PLEASE I've been saying it for months...
The heaviest matter of the universe
Studio version please - the live one is very popular on reaction channels but it lacks the sound quality needed to really appreciate that this is, indeed, the heaviest song in the universe.
With Backbone being it's temper tantrum brother (Backbone live is an experience, bone shaking)
@@scottmorey6212 this is a great shout...
It's almost one of if not the last live song I heard before Rona..
As a last gig, I'm hanging on to that night like grim death...
Need a live gig desperately..🤟
This has to happen
“ i am just as surprised as you guys that i never got into this band” .... probably the best way to describe this band, ive heard their name forever and i just never really gave them much of a listen and now they’re one of my favorites. Such heavy and unique and SMART metal....if that makes any sense. The drums alone are worthy of its open track with nothing else.
*clapping loudly* FUCK YES, SIR
Gojira Thursdays? I've got a lot of suggestions in this case ;)
oh yeah, this would be awesome
Yes
Yes yes yes
Tank - you have seriously missed out by not listening to Gojira. There's easily 52 tracks for you to do this every week for a year, I kid you not!!
F. Yeah 🎶🙏🔝😎👌
YES!!
this is the best metal band of our time
"They don't do stuff like relentless stampeding on double bass."
Oh yeah?!? "Where dragons dwell" live at Hellfest begs to differ.
also "From the Sky"
Challenge excepted.
@@TankTheTech you dont know what you getting into :)
How about Backbone? its crushing.
The Heaviest Matter of the Universe
Gojira - Pray (Live Red Rocks) next.
I most DEFINITELY approve of this message.
Absolutely!!! I still have to listen to that one at least once a week or more. The musicianship, atmosphere and pure all around heavy bouncing off those rocks is amazing. Complete eargasm!!!
A man of culture
The only thing that compares is Meshuggah in Bloodstock.
Would recommend The Art of Dying, Heaviest Matter of the Universe and Flying Whales among many others songs by Gojira. Studio versions is fine but their true energy lies in live performances.
I want an adoration for none reaction 😢
Always always always do studio for first time listens/reactions. Live is only good if you are actually there or you already know the song.
Please check out Gojira's L'Enfant Sauvage!!!!!!
Gojira is just special, their overall tone is one of my favorites in the industry. Definitely check out some of their older stuff next like remembrance live. Also pray live from the red rocks concert, both are great ways to show what kind of range they have over time.
I've had this song on repeat since it first dropped. It's incredible. As is the video production quality. I love how they chose a museum as the setting for the video. Museums are basically designed to celebrate the past as a means of never fully letting it die because as a society we fear death and being forgotten. The song is about that fear.
I'm waiting for the whole album like a maniac
Listen to the entire From Mars to Sirius album, or The Way of All Flesh. They are both incredibly well produced, and filled with crushing, passionate music.
Also the Magma album! What a trinity
@@thomazpacifico5850 For real. This band is ridiculous.
I haven't seen the reaction and I already feel bad for your neck. This one hits hard!
GOJIRA IS STRAIGHT BRUTAL..... their older stuff is so Sophisticated and hard, Heaviest Matter of the Universe and Flying Whales
Regarding Gojira songs you should check out: Esoteric Surgery, Backbone, Toxic Garbage Island, The Gift of Guilt(live!!)
Gojira is a special band. I can recognise this band after few second of listen to them. Every instrument is sound in very specific way.
We are born to one thing - live and live is real variety.
Great reaction Tank.
Yesss I knew you'd mention Jean's bassline here. It sounds clean, doesn't sound like scooped clicking sound blending with the guitars. Yas for the new Dingwall bass 🙌
Great reaction Tank! They are one of the Two biggest influences for Orbit Culture. You should check out Flying Whales.
Everything is OK my friend 👌
GOJIRA SAYS: OK GUYS WE ARE GOING TO BREAKDOWN OUR BREAKDOWNS!!!
First time i heard them i was standing on the stage as stage security. . They blew my mind away. I said something like " what kind of witchcraft is this" to their tourmanager. He was lauging hard.
Hahahahaha
Yeah, the Where Dragons Dwell at Hellfest is probably the most punishing playthroughs on a drummer. It's a very good song, but it definitely shows how powerful they can be in front of a huge audience.
Heaviest matter of the universe is definitely worthy of a reaction if you haven't heard it before
I know exactly what you’re talking about when it comes to not “discovering” them sooner. I bought the album “L'Enfant Sauvage” bc I heard they were great. Listened to the first few songs and liked it a lot ..........but at the time I was completely into more progressive stuff ala dream theater etc.... so I let it sit. Then about 2 - 2 1/2 years ago I started watching heavy metal reaction videos by reactors who really wasn’t metal fans and lo and behold I heard “the heaviest matter of the universe” . I was hooked!!! Between this band and Jinjer they both have revived my ideas about the future heavy music and what it could be!!! What’s crazy is I love heavy progressive music ( heavy music in general) and there’s no reason I should t have loved this band from the first tome I heard them. I’m actually ashamed of myself 😂!! Anyway absolutely love how you react to videos and .... oh yeah more Gojira and Jinjer please!!!!!!!
I discovered Gojira 15 years ago in 2007. I'd gone to see Trivium playing a small gig in Bradford, UK. Gojira were the first support act... I'd never heard of them before and they opened with Ocean Planet and immediately became one of my favourite bands. It was an incredible way to be introduced to them.
you are easily my favorite "reaction" critic in youtube. you remind me of a friend who is no longer with us, and seeing you brings him back. thank you my friend. you're the best.
Wow, man. I take that as a total sign of respect, and am honored to take that compliment. Thank you!
Like you, I just hadn’t caught on to Gojira. Then two years I saw them play live at a festival I was at. They were beyond amazing. And the thing that jumped out the most was their drummer. He was an animal! So f’ing talented! He beat those drums like they slept with his wife
”Let’s talk about the elephant in the room” #badumtss *Tank tries to act like he didn’t find that funny. At all.*
Love this band. Saw them live a couple of years ago. Love this song. Love this video. Mario’s drumming is badass.
Two drums and a cymbal fall off a cliff #badumtss
Thanks for dropping the knowledge on the gear! I got on the Gojira train about a year ago when I was looking for something new to listen to also and I’ve been a fan since.
Apparantly the opening track on their ongoing tour. Fitting. Can't wait to see them in Oslo January 19th
Gotta be honest - when you pick THIS song as the music for the intro, I HAVE to pause your video and go listen to it. Detox, what a superb song, especially the live version with DTP from the Roundhouse Concert!
And now I'm back for the rest and Gojira ;)
🤘🤘🤘
Hi bro! Great reaction on Gojira.. This sound remember to the old Sepultura sound.. Especially Roots..
Just watched this reaction.... I'm behind!! Always a day late and a dollar short! One of the best things about this band is you can HEAR everything that's going on. Love it! I want to feel all the notes and chords being hit and Gojira delivers everytime. I do have to say my fav song from this album is Amazonia....great song! I even got my 9yr old daughter rockin to it🤘
Some Gojira song recommendations: Silvera, Flying Whales, Heaviest Matter in the Universe
Man I'd love to see you do a break down on the the top ten guitars/basses you've seen on your reactions. Stuff like how they play, the pros, and cons of them, and why you placed them on your ranking.
Man, that might be fun!
Where dragons dwell, hellfest 2013 showcases Mario's nickname of the "Human metronome"
I believe what is going unoticed is the enormous influence of Neurosis on shaping the sound of technical metal in the last 10-15 years
Your reaction to this song was the exact reaction I had to this some when Gojira opened with this song in Omaha last night. Hearing this live was not something K was prepared for and my head is still pounding from throwing my head around.
The whole album Magma is pffff so good. And I may have cried to a couple of their songs about their mom.
Epic as always Tank - stay strong brother!
HOWDY FROM NEW ENGLAND...IM A DRUMMER AND HAVE LISTENED TO THIS SONG 25X SINCE IT DROPPED LAST FRIDAY...BTW JOE DUPLANTIER THE SINGER/GUITARIST PRODUCED THE ENTIRE ALBUM IN THE STUDIO THEY BUILT AND OWN NAMED SILVER CORD STUDIOS IN NYC...IF THIS IS HOW THEY ARE KICKING OFF THE NEW ALBUM BUCKLE UP PLL GOJIRA IS COMING FOR OUR THROATS!!!! GREAT REACTION AND EQUIPMENT BREAKDOWN...PEACE FROM THE NORTHEAST..
about damn time them.... they are one of the best bands out there according to me... hopefully you can react to one of my fav songs of all times "explosia"
Has to be live though at Brixton, they are 20x better live
Gojira is worthy of being your next reaction series to follow Nightwish. You will not regret a deep dive into these boys' music and it would be appropriate for the lead up to the new album in a couple months.
Glad you returned to Gojira, these guys deserve more attention!
You cant really go wrong with Gojira, they have a magic that is hard to pin down. Worth watching some live stuff as they are a powerhouse live, the studio stuff is amazing, but they step up live,. Silvera for instance is a great track on the album but my watching the live clip they have is insane.
They did a show at Red Rocks with, I believe Devin Townsend (Great to hear Detox in the into :P) and Opeth which is a line up I would die to see; anyway they put out the extended version of Pray, which is worth watching, as well as a journey and a half.
That's all more recent stuff but everything's golden: Flying whales, Gift of Guilt, Art of Dying, Heaviset Matter in the Universe. Get some live Gojira in your life, don t bring a hat :P
Great reaction as allway :)
Tank, here's my go to list of Gojira tracks for anyone new to the band (excluding their upcoming 7th album) - there are many(!) more great tracks but these are the 'chef's specials' on the menu 😉👌

Thanks for doing this. It was great. Love your channel!
Thanks!
First listen. Really like your insight and energy! Gojira is truly special, especially live. Check out Flying Whales at their Brixton Academy show, and (definitely) their more recent track Pray live at Redrocks, which is extended from the album and is absolute magic! Will sub now and look forward to more.
Thanks a ton, man!
I actually really enjoyed this guy's reaction. As somewhat of a gear nerd and history buff, listening to him briefly talk about Charvel, Jackson, and Dingwall was great. Not to mention his appreciation for this sort of music.
A1 stuff, my dude.
Thanks a ton, man!!!
Maaaann, Gojira is just superb!! Listen to "Flying Whales (live at Pol'and'Rock)", "Pray (live at Red Rocks)", "Backbone (live with 'Remembrance' outro)" or any other song. This band has no bad songs!
It´s really pleasing to see you headbang. Massive thumbs up! Bass bass, bass bass, bass bass, bass bass
I don´t want to be to demanding, but I would have a request, kind of... You are obviously very familiar with a wide range of gear and it really spares lots of effort to research guitar models and stuff. But I assume you have a quite solid knowledge about why specific equipment is choosen, which kind of wood, pickups etc.. I would be very interested in some portions of that! Of course thats probably somewhat too specific for a relevant part of your audience, but maybe throw some interesting points in there at the end or something like that?
I remember going to see Trivium back around 2005/06/07 roughly in Glasgow and they had 3 support bands one of which was Gojira they were awesome back then as well dude!
I love your reactions man!
Keep killing the reactions and the stage tech info too bro! I cannot wait for Nightwish's live stream gig, but I am also going down to birmingham to see them from scotland...a good 6 hour drive one way, the things we do for music bro 😝🤘🏻😂
🤘🤘🤘
Watching some of your older reactions. This one was really nice, but I would add that Gojira has some interesting prog elements in their sound. Just listen to those drum fills and background guitar work. I would be glad if you come back to Gojira with another reaction, for example live in Poland. Greetings
This band is totally insane! And This Video this so catche! Excelent Reaction!
Thank you for that info about that Bass! Someday when I'm a succesfull musician(fingers crossed....) I'm gonna get one of those. :D Great, interesting reaction. Stay awesome! 👍🤘
Mieux vaut tard que jamais. Better late than never. :) Great réaction again ! Thumbs up of course. Waiting for the future reactions of Gojira. Your mind will be blown away. Yeah. Vive Gojira
new to your channel ; glad you enjoy Gojira this much !!!! if you want to dig deeper into their music here's a sample of tracks you should check ( from their debut album to their latest ) :
drone (2001) ; remembrance (2003) ; the heaviest matter of the universe (2005) ; the art of dying (2008) ; l'enfant sauvage (2012) and silvera (2016) - welcome to french metal ,man .enjoy !!!
Thanks man!!!!
gojira is my personal favorite... thx for reviewing them again..try the heaviest matter in the universe next
Gojira are one of the best metal bands in the world and Mario Duplantier is one of the best drummers in the world. They are amazing live too! You should always check out their live performances. "Pray" (live red rocks) is probably my favourite Gojira song ever so maybe check that one out. Bad ass riffs and an amazing atmosphere!
Also... Have you ever listened to Meshuggah? Best metal band of all time in my personal opinion. Their talent is out of this world! A song called "Pravus" (Alive DVD) would be a great introduction to them...
LOVE Meshuggah!
@@TankTheTech Hell yeah man!🤘
6:00 You definitely got a point! Andy Wallace mixed the album and he's a legend. 👏👏
I recommend 'flying whales' and 'The heaviest matter of the universe' next, but all gojira is good
Great réaction mate 😊, be carefull, once you dive into gojira, you Will never get enough ^^
Great video as always, I loved it as well as the song. I really love when I can clearly hear base in songs, I like the sound of it.
This kind of metal wasn't my thing before, but the last few months I found myself listening to it more and more. You made me want to listen to Gojira this afternoon so I'm currently working in the middle of the vineyard half head banging. Glad I don't have anyone working near me right now, they'd think I'm crazy. 😅
When you have time, you should check out the featuring Joe did with Apocalyptica on the song "Bring Them To Light", on your own because I don't think there is any official videos for it.
*bring them to light :P
It's the only Apocalyptica song with vocals, that I like.
@@Brombit Woops 😅 Gonna correct this, thanks!
I'm not a fan of Apocalyptica songs with lyrics but this one is really good!
Wolf down the earth - my favorite Gojira song
I could write a book about these guys. They were originally called godzilla but changed their name late 90’s. They startee of as death metal band (morbid angel influenced). But even better to le, it’s called Godzilla-Possessed. Their first ‘ep’.
Than they have Terra Incognita, their first real album. It’s heavy heavy.
So much to suggest but to keep it short, here some recommendations:
Just so you know, Gojira is known to be very tight live, and i must say that 80% of their discography sounds much better live than studio. I don’t why, but studio they sound a bit dull, over processed to me, at least their latest two. They have very specific concerts where they absolutely shine. If you have a free hour, just check out the complete Link Alive concert, it’s from 2003, but it’s one hell of an experience, so raw and heavy.
Here are some of my favourites of theirs in no particular order:
Wisdom comes (live Brixton Academy)
Gojira Lizard Skin - Vieilles Charrues
Clone (Studio)
Ocean planet (Live Rio)
A Sight to Behold (Live Vieilles Charrues)
Blow me away you (Studio & The link Alive)
Love (Live Rio)
Embrace the world The link alive) heavy drumming in this one
Oroborus (eurockeenes concert)
Art of Dying (Live Vieilles Charrues)
Indians (Live Vieilles Charrues)
My last creation (studio)
Gift of guilt live at Brixton academy
In the Forest Link Alive
I’d recommend to start of with Clone (studio version is the best for this one) and art of dying ( Vieiiles charrues concert) up next!
Cheers!
Thanks a ton!!!
aww maan, Gojira. My first contact with them was 2006ish? on a 3-day metal festival, on the second day, first band of the day. Best. Hangover cure. ever. I had never heard of them before, and was completely in awe for the whole show.
A great chronological intro to Gojira would be:
Space Time (2001)
Remembance (2003)
Backbone (2005)
The Heaviest Matter Of The Universe (2005)
Flying Whales (2005) - this whole album is SICK
Toxic Garbage Island (2008)
The tone of the riffs reminds me of those heavy chugs that Helmet and Megadeth throw out.
Yeah gojira! One of those bands where anything you listen to is fantastic. Where Dragons Dwell live from hellfest is always a solid choice!
Great reaction! You should definitely check out Gojira - The Gift Of Guilt (Live at Brixton Academy, London)
Perfect way to sum up Gojira: they're just...really...GOOD
You should check out the music video for Silvera sometime, it´s not as crazy or wierd as some of their other songs but it´s just an awesome track. Anyhow, pretty much all of their songs are great so it´s hard to go wrong.
Im lovin the Strapping Young Lad in the back haha, such an underrated band
Great reaction! I'm glad you are digging Gojira. One of my favorite bands of all time. Planning on going to Wacken 2023 and I hope they are on the lineup. Not going to give a song suggestion, just check out anything by these guys. 🤘
99.9 % song reactions : "how it's great, it's heavy, blablabla ..."
In this one, i have learnt a lot ! Tank U ;)
🤘🤘🤘
This path will lead you to many wonders, you really can't go wrong with Gojira
gojira are serious business. :) awesome. france has good metalbands. :) I like gojira and alcest. their mv "protection" is breathtaking. and the music is very good too, if you maybe want to check them. quick edit: gojira is one of the favourites of lovebites bassplayer miho. :)
Your reaction at 12:01 is the only correct reaction. Gotchoseff a new sub, homie
Thanks a ton, man!
Two Gojira songs... holy crap dude, you make me feel like a Metal Enthusiast.
Gojira does not have a single bad song, only amazing, epic and legendary level tunes ;)
i don't know why but i just get oddly gleeful every time i remember that they filmed this in a museum.
Yes!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻 Amazing song! 🔥
Dude, check out Pray live at Red Rocks. The wall of sound they always put out is unreal.
Thank you for another grrrreat reaction... 🙏
We need a dedicated day to Gojira! There are a loooot of good songs!
Seen Gojira in Helsinki and at Wacken, dreams do come true.
VEIL OF MAYA just dropped a new song today. Its killer!
Whatttttttttt?!
Great reaction man, pretty sure I learn something new about some guitar maker from every video of yours.
Awesome! That’s the goal!
Lyrics: "Born For One Thing"
Mortal, spawn on the altar
Caught in the heart of the blaze
The primal fear of disappearing
Becoming
A ghost in the void
Death
Give a price, put a name
None of it real in this matter
Wandering, distracting
Wishing the life of another
Self
We were born for one thing
Tame the greatest fear of all
We were born for one thing
Born to face the greatest fear of all
We're all drawn into ourselves
In a collective coma
Remember, gazing up for answers
But now we're staring down
Down
Down
Down
All is blur in the maze, we put an end to all
We were born for one thing
Tame the greatest fear of all
We were born for one thing
Born to face the greatest fear of all
We're no one
United
When we're gone
Recommend you to watch “Gojira Pol’And’Rock Festival 2018 Live”. Absolutely one of the best live shows on TH-cam. Good show, good sound, good video and just all of Gojiras best songs!
Greetings from Sweden 🇸🇪❤️
Architects new album just dropped......love to get your take on the tracks you have not done yet if you can fit them in ( assuming you are not sidetracked by by more important stuff yet)
Explosia is a personal favourite....!!!! Bounces so fucking hard
Brand of Sacrifice - Altered Eyes
Love this song. I can’t wait for the new album. They sound great.
Gojira - Amazonia!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (26/3/2021) Masterpiece!!!Masterpiece!!!Epic!! ;) :D
Let's talk about the Elephant 🐘 in the room. Gojira are great!
those pinch harmonics
de_fekin_lish
you should check the video for a new world by gojira(the one that started playing at the end of your video)
First song I heard from them was, to Sirius and you should do a reaction to backbone. Id love to see it. Keep up the great content I always enjoy it
Frindly reminder, check some Gojira
I've listend to Gojira since "From Mars to Sirius" album and they honestly have a sound NO OTHER BAND has, they are UNIQUE. We don't get alot of these days, in my opinion.
I like Gojira’s music. I like Gojirs’s vocals. I like Gojira’s lyrics. I don’t really like how they all get put together. This is one of the exceptions.
I'm too poor for patreon. But hopefully one day you'll do a reaction to The Human Abstract. If you don't know of them already. Might be similar to Gojira, where they've been around forever but might be off your radar. I'd suggest starting with Digital Veil. (For all heavy purposes) or Patterns if you want some cleans mixed in. Love your channel. Been here since you were around 10k. 👍
Thanks a ton, man! And don’t worry about Patreon. I don’t expect things from people, it’s just there if they ever want to. I’ve heard of The Human Abstract, but I’ve never listened. On my radar, now!
