That’s Lake Ocoee at the first overlook you stopped at. Also, the purpose of the foot bridge was to make it easier for the workers to access the power plant. Before it was built they had to take a canoe across the Hiwassee. Also it was easier to get to the power plant via Reliance vs. the long FS road.
Yeah, my mistake. I always get those mixed up when I'm traveling around the forest through that region, especially when I travel next to both of them at some point. Thanks for watching and for the comment.
Great video! Where is that long bridge going over the river at about 24 seconds?? And what is that road going under what looks like a high Road overpass at 35 seconds??
The bridge is at the Appalachia Powerhouse, we took 30 up from Ocoee Lake, turned right on Lost Creek Rd (103) then left on 23 and left on 236, which dead ends at the powerhouse. At 35 seconds is the water pipe that runs to the powerhouse. The road is off 23 a little further down from the powerhouse but I can't remember how far. I think its 23A on the map (Turtle town Adit). Thanks for watching!
Funny....we actually snagged the valve handle on this trip and lost all our water. We don't always take the water pipe but yes, I worry about that all the time. Thanks for watching!
I would gladly share the gpx file but not sure how to get it to you (I don't believe I can post it to You Tube). If you want to comment your email address, I will send it to you. Thanks for watching!
Looks like a great trip!
It was! This is a great area to explore and camp!

The Mcfarland structure was a cement mixing building apparently.
Yep, found that out later. I would like to visit the other McFarland ruins but not sure where they are.
the river at the Power Plant was the Hiawassee River, not the Ocoee. Haven't seen the footbridge open a lot. good video

@@dustybunnsoverlandandadventure awesome thanks for that effort!
The water pipe is actually the Penstock from Applacia Dam to the Powerhouse. I live about 15 miles from there. Great video. Thanks... RT
I’d be afraid of snagging that pipe on a tree branch. Lol

@@dustybunnsoverlandandadventure my wife and I plan on exploring around that area in the fall so I’m enjoying your videos.
