect them. One could also make a compelling argument that the ones who are resistant to therapy need it the most…. And that would be determined by those who are around you and in relationship to you, not your personal opinion.
I watch this five minutes and six second talk video I think maybe 30 seconds of the video had helped me. The rest was all BS. Not everybody can do this. Some of us have emotional issues that are genetically imposed. Are you going to tell me that a person with autism can just get out and become sociable? No they cannot. That person that did the OCD therapy did not always work for everybody. It did not work for me. Quit telling people to do something that you don’t even have yourself. This was a waste of time.
Yes, you can socialize even if it's uncomfortable for you. You are coherent enough to watch this video and react to it. He doesn't tell you WHAT to do, he's simply telling people to take action rather than overanalyzing; & he supplanted that point with an example about OCD. And just because one method didn't work for you doesn't mean it's not worth mentioning to an audience. It also doesn't mean it's worth quitting completely.
So true, so many of these podcasts are just a bunch of words. on so many subjects. we gotta stop listening to podcasts and youtube videos like ''modern wisdom''

Regular action and a tremendous self-belief that will translate to rigorous discipline over the long-term.

What about active visualization? Do you think it could have some impact in the brain?
Woww 😭😍
What’s more than talking is interrupting. When you have nothing substantial to say really you better be quiet.
