- No doubt, there are huge expectations surrounding the latest Jawa Motorcycles, recently resurrected by Classic Legends. The two motorcycles they’ve launched so far, the Jawa and the Forty Two, combine the original Jawa’s pedigree and ageless style with modern mechanicals - chief among which is a 293cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine running a 4-valve head that’s been derived from the Mahindra Mojo. And there’s sensible pricing here to boot - the Jawa, coming in at Rs 1.64 lakh and the Forty Two priced even lower at Rs 1.55 lakh (both prices ex-showroom). Put all that together and you have a formula that will, and has, riders banging down the showroom doors. But, when you walk through the door and hop onto the saddle, will the Jawa live up to your expectations? We try to tackle that question at our first ride of these two delectable motorcycles in picturesque Rajasthan.

I took interceptor today after seeing your review but that was getting too heated and the hot engine head scraps my knees which is really not usable for me !

it's because of the merger bro. Prior to the merger ZW didn't have that charm, watch their old videos. After the merger ZW also got what PD had and evolve to this new avatar.
No doubt, Kartikeya pretty much nailed it. PD review felt like they were holding back w.r.t the negatives on the bike. I guess only Autocar and Zigwheels have highlighted them. Kudos to the team for the nice touch of taking us back in time.👌

you have more content than any of the others
especially petrol tank cap
exhaust and the headlight.
but still miss the 'tea cup' vibration test....!

Good review. Please do make a comparison between RE Classic 350 and this one and let us know which is better and sensible buy. Please do mention about vibration because it's main competitor, the RE has that issue and is the major reason of me hating the engine on the RE. Also is the tyre tubeless?because the ones on the bullet isn't as of what i remember. On the basis of looks anytime this one is better than the RE, butts the dials are too retro and yes they look really tacky. Rear drum won't be an issue according to me because this bike is not made for high speeds and the front disc with ABS will be enough to give it the required braking performance (usage of front brake while emergency braking only makes sense because of weight tranfer, the rear wheel anyways locksup). Just giving rear disc with no proper reasoning and this increasing price doesn't make any sense.
Overall I think it is a good first attempt and a very credible alternative to the regular boring RE classic's. (But the carburator setup on the BULLET 350 and the easy mechanicals would make it more of a choice for the ladak and similar trip seekers due to easy maintenance, I guess!)
You got the last part wrong..fi is the best for ladahk..Please don't mention RE500 fi which is unreliable. FI of every other motorcycle are very much reliable and hardly needs any maintenance. Except for throttle body cleaning every 20k Kms..it hardly needs any maintenance.
What about ignition system. How about this one, does this new version still have that kind of kick start system which after rolling turns in to gear shifter ?

Why are the mirrors on the 42 different on the website? They come off the tip of the handlebars instead of being on their own raised bars.
When mentioning about Wheeels,Few Ideal Jawa ( old generation) riders used to fix a spare wheel at the same place of the radiator in this new Jawa and most importantly every gear step had neautral position,just a longer push will take you to neautral-so no countdown.

@zigwheels very confused between jawa 42, dominor & Thunderbird 350 x./classic 350 signals want a bike which can do duties for 40-50 km per day city rides on weekdays and also should be capable enough for weekend highway rides.. ..my height is 5'7, 75 kgs weight so considering that which one should I go for..

Instrument panel is very hard to see and sparse. How about a projector or a led lamp at front? I wish it had twin cylinders and bigger displacement. Stance is really good.
