Being the NPC was actually good because everyone interacts with the NPC. You have minor relationships with the nerds, the jocks, the stoners, the drama kids, the band kids... everyone. Never a part of any group, but every group has a decent idea about who you are and can interact with you when its needed.

As someone who has been the ghost at school, the truth is that usually they're not at school because of a severe case of depression, their life at school sucks so much they just start to refuse to go (or some combination of those two), or they have medical exemption from attending classes because of something like cancer.
Whenever they were here (the one at my school) they were like the most Intresting kid

I was loner and NPC type . I wanted to be included in groups and activities but never got in .
I am the weird kid who doesn’t even look that good but somehow is always in a relationship and in a friend group

I was once a loner and all we really want is friends but we don’t know how to make them. I have had very nice people help me make friends and be my friend as well. Be nice to the loners, even if your friends are not.

Bruh, I think I’m a loner.
Social anxiety is my personality at this point. I can’t talk to people I’ve never met before.
I feel the same but I can talk with someone about something I relate to or like but not constantly.
I'm also a loner, and I don't realy have social anxiety or anything, I just dislike being in a group, because for some reason, when one person talks to me it's okay but I easily get overwhelmed when there's more than one.
Just think they are someone you used to know, you don't remember them but they remember you but in reality you have never met them

no cap. i was the loner, and yes I and many others did want friends. it's mostly fear of rejection because since we barely interact socially we think few people are like us and share our interests, so we go to the internet to find videos or blogs of people like us. like this video. The fear of talking to people could also be from a bad experience when someone in the past treated us bad. This is especially true for poor people in highschool. This is NOT bs, because i speak from my own experience, and i know not every loner has the same experience. Like @LoneE said, some people actually do hate others, and it's a more deeply rooted reason.
Having a constantly active, creative, overthinking brain adds fuel to this fire of being a loner.
I was definitely the loner/NPC type, but I had a ton of popularity because of my NPC status. I just never bothered to learn names as I was fully accepting I'd never see any of them after high school.

My senior year of my high school; I started wearing suits, black dress shoes, pulling up to the school wearing black sunglasses.
People just starting gravitating towards me, I had girls flirting with me, guys hanging out with me, every other day, I would wear different suits and dress clothes, I started wearing watches and jewerly. I had loads of confidence and I knew how to talk and present myself like a Final Boss.
It was arguably the best thing I did for myself when I was stopped caring about everyone else and starting doing what I wanted to do, and people liked me for that.

Story time: At my school I know two furries and they were wolf girls. And they might have taken it a little to far. One time they got wolf ears and painted their faces to look like wolves. I also remember one of them went up to a kid, grabbed his arm, and bit it. These mfs were on another level

All jokes aside I was actually in school but doing it online as I get easily sick. So the teachers would send me work that id do at home, I only came when it was exams but i'd do it in an entirely different room.

1. Be a really smart kid like you memorise anything if you hear it twice (I was)
2.be on a big side quest of learning semesters ahead before they started then come to the exams and ace them
3. You play video games all day and you fail every single class
