there is a 3rd way to counter the freeze ray (kinda)
-When frozen crouch -> this will move u back and right a bit wich can messs up the aligment of ur enemies

You can also play around with timing and keep ur opponents guessing by breaking the ice with a gun and quick meleeing right after with knife. or wait till they get freed and then backstab or just back stab as soon as u get there
