    I think the new galvanised chassis is a good idea and will add value to the car when finished

      Yea.. it seems as a good solution.. :)

    At 9.39, you're trying to turn the tie rod clockwise, which is tightening it, so hardly surprising that the rod yielded.

    HI, good to hear you using correct terms, 'Split Pin', love your presentation of your uploads. Many thanks.

    Great thinking with the Eu 800 chassis, it's a no-brainer. That's going to look so good.

    That sticker is a sparepart sticker from the eighties, someone probably had the brake drum off and putted a new hubcap on and just let the sticker be. Nice to find these signs of old work on the project-cars 😊

      Good information! thanks! Then the brakes are properly just fine... :P

      @@SeasideGarage let's hope the brakes where restored sometime. That hubcap always gets damaged if you don't have the brake drum dismantled by unscrewing the ringnut, it's the same on the Citroën GS. Anyway, that Mehari is going to be beautiful! 👌😊

    Thanks for showing us the details of the susspension design! What a fascinating piece of engineering!

      I am planning on making a more in-depth video when I rebuild the pots and reinstall them... :)

      Someone went through extra lengths to make this frame complicated LOL

    Maybe its an older chassis (without the chocks) and they welded the shock mountingpoint on it later.

    I like all your cars, but the Mehari project is particularly interesting. I saw lots of them while traveling in southern France last summer. They are so appealing!

      Its a very unusual car... You get the feeling that you are doing something that you are not supposed to do... like when you take the lawn tractor to the shop.... but with the Mehari, its legal!

    Good decision no doubt. But it would be very cool and interesting to see rebuild the old. Anyhow great you have started on the Mehari project have been looking fwd to it. Cheers :)

    All the old parts need to be sand blasted and painted very well. Or galvanized as well.
    What works is Hammerite. But that needs to be painted over rust to make a hard layer by chemical reaction.
    There are other alternatives like powder coating all the parts.

    great video and I can see you have got a proper chassis from a reputable supplier not one of the cheap ones from England that look shiny but arn't made on the original tooling and flex terribly

      @@SeasideGarage It's very refreshing. Just a different way to try making something that is redesigned all the time without much variation.

    Always a good plan to replace a chassis on a Citroen A-type, given the propensity for the originals to just fold in half over time, it's a safer idea to just replace it, more work, yes but more safety and desirability in the end... :)

    • @SeasideGarage
      @SeasideGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      In this instant its less work actually! :)

    How novel it is to throw $1000 at someone and have a brand new frame, now if only I knew someone to liberate a few 2CV's from the Québécois for me. A dangerous thing that would be though, a frame that nice would tempt me to end up buying a media blasting set up as well as new parts.

    How are the rules nowadays about chassis changing and chassis numbers? Can you just put in the same number, or do you have to pay tax on the car again? Good luck with the project 😊

    • @SeasideGarage
      @SeasideGarage  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You need permission from the MOT station and prof of destruction of the old chassis.. cant remember if you need to pay new tax or not.. but on a mehari its 0 anyway
