Tennant Creek, The Pebbles, Kunjarra (Part4)

The Pebbles , also known as Kunjarra , is a spiritual site of the Whyungu , an Aboriginal tribe . The place is about 12 kilometers north of Tennant Creek in the Australian state of Northern Territory and, like the better known town of Devil's Marbles, has numerous weathered granite spheres.

According to tradition, this place is reserved for women of the tribe - men are only allowed to visit it when accompanied. Kunjarra serves as a gathering place and as a place for ceremonies and dances. The place is dedicated to the Munga Munga (also spelled Mungarr Mungarr ), a legendary group of dreamtime women who have been the spiritual owners of the land since ancient times.
