    I did change passenger side mount on my 2006 CDI E320 today. Thanks for the video that was helpful in guiding the steps. I followed the steps and would like to add following experience of mine.
    1) it is difficult to find 16mm rachet or socket in shops so I end up using 5/8" which is mathematically a slightly better fit
    2) the 5/8 (though should be better than 16mm size) was slipping on the bolt for me but luckily I was able to break loose the top bolt using 5/8 socket with a smaller ratchet (about 7 inches long socket)
    3) I jacked up the engine from oil pan using 2X4 across the oil pan (length of block was same as width of the pan) and it didn't cause any oil pan bend

      I would try breaking it loose with a 6 point wrench and then do the rest breaking it loose is the most critical thing and u only need to do for a small amount of movement

    Thanks for this really clear video. I completed this job on my 2004 E320 without any issue. Massive improvement even though the old mounts didn't look that worn at all. You deserve more subscribers for the quality of your content but I guess these cars are niche appeal, especially in the US

      W211 diesels are a lot more common here in the EU though (with smaller engines also available, mine's an E270 CDI 5cyl, om647 engine). So the target audience is there, it's just not in the US :)

    Have you ever seen a case when after the motor mount bolts were removed the frame of the car did not release from the engine when jacking up the engine from the oil pan? I have a 2007 bluetec E320. I went on a road trip and probably drove about 5000 miles on broken motor mounts. The DPF was and is clogged up and was causing a vibration and I thought that was the problem(engine code). I wasn't in a position to get it fixed on the road. Still can't buy a replacement DPF from MB.

    On my 2008 E320 V6, do I need to remove the air filters housing?
    Is there a way to do this job with jack stand only?

    Great video MBDieselFreak! Three questions for you please. 1) since the 13mm lower bolt can be difficult to remove, can you use an impact wrench to remove it? 2) If right mount gets damaged due to excessive heat, can only one mount be changed at a time and if so, do both mounts have to be loosened in order to jack up engine? 3) No real mention of a heat shield (p/n 211-241-08-34), that is found on the right (passenger) side and sits on top of the engine mount per diagram. From pictures of this item, 16mm bolt runs through it. note: My 2006 E320 CDI does NOT have this part installed and I have not been able to find it anywhere - if anyone knows where I can find one (or if it is even installed), please let me know. From its position, not sure one can loosen the 16mm bolt from below with this part installed due to the way it flares out from the top of the mount. My mechanic said failure of right mount was probably the result of too much heat from lack of the shield. Any information you or your readers can offer is appreciated! Comments? Thanks, William

    I have an 02 w210, and I assume the process isn't significantly different. This is one of the better videos I've watched regarding engine mounts (I'm replacing mine in the next 2 weeks or so, depending on arrival).
    Only question I have is about lifting the car. You said not to do it on the oil pan (at least not on the middle). Where would you (or others) suggest you lift it off of? I haven't looked under the car to see if there's an obvious spot, so please forgive me if that's a really ignorant question.

    Why did you choose the brand of mounts you went with? Are all brands equal as a replacement part?

    When I turn my '05 CDI off, there is a "jiggle" to the car. Is this normal? If not, would you consider this to be an engine mount issue?

    • @MBDieselFreak
      @MBDieselFreak 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's normal, my CDI does that a little bit even after changing the mounts.
      If that's the only issue you have, I'd ignore it.

    Where do you recommend we should Jack up the engine from if not the oil pan? Please idea?

    • @MBDieselFreak
      @MBDieselFreak 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      There is a spot right in front of the cross member that a 2x4 can fit, it puts pressure right on the area where the pan bolts to the block, it's a safe place to jack from.

      My hand was on the mount and the engine was only about a 1/4 of an inch from the mount, I had to hold the mount in place as the engine came down to make sure the locating pin was in the right spot.

    Sadly this does not work as easy on the 2004 w211 e320 cdi European models the upper 16mm bolt hits as it’s very tight on room with the downpipe/muffler .
    You’ll need to first disconnect the upper 16mm bolt (passenger side / turbo side )
    Next support the engine but lifting it with a bottle jack with wood or telescoping jack depending on the life you’re using . Raise the engine ( not too much !)
    Then disconnect the 4 bolts attaching the motor mount to the engine . With the 4 bolts off tilt the engine plate, so the 16mm bolt can come out . And not hit the catalytic converter/ down pipe .
    I also disconnect the drivers side lower 13mm bolt and trans bolt .
    Hope this helps someone 👍🏼
