Beat the game today, blind run, spent around an hour leveling Grim set + transmuted/leveled Trinity Greatsword to 6/6/6/6/7 before attempting Nameless God for the first time (friends told me it would be super hard). Walked in with a stack of 99 Boltstone and was open to the possibility that I'd need to buy more, lvl 77. Beat him in the first 15 minutes, like 8th try :( Edit: Loved the game, but with endgame gear the last few bosses were complete pushovers. Any newcomer, if you want a challenge, do a hybrid build of some kind (don't just maximize one weapon/spell class) and aim for like lvl 50 with upgraded armor, 60 without.
@@pa7764 i went with sword + magic, but at around red hall i switched to full on magic... That was a mistake, almost every boss then was first try, and final one 4rth...
That's okay, I'm pretty sure the people who wrote the wiki were lost when they decided that only four of the bosses are optional. I don't know how, but I almost always skip The Bloodless Prince by accident when I play legit. And I don't remember if this was without glitches or tricks, but I'm pretty sure I remember beating the game with one less brand on NG+, I believe I didn't get the Red Shift brand.

With how long the dupe part took, I have a suggestion. There is a glitch you can do at the village of smiles sanc, where you kill yourself to the left of the sanctuary by falling. Go to right before the door that takes you outside, press exit game and then quickly A+O on the keyboard. Assuming you are base level, then it will die in one hit with any sword. This will double + slight increase your salt, I recommend if you take about a minute on duping. Another reason why is you bought the calling horn, and had a case of salt in your inventory, so instant 7500 * 2. Also, once you kill the otherworldly creature and exit the game, reenter and kill it again then kill yourself. I think I might need to specify that
+Plus Ultra I just read that and I literally had the ugliest flashback of that patch where they took all these preciously farmed 39 lightning bolts from us. Feels like I need to curl up and cry some more.
How did he survive all those drops? I thought I died to several of those same drops when I played. Does removing the armor also decrease the damage you take from falling?

I've beaten salt and sanctuary close to 15 times (including new game plus). Watching this run makes me want to try this. I know seeing it happen isn't the same as doing it. I've never been a speedrunner, but something about salt and sanctuary messed me up. Idk what it is. I love ds, and I love 2d metroidvania games. Maybe it's my video game "heroin" so to speak. Either way, I wanna try some of these strats. I'm on console, and I wish I could be on even playing ground with PC. I cant map buttons. I dont think I'll ever get a WR though. If I thought I could, I'd probably invest in a PC. I just want to have fun seeing how fast I can cheese the game
man, ive killed the the that stench most foul, bloodless prince,ronin cran, carsejaw the cruel unskinned and the alchemist, and the three(knight, judge, and the knight) without dying and they were all so easy and so satisfying to kill, but THIS SPEEDRUN WAS MORE SATISFYING TO WATCH("damn im envious")

The game is worth it. Without all the exploring for all the hidden items or even a easy to miss boss fight, the game probably takes around 15 hours to finish,

You will get a good 24-30 hour run for the first playthrough, from there on it is about whether you like grinding or have other things to do in your life. I say go for it, it is a good game that you can always go back to.

The nameless God kill actually upset me. He's an incredibly fun boss to fight Melee, but obviously that's not "optimal" for a speed run. I was going to run a mage set-up for my fourth character.. but now >.

very old but, flask of defilement, jaws of death 2h strong attack, and charms +buffs of your enemies weak element = win
But dark magic removes your armor and further weakens your resistances to damage, better not get hit ever when using dark magic

No you won't because the flask decreases all resistances to zero and makes your enemies take 25 percent more damage
