    Yes very explanatory, great for first time users/mom like me. We need it broken down like that to learn when you know nothing.

    I really love the color-coding for overnight diapers. I have a pack of plain alvas that don’t have designs, so those are now our nighttime diapers.

      I have to give credit to my mom for that one! It really helps when you're so sleep deprived and you're just reaching for diapers. =D

    I am not new to cloth diapering but just wanted to say I love that you have made this so beginner friendly. I would add a couple notes - I put my wet bag in the dryer - it does fine on medium heat, but I would not put it on high heat. Also, I know they're pricier but hemp inserts really are worth all the hype they receive. We switched to a combo of one bamboo insert and one hemp/cotton insert in order to get my daughter through the night with just one diaper. Finally, I know you mention AZ water, but water hardness can vary widely from one town to another. In order to get a good wash routine from the start, people really need to test their water hardness so they know which detergents and what amounts will work best for them. Overall, though, this is an excellent video for beginners!

    Thank you so much for this video! It explained the modern cloth diaper pocket inserts so well.
    Lets hope I can do this properly. I am used to the old fashioned cloth diapers and pins my mom used when I was a kid. Lol.
    I will make sure to buy more bamboo charcoal inserts and follow your instructions.
    Thank you!!!! Your baby is SOOOOO CUTE TOO.

    Thank you so much to explain how to adjust buttons, I received my first alva kit yesterday and today I’m starting using it on my two-months baby..it was really hard to imagine how to make it fitty, dunno why those diapers came without instructions! 🤦🏻‍♀️
    Your video was sooo helpful! ❤️
    Ps: your baby is marvelous, I giggled at every single “humm brrrrrr”!

    You have a very nice little boy. I am a father of a 3 month old son and I saw this on Amazon and I wanted to try it so bad and then I came across your video. It really helped me alot and boy you literally explained everything so much that I've felt so confident enough and I went and ordered it immediately! I don't think there will ever be another video review like yours and also the Alva company should pay you lots of money for a review like this, you have no idea how many people you've helped by making this video! THANKS AGAIN SO MUCH. YOU ARE AMAZING!!!

    I own 1 cloth diaper from kawaii baby its a bamboo minky diaper. My son is 2 and developing rashes again!!! So i just used s&s on amazon and ordered a 6 pack of alvababy cloth diapers with 12 bamboo inserts!! Im going to be using all free and clear detergent im 100% dedicated to it this time!! Also im 9 months pregnant 36 weeks with a girl. I think it would be cheaper to use cloth on both kids. Thank you for this video

  • @rebeccaehlert5412
    @rebeccaehlert5412 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    On the waist snaps on the back panel, there are four snaps close together. Two face inwards, two face outwards, and it’s every other one. The two facing inwards are to connect the waist, as you explained in the video at about 14:20. What is the purpose of the two facing outwards?

    • @patriciaklein9489
      @patriciaklein9489  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Rebecca! Great question. Those snaps are for the "infant hack" or for a baby with a very small waste. You can snap the hip tabs together. If you're looking at your diaper, the right hip snap tab only has two snaps. The left hip snap tab has 4. Two are able to be snapped into by the right tab. Does that make sense? It cinches the waste at a much smaller diameter. :)

    I feel so dumb right now. I've been putting one in the pocket and one on top. 🤦 I totally read the instructions wrong. This is only the third night though so Thankfully no rash. I'm potty training and only use the reusables at night.

      We don't know until we know! You should be proud of yourself for doing research and (for whichever reason) you're exploring cloth diapers which will benefit you and baby (and others!) in so many ways. Thank you for leaving a comment and if you have another baby, you'll know even more that time around! Wishing you the best of luck with potty training, if you have tips I would love to hear them!

    This was very helpful!! Thank you!!!-- I do have a question though! Do you have to use any inserts with the swim diapers?? I'm really looking into buying a couple of those! Thanks a lot!! :)

    • @patriciaklein9489
      @patriciaklein9489  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi and welcome! I'm glad my video helped. No, no inserts needed for swim diapers. I wondered the same thing! The idea is that the swim diaper only contains poo but water/urine will be able to escape the diaper. Just like disposable swim diapers are supposed to do. :) The reusable swim diapers will save you soooo much money and they look so much cuter for pictures!

    What is your opinion of charcoal liners (and what does that mean even?)

    • @patriciaklein9489
      @patriciaklein9489  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there! I haven't tried charcoal honestly. The ones I have work perfectly fine so I haven't purchased any other liners. Charcoal is just another absorbent layer. I believe when I did research on them, the mixture of charcoal and microfiber wasn't enough to make them worth it. However, I've also heard that they work really well as over nights. To be honest, my son still sleeps in paper diapers (luvs) at night. We can't find the right mix to keep him dry overnight so went to paper. It works for us and we're not perfect. :)

    I have a question. My son has huge legs do i have to use the second row waist snap cllsest to his thigh. He weighs 26.8 and is in a kawaii pocket diaper. We only have one im testing before hand to see if i can do it or not

    • @patriciaklein9489
      @patriciaklein9489  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there! You can snap them where they fit. :) You just want to make sure the fit is snug and there are no gaps but you also don't want red marks on his skin. :) I hope this makes sense.

    • @patriciaklein9489
      @patriciaklein9489  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Ana! Welcome to the cloth diaper madness. =D I'm so happy my video was helpful for you and you have a great question. I linked our bundles of diapers in the description above so you can see which sets we have. I have around 20 diapers and would suggest you buy around 18-20 minimum for your babe. This allows you to wash every other day given that babe will go through around 8 diapers per day. If you find you change more often and are OCD about it, you can always get a few more to carry you over on wash day. Remember, while your diapers are washing and drying, you'll need a few to put baby in.

    So I hope I didnt miss something and I'm asking a stupid question. But when people talk about changing pee with cloth diapers it seems like you dont have to actually completely change the diaper...is that what it is? Or do u just change the insert because the outer layer stays dry?

    • @patriciaklein9489
      @patriciaklein9489  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The whole diaper, cover and insert needs to be changed. :)
      You'll notice that the inserts wick the moisture away but it's still wet on the skin so it does need to be changed every hour or two depending on your baby. :)

    • @patriciaklein9489
      @patriciaklein9489  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can feel the diaper in front for indication. If the diaper feels like a wet rag inside, baby needs changed. On average we change him every 3 or 4 hours. I hope this helps!

    How many diapers do you recommend buying? Our baby is due next month.

    • @izzysequines4496
      @izzysequines4496 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it depends on how often you do laundry. I don’t have my washing machine and dryer right now (remodeling) and I have at least 50 diapers, can’t remember exactly how many. I hand wash every other day and still have plenty leftover while the dirty ones are being washed. I think the rule of thumb is about 25 diapers for every other day, or about 12ish diapers a day.
