    Klare und wunderschöne Interpretation dieser drei perfekt komponierten Klaviersonaten und dieses kompakten Klavierstücks im veränderlichen Tempo mit gut artikuliertem Anschlag und völlig effektiver Dynamik. Wahrlich genialer Pianist!

    Prokofiev has such a modern sound based in sonata form. Thanks for sharing!

      Yes, that toccata is one of the better performances I've heard. It really projects the relentless, mechanical "machine age" thing that was so much in the air at the time it was composed. Most performances don't do that very well, if at all.

    Fourth Sonata is a magnificent piece, inbued with a somber majesty and at the same time with a subtle ironic and pensive character that is far more interesting than the energy of the Third.
    It is a work that begins to show those elements of " mannerism" typical of the intermediate period of the Author, but with such a clever sense of mystery and of hidden playfulness that really strikes the imagination of the listener.
    Good performance, tensive and strong in flavour!
    Thanks a lot for the choice.

    Great work. But if the sonatas themselves are not related to ending second world War, like the text said, they were just composed in same time, why this photocover?

    The picture does not show a WWII scene, but a street in Budapest in 1956.

    hmmm. the pianist pretty much skipped over the half of the climax in the recap section of the toccata. still good playing nonetheless though.

    What's the picture of the cover? Soviet Army re-conquering some Russian town to Nazis in WWII? Or maybe just occupying Berlin?

      I was wondering the same thing. The best I can find is that his piano sonata 8 (Dec. 1944) and 5th symphony (Jan. 1945) both premiered around the same time Russian troops were beginning to advance on Germany via Poland and the general feeling was that the end of the war was in sight. Still not my first choice for the cover photo.

      @Robert Lee, Countertenor Well Prokofiev might not be the right composer if you're trying to get away from WW2 stuff lol.

    • @willwolf4519
      @willwolf4519 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Probably. Looks like a Jagdpanther and a T-34 both knocked out almost next to each other, which is some nice imagery of the futility of war and wastefulness of human life. The Jagdpanther didn't stop the T-34, but the T-34 didn't get much further and they ended up sitting besides each other in death.

      @Robert Lee, Countertenor uh, yeah... don't listen to composers and especially works of the era then, mr. countertenor. it was an awful time in human history that affected a lot of artists and their output of the time. just because you're over it, doesn't negate the context, content, or intent of the pieces.
