Been waiting all over break for this. Its one of the best premieres to a season I have ever seen. My favourite moment is when Silver frees himself and then goes “ Do I actually have to fight him?” and then Flint goes ballistic “Well WTF did you think was going to happen? Do it! Do it!” That whole scene was hilarious. It illustrates exactly type of wryly weasely shrewdness that makes John who he is. Its how he is able to either sneakily or charismatically put himself in these positions where no one else might manage that feat. I think Flints initial anger with John at the supposed Betrayal was a pretty good intuitive response because John always has seemed and done everything for his own interests. Poor Jack. Happy for Anne but does that spell double trouble for poor Jack? Getting beat up and now his partner is into somebody else.
The betrayal was explained in episode 7 of season 1. Flint was going to sequester a portion of the gold for his own use - to fortify Nassau. Which is a betrayal because they should be dividing it equally.

The "betrayal" referenced in Mrs.Barlow's letter was Flint's plan to secretly sequester a portion of the Urca gold he would use to help establish Nassau as an independent power in the Caribbean. Flint is a Lieutenant in the British Navy who has been assigned to be a consultant of sorts to Thomas Hamilton. Hamilton is more of a politician and his father has proprietary rights to much of the West Indies, including New Providence Island (Nassau's location). So excited for your journey into Season 2. Here we go!!!!
the original actor who played Dufresne was Jannes Eiselen who sadly is not with us anymore. He developed brain cancer before the second season could be filmed and was recasted due to that, Mr. Eiselen died 23rd of September 2016 after his long and hard-fought battle with his illness

Yes. If Flint were to sequester some of the Urqua gold it would have to be with the agreement of the rest of the crew which he knew they wouldn't buy.

Yes. Or to put it simply, Flint used to work for/consult as a navy officer the Hamilton family who own the land beneath Nassau.

I love season 2 so much. It's my favorite. The flashbacks do a great job of informing both Flint's past and how that affects his current situations.

Honestly this is where the show goes from "very good" to "amazing"

Spot on about Mr. DuFrense. He went from never firing a pistol a week ago to being introduced as the toughest hard ass on the crew in Season II.
