The Scandinavia bar opened in 1986, and still is run by the same guy. He started on beach road, and moved to Bukhao a few years ago. I hope he can relocate again. I think it must be the longest running bar in Pattaya run by the same guy
Marquee will close whilst the work starts knocking down the bars across road scandanavian bar up to and including Ting Tong 2 bar. It will then re-open and run down its 2 year lease. After that it is unsure of that will be taken down or left with a new lease. As you are aware the Marquee bar is stood alone and not connected to another building on the land. Hopefully it will flourish when new complex is open and is kept on , although I do know the lady was looking to sell before the development came about. The new complex will be in a horseshoe design.
Well your never going to do that are you build a beer bar complex and hide it away round the back off some bars you are going to want the entrance right on the road side
Great information mate, agree about Myth and I would put that down mainly to 90THB a beer when you can go LK for example for 50 to 65THB. Also looking at the car park you can see the attraction to the landlord and the money they will make. Knocking down those small bars won't take long and they have the platform already in place with the car park. It would be good if they could somehow keep the Marquee as it is an Iconic bar and fav with ex pats too.
Yeah, Myth is a bit boring - the place had more character (and more pretty ladies) back when it was part of soi made in Thailand, although it was turning into a bit of a dump. For some weird reason I prefer old run down bars...
Dozens of new bars, no doubt with high rents, who would be daft enough to take them on with very few customers for 9 months of the year? Even the high season is getting shorter with fewer customers, madness.
Another Beer-Bar complex surprises me too. I expected you to say "New Hotel" or simply leave the Marquee bar and the others alone and just convert the carpark into a beer bar complex would be a reasonable comprimise.
Chinese landlord? I always thought non-Thai nationals were not permitted to own land. Or is that just us farangs? It's a big plot. Why not keep the small bars on Buakhao and construct bar complex behind. Maybe with rear access from Soi New Plaza, opposite NP Residence, where the road forks. I really miss the old Made in Thailand complex. Myth Night does not have the same vibe as the old bars.
Adult entertainment wise no one can really add anything that hasn't been done before, everything has been done too death. The only thing would be Casinos which I think will be legalised in the next few years. I've always liked beer bars but Pattaya doesn't need anymore. Myth looks good but way too many bars in that complex, I can't see how they will survive. Nothing special and zero atmosphere. I did enjoy Las Vegas Beer Garden air con is amazing and loads of good looking girls. Maybe the best I've seen around town. Don't forget everyone if you're heading to Pattaya pop in the m&m bar just off Soi Buakhao for a beer and to say hello to Mark, great place and great people, if you're traveling solo this is a great place to meet others and make new friends. 100% in Thailand means 50/50 Mark lol Good video thanks for the update
Been watching your videos and enjoying them, I'm returning to Thailand in November/December just for 2 weeks for the first time since 2018, looks like lots of changes since then. Starting off in Bangkok then off to Patts, may see you about then 👍. Tree Town was just being built when I last came and Myth was Soi Made In Thailand I think , weird all these new complexes being built , i always preferred the old soi bars like Soi Honey, Soi Buakhao , Pothole etc.
Unfortunately the landlords have to right not to renew at the end of a contract if they wish. It is a risk especially buying a bar on a big plot of land (ie a bar complex) which is owned by one person. They could decide to go in a different direction to make more money .
I've spent a lot of time in marquee bar , great music, great staff. Another beer bar complex ,might struggle I reckon. Tree town is ok but to much different music blasting out . Cheers for info .
IMO Myth Night isn't doing badly (it isn't a great success though), whilst 2 sides of Tree Town are really weak. Action Street isn't doing well. I agree that's the wrong location and I agree that it really doesn't justify another beer bar complex. Time will tell.
Pretty stupid to start a project of that size in October since high season would be right around the corner! It would make much more sense to start end of February or even March. I doubt this is going to go down this year. The landowner is thinking about the potential. All of that wasted space could generate a lot more monthly cash!
They will keep building them as long as novices keep paying a lot of money for the leases on them and then realising you can't make money. Just the same as myth night, and potentially Las Vegas beer garden. Will have to see how the latter plays out.
So.. WHY the big shift to Asian tourists? I understand the Chinese are traveling internationally much more - but Japanese and Indians? Have the Euros and Yanks just given it up to the point where Asians are bringing more money? (I was there for years during the 00's)
India has surpassed China in population and Thailand is in other asian countries' backyard. The rest is due to the increasing middle class of both India and China. Everywhere changes except Vatican City.
Expat no more Mark,The change is coming and it's new disposal money from Asia/China/India.Like the UK times are changing and you need to adapt or go broke. If you want to run an expat bar move to Blackpool or Manchester.

Sounds like good news to me, you can't have too many bars imo. The bigger problem is finding enough good looking ladies to work in them...
for me beer bar complexes have little or no atmosphere every bar area looks the same apart from the furniture!

Surly there is enough space to build a bar complex in the car park area without knocking down the bars that are already there 😅
Well your never going to do that are you build a beer bar complex and hide it away round the back off some bars you are going to want the entrance right on the road side
Had so many priceless moments in The Marquee I`m gonna effing boycott the new bar complex when it`s finished.

Sad To Hear...
Marquee Bar a Pattaya Institution & Also My Favourite Pattaya Bar..
Sad News...🇹🇭🍺🇹🇭
This was hard hitting and emotional. We must protect historical landmarks like The Marquee Bar.
Another Beer-Bar complex surprises me too. I expected you to say "New Hotel" or simply leave the Marquee bar and the others alone and just convert the carpark into a beer bar complex would be a reasonable comprimise.
Yep Pattaya really needs another beer bar complex 😂😂😂😂ones already in existence hardly have any customers so let’s build another one TIT
Chinese landlord? I always thought non-Thai nationals were not permitted to own land. Or is that just us farangs?

Saying Pattaya is lacking business in the bar scene can ignite farang rage.😂
@@SoybooCow Probably Thai/Chinese like much of the population.

Bad news that love the Marquee bar
At least they're not building another condo..
I heard Climax finally sold and food stalls out the front have until end of month.

i do like beer bar complexes. iconic to Pattaya
He may open a Beer Bar complex , but he will still need people to rent the bars ,
They will keep building them as long as novices keep paying a lot of money for the leases on them and then realising you can't make money. Just the same as myth night, and potentially Las Vegas beer garden. Will have to see how the latter plays out.
There's another beer bar complex going up on Third Road opposite Soi Excite. Good luck crossing that road after a few beers.
Isn't your bar close by ?😊
So if someone just bought one of those bars and put a chunk of money into, they can just be turfed out by the land owner?
Correct all the landlord lets you take is your furniture and fittings before demolishing .
Who said Thailand was a democracy?
When the contract ends yeah
Tree town only 4 busy bars and myth beer bar the front bars have customers 😢😢😢
Great video mate 👍

Hey man... Can you check with the staff when you're at the bar if they found a blue debit card?
They found a blue flip flop.

Pattaya is also changing. When comes to money and land the Chinese don’t care . Another beer bar complex don’t need it . Bad move but money talk mate
Money laundering?
