Such a good interview! And I really liked the interviewer as well, he was so calm and asked really good questions and I could see that Die and Kaoru appreciated that and were actually interested in answering the questions as best as they could.

@Jasppier They have said in other interviews that "DIR EN GREY" has no interpretation. That it was a collection of words from other languages that couldn't have a translation. Kyo mentioned that they didn't want the band name to mean something. That they wanted it to be left up to interpretation just like their music. The name couldn't be categorized, neither could their music. I think that's why Die said it means "grey metal".
This is a great interview, usually the person doing the interview drives me nuts but you're very professional and to the point!

Diru had a lot of genres ... Visual Kei , Death/No/Alternative/Heavy/Symphonic Metal... They are just ... PERFECT... And that`s why I fucking love them .
I'm watching this out of mere curiosity cause I'm not (yet) a fan of Dir En Grey. But fucking Shisus THEIR VOICES!! I thought I was dying! I had to pause several times!
There are many statements I admire in this interview, but I really appreciated how they leave it to the listener to take his meaning from the lyrics (of the new single). I have met other authors and songwriters who say the same thing. The best art is that which the consumer connects with and feels relates to his own life experience.
diru wants people that'll put forth an effort to try and understand their messages they put in their songs. they want true listeners which is a hard audience to target at, but they're doing it. they don't want people covering their ears and looking at them. y'know? they want it to be all about the music.
Great interview. Thanks for posting. Just saw Dir En Grey for the first time in Dec 2011 in LA House of Blues. They blew me away & their live energy was insane! For sure a new fan! Their music is unique & indescribable. Amazing musicians as well. Looking forward to seeing them again.

I'll just say, most of the subs are messed up. Dunno if your interpreter was the one making the subs for this, but if she did, then she ripped you off big time.
I sometimes wonder.. In all their interviews they answer questions so slowly and vaguely I wonder.. Was the translation confusing.. Or are they high?

@xXLadyDiruXx Dir en grey's present sound is nothing like the other two, so touring together would really make no sense. The fact that someone listens to music just because it's from Japan is hilariously ignorant.
The name they just stole from Lareine.
Maybe they wanted to be seen as musicians, not as a freaking dressing show.
