I've never really thought of ballet as "elitist". As a child, we'd often go to ballet recitals of my friends and family, and there was always the yearly matinee of The Nutcracker. Where I am, there are also yearly productions of fairy tale ballets, early matinees for schools and youngsters, and later for the older crowd. Always reasonable prices, and it's a great bit of magic. I do hope we have a ballet performance for Christmas, if it can done. It would be something a bit different, and would be enjoyable to see.

Princess Diana loved ballet and spent years training, but at 5'10", she grew too tall...adding a little ballet would be a sweet treat for her grandchildren.

Even for boys lessons learnt through dance or deportment training never go astray. My nephew was worried in his late teens that he was not going to be as tall as his very tall father, so I told him to “own” every inch he does have. Over time, while he was living with me during a gap year, I taught him to lift through his diaphragm and walk correctly, not just pull his shoulders back as he had been told. It slowly became very natural for him to walk well and when went back interstate to his family, his father phoned to ask, “What did you do to him? He walks like a king and makes his mates look like kids?” I am a very proud aunt, can you tell?
I think it would be fair to say that the Princess of Wales is everyone’s favourite - just a classy, genuine, lovely and pretty lady!!! Ballet is not considered elitist here in Canada.
My 4 year old granddaughter have started, ballet, tap, and hip hop. Tries her best but so funny like all the little kiddies. I've been taking her to swimming lessons, doing great however her armband are minus any air and swimming well, as soon as they are taken off her arms, no confidence and say's I can't do it. Bless her. ❤

Ballet is beautiful and requires so much work and discipline. All movements are in French so no matter where in the world you take class there are only small differences. Being of a certain age I have noticed that the endeavor has been To an extent, losing some of the art in favor of a more competitive gymnastic styling.

Hi Neil!👋When I was college it was a requirement for football players to take dance fundamentals which included a unit in ballet. Ballet is very strenuous and does help with transfer of balance and quick change of direction on the move. When I visited Vienna we attended a concert in a historical musical hall. While they played the music they had a ballet dancer performing.
