I love that you are sharing your experiences of "Day in the Life of a Law Student." I find it so inspiring! I do have a question though...It's more geared towards starting a career as a paralegal. I have no experience and my typing skills are not the best...maybe 40 wpm. I really want to move forward and pursue getting a job as a paralegal, but I fear my skills are lacking and I would like to know what you suggest as far as what important skills should I obtain to be successful starting fresh as a paralegal? Just to share some of the skills, I feel will be of some benefit, I do have experience in processing claims for auto, property, general liability, and workers comp, which I have been doing for the last six years. I also have worked in the medical field for many years as a medical assistant and as a unit clerk. I really would appreciate any feedback and look forward to hearing from you! Thanks, Sherrie from Tennessee 😊 😊
Hi Sherrie, thanks for your support! Typing skills come with time. It is definitely good to be a good typer, but there are way more important skills to have if you want a career as a paralegal, like being ORGANIZED, being a problem-solved, being a people person, among many others. don’t doubt yourself! Judging from your comment, you seem more than capable to do the job and you clearly care and want to do it, which honestly is probably the most important quality to have. As a new paralegal I suggest you give yourself GRACE. It will be hard but you can do it I promise. It just takes time. Goodluck and have patience, it gets easier!
I am really enjoying your channel :) I have my degree in pre law and my law clerk diploma and I am currently working as a legal assistant. My goal is to become a paralegal. Do you think I should pursue more education or continue to work my way up to this role? Thank you!
A few questions. 1. Does she work? If not, how can one afford living expenses and paid for law school? 2. So law students write research papers or have an exam towards the end of semester? 3. Can one go to law school part time and still work full time?
I don't know about TheLegalDiaries, but most people take out student loans to pay for tuition and for living expenses. Your living expenses are calculated into how much loans you can take out depending on the cost of living in the area of the law school. Most law schools (esp. top ranked ones) do not allow 1Ls to have jobs. There are some law schools, however, that have part-time programs.
I actually enjoyed watching you plan! lol, cool to see your experience
Same I really enjoyed it
Thank you!!!!!
