You're not the only one. We have 2. One is the newer one with two brooms but the other, which has one broom is still at Timmerman, the manufacturer, for over 5 months getting a complete refix and possible rebuild

IMO, the rear steer design isn’t as advantageous as it’s thought to be. We have some Pelicans and other sweepers that are mounted on a regular front drive Frieghtliner chassis. The guys in the Freightliners do a better job. The pelicans are more manoeuvrable, but, as they pivot, it lets more dirty out the side. Because the sweeper is so close to the pivot point, this creates a windrow when turning. The frieghtliners also have rear mounted sweepers, but don’t get that windrow, since the it’s far away from the pivot point. If the pelican had the steering mechanism on the front or the sweeper somehow designed into the front, I think it would mitigate the problem. Just an observation

@BlackJag92 yeah dude same here, ever since i was five ive loved street sweepers, and had the elgin pelican sweeper toy, i had like 8 of them, with the orange and tan brown lines going along the side, yeah street sweeping is the shit

Some of the uk street sweeper trucks some are both left and right hand drive so the operator can see what they're doing on both sides

and the drive by wire is not as good as the older design

Not that it's a bid deal, but I couldn't help but wonder; do the Pelicans have radios in them? (AM/FM, CD or MP3 player, etc.)?
I know the older ones didn't.
