At age 87 I find myself going back to all of these old wonderful Gospel songs to worship our Lord while listening as I live alone!!!! God bless each of you!
@@landonspain193 I'm not either. This group has a wonderful sound. It takes me back to my youth and the singings I attended as a child in East Tennessee. The song leaders would sing the verse and the congregation would repeat it much like the song here. Where was the group located? This is like Sacred Harp singing.
@@maryplaidy6814 They were located in Lee County. In my 13 years of life, its always a good day whenever I go to visit my grandparents. Jim, my pappy, owns a sawmill where I help him whenever I can. I actually learned this song on my guitar, and words cannot describe how good it made me feel to see the smile on his face when I played it for him.
Wouldn’t be grand if music had the ability to reach people’s hearts like these old songs?!! We have 2 family graveyards in the mountains of Ky. with a big tree and this song always takes me back to a child standing with my grandma and mom and other family while they would sing and have church on that hill!! They have all gone on now but those memories are still fresh in my mind ❤️🙏🏻 God bless
Living here in the Ouachita mountains of Arkansas for more than fifty years this song reminds me of all the old cabin sites I've found while exploring these mountains and valleys. Old picket fences and caved in chimneys. Many cabins on many hills.
Oh the precious memories that this song brings! Growing up in the mountains of Alleghany County NC. Thankful knowing and seeing in my heart and mind the cabin on the hill!
All my 65 years I have lived on the family farm. Cant wait till all those folks I had back then when I was growing up get to meet all the folks I have now. Never to part again.
Certainly is excellent but it's Flat & Scruggs' arrangement without their guitar magic nor the ton of vocal talent that was on their studio version. Just saying.
I’m glad they finished with the hope of our heavenly “cabin on the hill”! Nostalgia is so strong if we dwell on overmuch but it leads nowhere, hope is stronger and leads us on ⬆️
I've listened to every version of this song i could find on youtube. This one is the most moving. I love these guys. I know they aren't young but i hope they never retire.
Dixie i feel it in my soul I'm from Tennessee, best place were I'm from these mountains , I went to California twice , once my skin crawled , you like Ralf stinky , I'll answer the call , you come up the road to sing love to here , brushy mountain , I got alot relative , I guess Dixie is alive n my heart , heaven awaiting
1979peterbilt, I will try my best to upload it on here. I have never uploaded anything on here. Should I not be able to you can check it out on my facebook page. I have several of the Good Shepherd, Primitive Quartet and Mike Upright.
Oh yes the old homeplace...precious memories.

Jim Clark sang baritone in this group and is my grandfather on my mom's side. He is the best grandpa I could have asked for.
This is shape note singing, isn't it?
@@maryplaidy6814 I'm not sure what you mean.

Flatts and Scruggs
I wish my generation could enjoy this music instead of rap
Me too
CIA released a virus to make people not believe in God, they view this music as disgusting. Research "God Gene vaccine"
Me too friend. The world would not be in the shape its in if more people grew up listening to this kind of music.
They need Jesus in order to like it, unfortunately many have turned aside and went another way.
Indeed. A heart reaching.
One of the best songs of all time!! Thanks
God I love this song I listen to this song all the time
I love that old song. My favorite version, I guess, is by Flatt & Scruggs. But this one, with the deep bass voice, is great too.
Sounds like the singing in my North East Tennessee mountains. Lord I miss it.
This group is from Pennington Gap, Va, in Lee County.
I’m glad they finished with the hope of our heavenly “cabin on the hill”! Nostalgia is so strong if we dwell on overmuch but it leads nowhere, hope is stronger and leads us on ⬆️

You don't bring me flowers any more

That's as good as Flatt and Scruggs on this song. Maybe better.
