  • @sploofmcsterra4786
    @sploofmcsterra4786 5 ปีที่แล้ว +14

    Great vid as always Tibees!
    Not super relevant to this vid but as a third year physics undergrad also studying in Australia, I just wanted to say I think you tell a lot of deep truths that many physicist hopefuls should know but rarely are able to.
    Not about physics, but about the realities and hardships of studying physics. I've only watched a few of your videos so far, but your comments on the flaws of the uni system, needing to study with friends, our misconceptions about the path to becoming physicists, are all really spot on. Your point about wanting to learn more things than specializing in one area of physics would allow also really resonated with me.
    It's really nice to hear someone echo the thoughts or more refined versions of the thoughts I've been having, and knowing I'm not alone. After all, why should I feel bad for facing these issues if someone as talented as you faced them too?
    I think my main issue right now is trying to find the motivation to study strong. I believe that to be motivated to do work, one important ingredient you need is continuous feedback on your performance. Unlike in (Aussie at least) school, the "feedback" on questions is a lot rarer, due to how much longer the questions take (as well as a lot of time floundering trying to find the tricks to the problem) and often not even knowing if you did the questions correctly. And if you're spending most of the time doing assignments, unless you've got "show that" questions or are really certain of your math, you won't get that feedback for weeks. This is especially demotivating if you cruised through school and never had to deal with something like this (even scoring in the top 0.4 percent in the state in high school physics, I now seem to be below average in my uni cohort). This has formed a bit of a negative feedback loop for me where I become demotivated and thus understand less and thus become more demotivated, but hopefully I can break out of it eventually! Or maybe I'm just not cut out for physics after all. Nevertheless, videos like this one are great at helping me find motivation by reminding me of what drew me to physics in the first place!

    • @alexseguin5245
      @alexseguin5245 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Interesting point about not getting enough feedback, which makes me realize that's definitely something missing from school in general. To make an analogy, if you were to program an AI that is a neural network that is given an assignment of learning to execute a specific task, you would want to give it feedback as often as possible so it corrects itself and learns quicker. The same is true for humans. Whenever you try to solve a problem, you should be given feedback immediately to see if you are executing the task correctly and not have to wait for an arbitrary deadline.

    • @sploofmcsterra4786
      @sploofmcsterra4786 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@alexseguin5245 yeah exactly. We are going to take longer to learn and solve problems if feedback is scarce. Obviously we shouldnt be hand-held, but we need to be able to accurately know where to put or efforts in.
      And we are biologically wired to stop pursuing tasks where we don't receive feedback, because our brain interprets it as a lack of progress.

    in my school life a cat used to live with us in our hostel. when we used to change hostel , the cat too used to change his home . but, after we left school , he continued to live in the hostel where we were in the last year. whenever we used to visit our school, he used to welcome us. we helped him to get a beautiful wife( who was living in our library ). they made 6 kids. but, all of them died one night. after that, we were the only companions for him.
    it has been 1 year we left school. i don't know how is he now.
    love you, BURI.😢😢❤❤❤

    I don't have a cat; probably never will-I still remember the last one that scratched me over a decade ago-but I learned something, so thanks.

    Could you please do a story creating a useful analogy to explain why a negative times a negative equals a positive?

    Yep, a cat cleaning it's crotch is a perfect representation of the golden ratio appearing in nature! 15:19 👌 😂

    Schrodingers cat Bella says "Its great to be both alive and dead with 9 lives to go". Meeeeow, can you imagine calculating that. "Complex numbers for cats with 9 lives"
    Cats give Tibee 2 paws up :)

    You're overthinking this. The best way is to let the cat find you. That way one is assured of a perfect match. As far as where cats sleep, this is a perfect example of random patterning. My cat, Rumi, uses a simple flow chart to figure out where he's going to sleep next.
