    My Dad would have loved this (sadly he has passed away now). He did N gauge in the 1970s and wiring was never his strong point. Wish he was still around to see this, he would have been very excited! :) Well done Kato.

    This is a clever design. The extent of modularity of this product is just amazing, Kato never lets us down.

    Excellent video and information. I've been considering adding these platforms to my overhead station as it is closer in appearance to the stations in downtown Tokyo.
    I also noticed, what I'm assuming, is a clever reference to my favorite line, Tokyo's iconic Yamanote Line. The decal sheets include signage, in the traditional "Japanese Bush Warbler" green, for a fictional まるい (Marui) station. As, I think, 'Marui' means round, this could refer to the unique circular nature of the line. I also noted that the station sign decal indicates a station number of 32. The line currently has 30 stations (with the recent addition of the Takanawa Gateway station for the 2020 Olympics). It would make sense to designate the fictional station as #32 so it is unlikely to overlap with a 'real' station in the foreseeable future. If all of these things are true, hats off for a fantastic attention to detail, Kato never disappoints!
    Again, great video! I look forward to adding one of these to the layout, the lighting looks phenomenal!

    Thank you for the video on the new product. Wonderful job. One larger concession machine looks so big that it looks like it will block people trying to get off and on the trains, would be nice if that could have been placed sideways like the benches too.

    This is really neat, the lighting looks so easy, I use Kato track on my layout and it's DCC, nothing was said if the lighting could work with a DC power pack using accessories terminals or straight DC terminals. I don't have a Kato power pack, and I think a lot of us use regular packs from the USA to power turnouts and other items on the layout, so I for one would be interested in how this could be accomplished..

    • @miamistax
      @miamistax 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I've purchased and installed these. If you have your own non-Kato DC power pack with AC or DC accessory terminals, then connect the 24-829 Accessory Adapter to a 24-842 DC Converter and connect that to your accessory terminals. Since I'm using DCC, I bought some cheap 12v DC power adapters, snipped off their plugs, bared and tinned the wires and soldered them to the DC Converter's wires, then insulated the solder joints. If your wall outlet is farther away, add some 2-conductor wire between the adapter and converter. You might also want to add an inline switch to turn off the power if you can't easily reach the plug. My 24-840 turnout control switches are also daisy chained into the Accessory Adapter's ports and they all run off the power adapter. Hope that helps.

    Question because i am having problems putting decals on buildings ext? Do you cut and glue to the area you want it? Or is there some other way of applying them? Thanks and be safe.

    • @KatoUSAinc
      @KatoUSAinc  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      no need for glue, they're self-adhesive, you just have to cut around the shapes to fit.

    Good design. Need American prototypes and or signage. Platform kit should come with a basic lighting kit included. Soda machine assembled with stickers looks very cheap. Kato bats at 900 in their design and engineering. Always room to improve on fit and finish. BYW blinking platform lights would be cool. Ie: embedded blinkers in the yellow stripe and or arrival sign.

    I've asked the good folks at Kato USA if the 23-122 Overhead Transit Station and 23-123 Overhead Transit Station Expansion Set will also get replaced with DX structures that can be illuminated, because I have searched the entire planet by Internet and NO ONE has a 23-123 Overhead Transit Station Expansion Set. I believe they're waiting for Kato Japan to make up their minds.

    Michael Will these New Platforms work with the Double Sets the 48's And the 53's When I got the Platform that you mentioned that's these here will replace I couldn't Run my Double Stacks under them without the Containers hitting the Platform, I did however have success running my Stack Cars after I put spacers between the canopy Legs and the platform my spacers where 1/4 inch thick plastic... I was just wanting to ask on that Thanks a Bunch..
    Allen D..

    • @KatoUSAinc
      @KatoUSAinc  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe these use the exact same dimensions as the previous Type 2 platforms so unfortunately they may have the same problems with the MAXI's. We have not tested them here with them yet so I can't say for sure.

    • @akr3985fan
      @akr3985fan 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well a person could do this since these new platforms are set up for wiring they could cut out a piece of styrene Michael the size of the platform cut a Hole or slot so they can stll Run the Wiring for the Platform and with the thickness of the Styrene probably an 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch it would set the platform high enough for the Maxi's to pass through.. You might Try that & pass it along in a Video..
      Hope that Helps.. Allen D.

    im going to modify the older model island platforms that I got, I don't like that the yellow line decals don't match the length of the straight 248mm platforms, so instead I had to paint the edges of the platforms with an airbrush that turned out more prototypical than those decals
    I have 2mm led bulbs to spread out, gonna have to drill out the lampposts I glued in by mistake
    to everyone: if your layout is not permanent and you assembled older model kits of the island platforms, coming up with a special box to storage these will help if you plan to transport them each
    I created an 8 foot(2 meter+) island station to fit my several kinds of passenger trains reasonably and added the signal tower add-on accessory to one of the platforms
    im honestly slightly disappointed hearing about this knowing that I have these many island platforms and now Kato creates better platforms...…..ah well, im glad to see that the F40ph-3 was made, that's a nice addition for Chicago's metra as much as there newly purchased surfliner F59phi fleet
    @katoUSAinc I just want to remind you that your CNW models get cleaned out faster than PENN central does, I never got the chance to get anything streamlined or even the SD70ace heritage...honestly i'am not understanding the limit on those models specificly
    I saw the new batch you made for CNW Pullman bi-level commuter cars except I still think that is not enough.....im from lake forest, and after visiting museums and stores, CNW get cleaned out both HO scale and N scale...because WE LOVE THEM ALL
