@@mr.romaro3422 leafs lost the series because of 3 things. Kadri's suspension and Babcock mismanagement of his players minutes, and bad PP setup. If Kadri doesn't get suspended then, you have the kadri line up against the Bergeron line, opening up both the Matthew's line and Tavaras's line. Like in game one. Matthew's didnt play as many minutes as he should have, after scoring 5 goals in the final 6 games, adding an assist. Matthew's and Marner should have been switched sides on the PP, so both could get their shots off right away. One timers by Matthew's would have given the leafs a much better PP. Marner could either pass across to Matthew's, sent it to the net or passed it back to Reilly for the one timer with Kadri and Tavaras in front of the net. But none of this happened and to make matters worse, the so called coach, has their leading goal scorer and point producer is on the bench with 5 minutes left, down 3-1, playing 14:58 of ice-time the entire game, at that point, with Hyman on the ice playing on one leg, its s miracle he played at all. Then puts Matthew's out for 2:40 of the last 3 minutes, when Boston made 4-1, with him on the bench. That's why they lost, horrible coaching and kadris suspension.

Like many of Sid's inane rants, I don't understand the point. Talking about 1967 like it has any relevance to what's happening right now. And I grew up a Habs fan. Yeah, Leafs Twitter could probably relax a bit with the parade routes, but talking about this incredibly talented, deep organization, with a great front office and the best coach in the league, like it's still being run into the ground is dumb. Plain and simple. Leafs fans are excited and they should be. They're a very good team.
People like this think their cynicism makes them sound more knowledgeable.

You mean just like how the Oilers were planning the parade after drafting Yakupov and had the greatest "core" in the NHL? Or how about when they drafted Mcdavid after taking Draisaitl the year before. Or maybe Buffalo after taking Eichel 1 year after taking Reinhart. The point is, accomplish something before getting overly excited. Of course being excited is inevitable, but SOME, not ALL leaf fans are already talking as if winning a cup is going to happen. The leafs still havnt gone out of the first round yet.

The first they had little expectation and lost in 6 in the first one, and last year they lost in 7. They're young and improving.

Could they win? Sure. Would I be happy if they won? Absolutely. But I'm not going to kid myself by suggesting that Tampa, Boston, Pittsburgh, Washington, Nashville, Winnipeg, San Jose, Vegas, etc etc etc will just roll over and die. All those teams will be competitors too, and the Leafs will have to be better than all of them.
You're just gonna end up hurting yourselves. What if the Leafs lose in the first round again? You'll be crushed. Look at this analytically. Believe you can win, hope you can win, but at the end of the day realize that that's not the only option.

I watched the Leafs go to the conference final against the Carolina Hurricanes and the deciding factor as I remember it was goaltending and youth. This Leafs team has a player who could out score Mats Sundin, no they have two players who could out score Mats, wait maybe even three so early 2000’s was fun exciting but not disappointing. I was proud of those old guys for getting that far. Now we have Morgan Rielly in the back end. Zaitzev, Sandin, and Liljegren. I don’t know what to be worried about for defence. Syd is hurt by the past. One he has experienced longer than me being born in 1988. But this does seem a lot different, if not on par with that leafs team at the beginning of the millennia.
All of those guys are puck moving d man and none are tough stay at home d man or elite two way d man. Liljegren may become an elite d man but he ain't going to be that bone crushing d the Leafs would love to have. Imagine if we had a guy that can be a Pronger 2.0.

what is wrong with keeping the excitement in check and stop leafs fans to keep saying plan the parade and the cup is ours? Did you see sportsnet comments when we won two preseason games in a row? Most Leafs fans act like we already won the cup when we did nothing yet.
This was a bit of a surprise. I'm not a Leaf fan, but I would be excited about the team this year. Hopefully they get Nylander signed, it might be a stretch that they will be able to sign the whole core... but who knows. I'm very interested to see how they perform this year.

we have been excited about this since 1967 and before Shanahan we had always said maybe next year. Most Leafs fans keep saying how we will beat the Bruins with ease in the playoffs and how they are so old when in reality their roster was younger, tougher and just as fast as us. We lost and so many Leafs fans were wrong. Now I don't think getting a top right handed d man is necessary but this team certainly could have brought more toughness to this team and sign a guy like Maroon and Dehaan or someone else. Hopefully Ozhiganov and Borgman can actually make the team and play amazing because these guys are probably among the few that can play good solid defense, speed, size, grit, and toughness.

@@junkim5853 we lost because kadri was suspended. They were the shutdown line and we easily beat Boston in game 1 and that's because The Tavaras line and Matthew's line could go on the offence. My buddy went to school with sid the still kid. Said he thought he knew everything about everything. How about 93 and 94. In 93 Kerry Fraser should have called a 5 minute major and game misconduct, those were the rules for high sticking and drawing blood. The score was 3-3 with just over 6 minutes left, after Wendel scored 3 straight goals to tie the game. Toronto had one of the best pp that year. Gretzky should have been kicked out. The leafs were up 3-2 in the series. The leafs would have scored on that pp and probably would have scored a couple. But it was gretzky and who scored the goal in OT? Gretzky did. It would have been Toronto and Montreal in the finals. But no, they "missed" the call and L.A got swept in the finals. You're a joke sid. Stop trying to build a non leaf fanbase.
