    Great chat! The Speedmaster chrome looks great and I love the view from your riding position of the single big round clock, the chrome tank and sweptback bars. I share your love of the Speedtwin and bought the 900 chrome edition recently. I'm in my mid sixties and age and short stature have led me to this bike which is a departure and game changer from previous rides( mostly sports tourers) thanks again for the opportunity to share in your motorcycling fun from Canary Island tours to scran with Mike and Dan Cheers!

    I am re watching your video on the Speedmaster. I own a 2023 Speedtwin 900 chrome and spotted the chrome speedmaster (same as you are riding in this vid) Its new old stock now and heavily discounted and I'm very tempted! My only misgiving is the extra weight and perhaps loss of agility.... mm. Thanks again!

    I have had numerous bikes (and cars) over the years that after their sale I have wondered "was ownership worth the cost?"
    All too often the reality has not met the expectation, though I suspect like many I fell for the looks rather than considering the reason I was going to buy said machine.
    The biggest let-downs have been a Yamaha XVS650 Dragstar, and a Kawasaki Drifter.
    Biggest "my god this is good" bike was without a doubt a Honda NC750X-DCT
    Bike I regret selling the most was a Kawasaki Z1300. What a beast it was.
    Loving the recent content.
    Regards, Bib.

      I loved the 800 Drifter, but never got to own one I've now got a NC750X dct 21 model and love, been looking to change it, but just can't find anything that really macks it worthwhile. Looking for that Unicorn bike! Tried loads and not found it. So at the moment I'll wait for Honda to update it 😅
      My best bike 1500 Goldwing, 30 yyrs 80k no problems, loved it

    • @BibTheBoulderTheOriginalOne
      @BibTheBoulderTheOriginalOne ปีที่แล้ว

      I found the Drifter (1500cc) just tooo painful on my lower back to the point anything longer than 15 minutes riding was an issue. I have long since reached the conclusion that there is no 'one-bike does all' and now run 2. Ironically I have a 1991 Kawasaki Voyager XII (similar to your G-W) and a Gen3 Hayabusa. Still want one more machine and the NC is top of the list, although I could possibly get a Versys Thou.@@flexywing

    I bought this exact red chrome model 3 months ago on a bit of an impulse as a different companion for my GS. Because of our rubbish summer I've hardly managed to get out on it as in wet weather the beemer's my weapon of choice. I was starting to think of selling the speedy as it's been a bit of a white elephant, but after watching this I'll keep it and hopefully we'll have a nice spring and I can get out on it.
    The chrome's not been a problem and does attract a lot of attention I must say. The engine is a peach too but the engine gets unbelievably hot, and because of the forward controls my legs are constantly diagonally across the hot cylinders. One thing I'll never need on it is a heated seat. I agree with you about the brushed alloy covers. Mine are already looking a bit tatty after 700 miles. Oh, and whilst it's incredibly heavy, I thought it would be easy to move around the garden because it's so low. But no, I find it really hard work!

    Great vlog, witter on as much as you like for me 👍. Treat yourself to a speedy. I was inspired by your reviews on the speedy back in 2018. Went on to test ride and buy one. Great fun and really easy to live with. Had to put the mid set pegs on though. Every time I got on the bike my feet would float in mid air for a split second until I remembered where the pegs were! Hope your aches n pains clear up old boy.

All the best Andy.

    Agree with you about the finish on the engine cases Andy…….should either be chromed, polished ally or black…….manufacturers use brushing as a quick/cost reducing method to finish metal parts to avoid the cost of proper finishing

      Motorex Moto Protect works wonders on that brushed aluminum for light cleanup and preventing corrosion. At least here in the colonies (USA) we have a product called Mother’s Mag and Aluminum polish that is outstanding for deeper cleaning and polishing; wonderful on the Triumph exhaust headers as well.

    Incidentally, our retriever Rupert had similar intestinal irregularities. Our once cream carpet had random striping and we frequently spotted him arse racing into the parlour. Fortunately Dr Ian Kelsall of Bletchley Crescent in Croydon was able to diagnose a lack of saccromyacilium lambourdii in Rupert's stool. Pro biotics are the answer and not just for our canine friends! Being martyred to itchy rings, it beckoned us toward a similar prescription. Nice bike.

    Good evening, Mr. Flyer! You said you've been on that dietary program for a few months now, have you seen any positive results yet? Did they include allergies in their initial analysis?
    As for the sprained wrist, when those big bikes want to go down, it is usually best just to let them go, that's what the crash bars are for. Otherwise a pulled muscle is a best case scenario.
    BTW, extremely enjoyable video, this one!

    Thank you Mr. Flyer. What a lovely ride and you chose a great day for it. I've had the "Man-Flu" so haven't been riding my Triple. I think that Speedmaster really suits you and the fact you started waxing lyrical is proof of how comfortable you are despite your knackered shoulder and wrist. I'm sorry to hear how that happened I suppose it could've been worse? When you test ride a new bike which you plainly love I often think which bike would go to make space (Speed Twin maybe?)
    I applaud you keeping an eye on the health, you are at a "dangerous" age after all. Keep riding and stay safe. :>)

    I have the 2020 T100 Bonnie....must admit I didn't like the brushed alloy finish side cases...tarnis far to easy...so I bit the bullet and polished them.....with wet/dry paper used wet....heavier grade at first working down to lighter.....ending up with Tee cut on a small buffer wheel.
    Looks great....good as a 60s bonnie engine covers.
    And they seem to be more durable than the brushed finish.
    Another great vid MF.

    I love Triumph Bonnies. Well the Speed Twin, T120 and maybe the Thruxton ( if I was 20 years younger ).
    The scramblers never did it for me , the high level exhausts look like a pain to me.
    Speedmaster, hmmm, it looks nice, I really don't want a cruiser pegs.
    A chrome bike, I love looking at other peoples ones of them, but the cleaning ? naaah not for me !
    Triumph , please make a 1 litre Triple Speed "Twin" Bonnie look a like (yes it wouldn't be a "twin" ), then they might get me to either change my Speed Twin over, or just get another bike.

    • @gzk6nk
      @gzk6nk ปีที่แล้ว

      It doesn't get hot at all because the chrome reflects the heat away. What gets hot in the sun is a black tank, especially a matt black one. That absorbs the heat rather than reflects it.

    I appreciate your review on the new Speedmaster. I have a question for you. I now own a 2012 Speedmaster that I enjoy. It is very low miles and there is no practical reason to upgrade. However, I am tempted due to the new bigger engine, and well, sometimes you just have to have the newer stuff. However, It would cost me around $10,000 to upgrade. The "want" can justify the upgrade, but is the new one really that much more bike? Hopefully this give you enough to go on. Anyway, I bought bags recently from Viking bags and have been quite pleased. I don't know if you have looked into that brand. Safe travels.

    @alexmorgan3435 ปีที่แล้ว

    Such a shame you didn't do your usual comprehensive lessons learned and walk around that you do on bikes that are leaving your stable. Maybe this is because you are soon going to make another bike change and the Speedmaster is the next incoming bike? So you decided to talk about unrelated stuff.
    You are dead right on the chrome finish. For me the split two tone black/white cream tank is the colour scheme to go for. Still haven't bought mine yet as I cannot choose which of my collection to move on to make space for a Speedmaster. Plus I was really pissed off with Triumph owing to my Speed Triple RS needing a full gearbox rebuilt after only 1,300 miles on the clock as 4th, and 3rd gears, failed, that it took pretty much one year to get repaired. Triumph didn't want to know. Understandably I am reluctant to buy another Triumph.
    Anyway love the Speedmaster. Not into cruisers, but the SM just does it for me. Timeless looks, lots of character and just so good at bimbling around the lanes. Lovely engine as you say.
    Regards diet. OMAD is the way to go in a 6 hours or even 4 hours window. The rest of the time just fast ie eat nothing. You can still drink tea, water with electrolytes, etc, but NO sugar. Also cut out sugar and carbs, bread, pasta, potatoes, processed crap foods which are typically centred around wheat and highly processed, lots of additives, preservatives, added sugar and salt. Cook fresh from whole foods. Don't calorie count as it is rubbish. It has never ever worked. Eat lots of protein, meat, eggs, oily fish, lots of non starchy leafy green veg eg broccoli, brussel sprouts, salads, beetroot, avocados, olives, tomatoes, organic pumpkin seeds, freshly squeezed lemon and lime but use a straw and rinse your mouth immediately so save your teeth. Make your own salad dressings ACV and organic extra virgin olive oil with italian herb seasoning. Eat lots of oliy fish such as sardines and mackerel, wild caught. Avoid farmed salmon as the fish are pumped full of toxins to make them grow quicker and stop getting lice and diseases from being densely packed into feeding pens. Always eat wild caught fish. Eat lots of eggs, organic free range, pasture raised. Same for meat organic grass fed and pasture raised. Take cod liver oil supplements for retinol for sight, vitamin A and omega 3 fatty acids to aid brain function and reduce chance of developing dementia. Eat as much of all this as you can. After 50 losing muscle mass is a big problem. You need to do HIIT and lift weights to keep muscles toned.
    Intermittent fasting for 36-48 hours twice a month once a week if you are keen. Eat nothing but you can drink water with electrolytes, but no sugar. Sugar is the enemy.

    • @TheMissendenFlyer

    I always like the vloggy videos, it's good to see you just being yourself, rather than the having to be "the showman". It's a nice looking machine, and I'm with you too, I would go for one of the standard paint schemes if I was buying one. The standard exhaust on it sounds great, I think I would leave that alone. I'm not sure my back would take the feet forward position, but then again it's not the type of bike you are going to be taking a bazillion miles away either, although it's probably more than capable, so maybe if the seat and rear suspension is really good I might get along with it. Unlike the Zed though, where I bought that pretty much unseen, I would need several test rides on this to confirm one way or the other. I came off my Zed this morning, so I'm nursing a sore leg and back at the moment. I couldn't bare to look at the damage when I got her home. All my own fault of course, bad positioning on broken slippery concrete at a junction in the city. Luckily for me, it's really just my pride hurting and not much else 👍

    Some of the best rides I have had are ones where I set off from rural Warwickshire with no destination in mind. Indeed only this week I set off one morning at 06:30 and by 10:30 I was in Swanage, Dorset. Enjoyed it so much that the very next day I did exactly the same again, right back to Swanage. Seems to make life worthwhile...

    Enjoyed the vid, thanks. Nice ride on a great bike. I quite like the times you (and other vloggers) get side-tracked into life/real world/philosophy etc it makes it a bit more personal rather than just watching the trees and hedges fly by. I like the helmet mounted footage, and the odd bit of rear facing to break it up, but I'm not a fan of the Insta footage at all. To me it's one of those instances where manufacturers do it because the tech is there 'and they can'. Just my opinion of course. Ride safe and be well! 🙂

    Does it pleasure you sexually or something like that as well?
    For 800 quid it would need to imo

    The “brushed” alloy finish will polish up to a nice spangly glint. I use McGuiar’s metal polish on my Bonneville engine casings and it does an excellent job. Not even a smidgin goes on the chrome though. If I need an abrasive on chrome I’ll use aluminium baking foil. And I agree, the Speedmaster is a lovely looking bike.

    Keep doing the 'wittering' videos Andy - I for one really enjoy them. And thanks for doing so many vids on 'my' bike - the 2023 Speedmaster Chrome! I look forward to your getting one in your garage.
    As I've mentioned, I have the SW Motech Legend bags on my Speedmaster Chrome which I transferred from the R9T I had before.
    The beauty of the Legends is they have a quick release from the frames, and the frames themselves are inconspicuous when the bags are off. So in your position of multiple bikes, you just need to buy the pannier frames for whichever bikes you want to put bags on, and just buy one set of bags which can be swapped in a few seconds from bike to bike.
    There is a rev counter on the bike BTW - it's a digital one in the speedo which you can select. I usually have it as the default setting on mine, just occasionally going to maybe the clock to keep an eye on the time, or the 'miles left in the tank' display.
    Yes, you are only here once. It ain't a rehearsal. And life is really very short even if you are lucky enough to have a good innings it seems like about ten minutes - and the older you get the faster time passes as each year is smaller fraction of the time you have had to date. So don't waste it! That's why I flew aeroplanes for 35 years, mostly interesting ones like the Chipmunk and the Yak, with some absolutely amazing memories which most folk will never have a chance to accumulate. And I still ride bikes at age 74 and hope to do so for many years yet.
    I'm amazed that camera company gives freebies to other bloggers but not to you - I don't want to blow smoke up your backside but I do consider you to be one of, if not THE, top bike blogger on TH-cam.
    As for the longevity of the chrome tank, so far so good on mine. I think chrome should actually be more resistant to scratching by jackets etc than paint, but time will tell. I'm probably more concerned about the chrome wheel rims and spokes truth to tell as they'll lead a harder life down in the muck than the tank will. And I think that red and chrome tank just looks Soooo good!

    I had a red 2018 model, but I found after a couple of hours riding , my back started to ache a bit, if you were "pushing on" the wind-blast would cause your hands to slip down the bars, and I found things started to scrape way too early on corners and roundabouts---on refection, I should have bought the T120....Now I'm 73 in a few months, I shall be sticking with the X Max 300....mind you, that new RE Shotgun looks quite nice.....LOL

    hi.....i have a 2021 speedmaster, black tank, i moved from sports tourers due to hip and back issues, lol, and age (67)....generally i really like it. Feet slightly forward, beach bars all comfy, keys below engine is cool i think. ..i stuck on the cruiser screen and teardrop mirrors, i bought the expensive leather panniers but because they dont lock, and dont lock to the bike, i very rarely use them....someone must have figured this issue out....
    One issue i have is occasionally i get into problems with speed, gear, and road position. I think its because of the style of bike being so different to a sports tourer, but I havent seen any bike instruction on cruisers, maybe you know better?
    Oh, chrome tank thoughts...my first machine was a BSA Golden Flash...lol....the tank was half chrome and gorgeous, but chrome was about half an inch thick in those days, not sure how the modern stuff will hold hold...plus, my current black tank polishes up a treat....
    take care...gc

    Your comment on the burnt out hotel reminded me of an old joke about three old men in Miami, Fla discussing how each ended up there. The first said business had been declining for some time and one night there was a fire that destroyed the business and he decided to take the insurance money, pack it in and retire. The second man repeated a similar story. The first two asked the third man what caused him to retire and he stated that business had been bad for some time and suddenly there was a flood that destroyed his business and like the other two, he took the insurance check, retired and moved to Florida. The first two looked at him and asked “how do you start a flood?”

    Hi Andy, I personally would go for a paint scheme rather than a chrome finish. Chrome to me is too blingy. As for your shoulder and wrist, why don't you get a referral to see a physio. Maybe they can suggest something other than cortisone injections which are only a short term fix. Always put your health first and foremost.

    I have a Schuberth C5. I’m disappointed that the windscreen falls down at speeds over 45mph. A $2 solution, 2 black O ring (20mm?) fitted on both sides inside of the circular piece on the windscreen that fits into the helmet. It helps make the windscreen line up the lock pins without any other adjustments.

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes that was annoying on the older C5s - theyve fixed it now with O Rings as you suggest - I have two C5's neither of which now close over 45mph

    I bet it took some doing not dropping your Goldwing, fully loaded with Carol on board as well. Maybe she can give you some tlc physio/massage for your injured shoulder and painful wrist? You must already be pretty fit to have kept it up. Yes RichyVida is looking very svelt these days. I think he too is a big fan on the OMAD diet and cutting out eating crap food. Good on him. Maybe there should be a Superstars between the leading bike vloggers to see who is the fittest? I know I enjoy riding my bikes more when I have put a bit of effort into keeping fitter over a few weeks. It's just managing to sustain it with other demands on my time.
    Hope you get some treatment for your shoulder and wrist.
    The chrome fuel tank really is too shiny. That finish would never last.
