"We didn't go looking for a record deal, it came knocking on our door" Well with a song like that it'd better come knocking! Echo Beach is one of the most infectious songs EVER written. Great vid!
KD Lang has one of the most amazing voices ever . . . I saw her when she first started up - she played a few Klondike Days parade/festivals in downtown Edmonton - great stuff.
Those are some great bands and music we have. Glad you spoke about Nash, wish you had expanded to his time in FM.
As a Canadian this era is often not talked about as much as US or UK indie acts so this puts these artists in a new light for me
@@MoreMusicShows I recognize most of the names but other than Slow I never gave them a listen or gave them much thought. It makes sense they had a impact back in the day it just wasn't really in what most people even from canada talk about.

So glad I found this! In the 80s, I saw a special on Canadian bands on the show Night Flight. It featured artists like Dennis Cameron, Platinum Blonde, Helix, April Wine, Honeymoon Suite, Doug and the Slugs, etc. For years I have been looking for ways to "discover" great Canadian music that was never heard in America. Oddly though, I've had a really hard time finding videos/documentaries etc. that actually show me bands that were basically huge in Canada, but unheard of in the States. Thank you for this!
@@MoreMusicShows I wish someone had pointed a camera at The Sharks, who played punk friendly venues like Larry's Hideaway, The Edge and The El Mocambo in the late 70's very early 80's until Sherry Kean went solo.
As an American I loved the Kings, that song was so great, I remember rediscovering that song in the 90s great stuff. The Pursuit of Happiness I remember too. I still use the line "cheese eating schoolboy" on occasion, lol.
That was a fun stroll. I was in England for a few weeks in 1980 and remember Echo Beach being played all the time.
Also, TPOH was (is?) a fantastic band. Hard to Laugh is a great song.
I wasn't into most of these band, but I sure remember the songs. Cool clips.

I have only ever been to Canada for two days and that was back in the eighties. I was in a Halifax and we went to a nightclub and saw Sharron and the Spoons. I don't know if that was the Spoons on this video
I remember sharing a rehearsal space at Studio City in Edmonton with Moe and his band and Jr. Gone Wild and Idyl Tea . . . and there was probably a couple of other bands using the same space . . . those were the salad days.

Why does have to be edited and choppy? Is it because of copyrights? The 60s documentary on Canadian music is uploaded fully on your channel it looks like... I wanna see the 70s and 80s one in their entirety... Without having to pay like 100 dollars for a DVD of a documentary I'm probably not going to watch more than once or twice.

I find it hard to believe anyone liked Echo Beach or High School Confidential. Those are both atrocious songs.
